We all face different challenges and obstacles, and sometimes the pressure is hard to handle.

When we feel under the gun, or unsure how to meet the demands placed on us, we experience stress.

It can give you the push you need, motivating you to do your best and to stay focused and alert.

Stress is what keeps you on your toes

during a presentation at work or drives you to study for your midterm when you'd rather be watching TV or playing Games.

But when the going gets too tough and life's demands exceed your ability to cope, stress becomes a threat to both the physical and emotional well-being.

Understanding Stress

What is stress? Stress is your mind and

body’s response or reaction to a threat, event or change.

The threats are commonly called Stressors.

Levels Of Stress

There are basically two levels of stress..

1. EUSTRESS

2. DISTRESS

Eustress

Eustress or positive stress occurs when the level of stress is high enough to motivate you to get things accomplished.

Distress

Distress or negative stress occurs when the level of stress is either too high or too low and the body and/or mind begin to respond negatively to the stressors.

Response to Stress

The "fight or flight response" is our body's primitive, automatic, inborn response that prepares the body to

"fight" or "flee" from perceived attack, harm or threat to survival.
