Are you on the verge of backsliding? A little slip here, a little slip there, and next thing you know you are sliding out of control. Why not put a stop to it, and pick up your cross TODAY! Dear God, Please forgive me. I am walking on a really slippery slope and I am drifting away from you. Lord, please draw me closer to you today…. Strategic Drift and the Road to Hell “The safest road to hell is the gradual one - the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.” - C. S. Lewis This quote by C.S. Lewis really stuck out to me. It reminded me of something I have learned to look out for in business called Strategic Drift. In 1989, Charles Handy identified two types of change - Strategic Drift and Transformational Change. Strategic drift is a gradual change that occurs so subtly that it is not noticed until it is too late. By contrast, transformational change is sudden and radical. Transformational change you can respond quickly to (or at least react.) Strategic Drift, when unnoticed, can be devastating for an Organization (or a person).** When it comes to our living our lives - Strategic Drift is what happens when we fail to let God take hold of our lives; giving him control over our hearts, our minds, and our lives. Slowly we drift away each day, and slowly we lose ground. The crazy thing is - we don't even realize that it is happening. A little compromise here, a little bad decision there, and we are in a place that we never thought possible. In contrast, we can make a Transformational Change when we make a choice to give our lives over to Christ. This is when you take a stand and decide to follow God and all of his ways. Important to realize is that this decision is not a "checked box." This is something you need to do every day! Each and every day you must "pick up your cross" and make a decision to follow him. "If anyone wishes to come after me", he said, "he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23). Rather than risk the potential devastation that creeps up slowly with Strategic Drift - Experience the splendor that accompanies the Transformational Change of taking up your cross DAILY and following Christ! **(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_management) Today’s Prayer Putting It Into Action Luke 9: 23 If anyone wishes to come after me", he said, "he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" copyright © 2007- 2008 KillianSierra LLC. & CoffeeWithGod.com all rights reserved. Are you drifting? Are you on the verge of backsliding? A little slip here, a little slip there, and next thing you know you are sliding out of control. Why not put a stop to it, and pick up your cross TODAY!

Dear God, Please forgive me. I am walking on a really slippery slope and I am drifting away from you. Lord, please draw me

closer to you today….

Strategic Drift and the Road to Hell

“The safest road to hell is the gradual one - the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.”

- C. S. Lewis

This quote by C.S.

Transformational change you can respond quickly to (or at least react.) Strategic Drift, when unnoticed, can be devastating for an Organization (or a person).**

When it comes to our living our lives - Strategic Drift is what happens when we fail to let God take hold of our lives; giving him control over our hearts, our minds, and our lives.
