FROM THE 3D DESIGN TO THE BILL OF QUANTITIES
STR Vision Quantity Take Off is the first module allowing you to
integrate estimation, planning, management and accounting of a
construction work into a BIM process.
You can import several different files in IFC standard, even regarding
different aspects (installations, architecture, structure), and make
information available for analyses, computing, planning and
accounting activities, supported by STR Vision CPM platform. You can
also handle later updates of the same model by disabling obsolete 3D
designs.
Estimate update
Thanks to STR Vision QTO you can prepare different versions of the
same estimate for the same Job, supported by one or more 3D designs
of the Work. When loading updated designs, you can generate a new
bill by automatically updating the (take off) quantities used.

Each analysis includes basic resources and/or partly-finished
products: in this way a multilevel price analysis can be obtained.
The application calculates the prices of works and of any supporting
analysis.
Each analysis component can have different prices (for example due
to different suppliers) or different versions, resulting in an articulated
“bank ofanalysis”.
The application makes use of percentages and formulas to obtain
subtotals.
In addition it calculates safety charges share and labor incidence.
It suggests alternative compositions for the same work, that can be
used forcomparisons.

It allows you to handle Projects according to the latest rules, the
Italian Regulation on Public Tenders as well as the new European
Directives. All modules share their data so that you can overview
the project situation in an integrated form.
The efficient processing of large quantities of data and the use of
a relational DMBS enable the most complex accounts to be
produced (both for private and public works) by several operators
working simultaneously.

JOBS JOURNAL
The recent rules on Public contracts provide for the Jobs Journal as a mandatory
accounting document for building sites. The module “Jobs Journal” summarizes in a
single document service orders, instructions, provisions of the Process Manager and
Work Supervisor, reports, minutes, claims, interruptions and resumptions of works, price
variations, modifications or increases, and in general any circumstances influencing the
activity on the building site; in addition it helps simplifying/solving any controversy that may
arise among Customer, Jobs Direction and Contractors.
It is also available as anApp.
Jobs JournalAPPHere you can note daily how jobs progress on the building site (order, way,
activity), workers employed and their qualifications, technical equipment used
and any other information concerning the technical and economic development
of the project.

Building Site Management
Once the order has been obtained, the so called “operative” estimate must be drawn up not only to execute the
work, but also to define the work execution time, the economic and financial budget of the project and to prepare the
requirements list necessary for supplies. These functions are supported by the modules: cost analysis, jobs planning
and requirementsmanagement.
Main functions:
•Organization of items on the basis of WBS or other aggregators to be set freely
• Comparison among different estimates
•Values assigned to each work, with the possibility of obtaining prices directly from the administrative area of the
management system, on the basis of lists or suppliers’ operations or hourly rates of labor and equipment.
STR Vision allows you to plan the jobs independently or on the basis of the estimate lines where you can indicate,
at analysis level, which resources are critical to determine jobs execution times. Jobs schedules can be imported/
exported from/to Oracle Primavera, Microsoft Project or Microsoft Excel. In this way you can generate project
budgets by choosing among different situations and transferring them to Management Control. Thanks to Business
Intelligence you can analyze requirements as for product category, planned quantity, times, amounts, ordered
quantity, and send Purchase Requests directly to the administrative area of the management system.
PURCHASE REQUESTS, REQUESTS FOR QUOTATION, ORDERS AND TENDER CONTRACTS WITH SUPPLIERS
STR Vision allows you to enter PRs on the basis of separate
requirements or resulting from the individual project. After being
entered (even by tablet), PRs can be processed keeping any stock
into consideration.
Purchase orders can be generated in many ways:
•Directly on the basis of requirements or PRs
•Following the supplier selection procedure: Requests for Quotation
(RfQ) are issued and then analyzed
•Autonomously for a project, for several projects or for cost centers,
indicating quantities, prices, discounts, delivery times, delivery and
payment conditions.
The order can be total, partial, by measure, or “open” and can be
processed and closed by the following records of Transport
documents (TD) or Invoices. Building Site ReportsAppThanks to this App of STR Vision CPM, you can record labor
hours per project directly by your iPad.
For each individual project you can enter the hours worked by
each employee and indicate their type (ordinary, overtime,
holiday, night, stop, vacation stop, rain stop, sickness stop,
dayworks, non-work) andthe WBS.

You can distinguish between common orders and contracts (for
supply, supply and laying, freight and services) and Suppliers’
contracts based on JPS. The latter case includes both subcontracts
and suppliers’ contracts where the performance is paid on the basis
of the actual jobs progress status.
Contract items can also be derived from the price catalog of the
project specifications. These contracts can also be associated with
a passive jobs accounting or you can simply record the certificates of
payment in industrialaccounting.

STR Vision offers different tools to record operations or documents
concerning costs and proceeds of projects as well as of other cost
centers (stock, equipment, production of inerts, aggregates and
concretes or general expenses).
Thesolutionidentifiesthebestwaytouploaddata, accordingtohowit
has been entered: from the building site, by the technical department
or by the administrativestaff. In any casethe system allocatesthe data
by building site, WBS and/or cost center. In addition, the possibility
of entering data by tablet from the building site or anywhere ensures
prompt and efficient recording of project costs.
Specially developed interfaces, organized on the principles of
industrial and analytic accounting, allow you to:
•Record TDs (Transport Documents) of deliveries and invoices for
raw materials
• Enter daily laborreports
•Record the use of vehicles and equipment on the different building
sites
•Account for JPSs and corresponding suppliers’ invoices for
performances of thirdparties
•Enter overhead expenses, record invoices for utilities, professional
services or other performances.
STR Vision is extremely versatile: you can choose between costs/
proceeds management by individual project and of all projects and
other cost centers, by also integrating the general accounting. In the
latter case you can harmonize all records, so that double entries are
avoided and balancing of accounts is ensured.
PROJECT PLANNING AND MONITORING
PiCo, the Planning and Control module of STR Vision, activates
advanced functions for estimation and scheduling, analysis of
technical progress by variations, new estimation and remaining
budget.
On the basis of the bid estimate, you can generate and process
an operative estimate by re-defining WBS, cost analysis and jobs
planning. By combining with Jobs accounting and keeping JPS or
JIS into consideration, you can obtain planned, produced,
remaining and total quantities for each item.
In addition, thanks to the Earned Value analysis techniques you can
identify values and gap reasons.
Graphic pivots offer the possibility to represent gaps by production,
by cost and/or gaps due to changed incidence of materials and
resources used and changed unit cost. Final data, which the gap
refers to, derive from industrial and/or analytic accounting: you can
obtain tables and reports comparing planned, ordered, produced
and final quantities and amounts by WBS, item and resource.
Suitable corrective measures can be promptly taken, thus increasing
the possibility of not exceeding thebudget.
Thanks to a simulation system supporting the re-estimation
functions, you can compare planned “to complete” results of the
project by applying different completion trends (steady, estimated,
null trends) to the works to be done.
