MotivationMotivation
- Provide a way for users to save numbers they have built in WebDewey
- Personal and institutional built numbers
- Provide a way for users to contribute numbers they have built
- Components and steps in the number building process should be saved in well-formed 765 fields
- Eases editorial evaluation for inclusion in the classification as “official” built numbers
- Makes it possible to integrate such numbers into search and display in the local copy of WebDewey
- Number building assistant seems best way to ensure validity

- Can be used even without intention of saving the number
- Parses most add notes and other instructions to guide the user and construct MARC 765 fields in the background at the same time
- Component information is used to display how a number was built in a user-friendly way
- Helps the user in adding index terms to a saved built number
