It will be open to quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and will particularly welcome submissions that are prepared to challenge orthodox views and add new empirical insights into debates. It will be interested in contributions from the ‘subjects’ of peacebuilding, as well as theoretical and methodological innovations (for example critical and ethnographic work, whether on or in post-conflict societies, or on donors and international actors). One of the themes the editors are interested in is how the current peacebuilding paradigm produces political subjectivity, and how this is responded to by the recipients of peacebuilding operations. Rethinking approaches to peacebuilding is particularly crucial if this area of study is to move beyond its current. Peacebuilding will also periodically include reports on the work of major donors and the Peacebuilding Commission, or other notable organisations in the field.
