Atlas Copco percussive tools are ideal for all material removal tasks in foundries, engineering workshops, shipyards, and the construction and off-shore industries. Built-in-ergonomic features such as vibration damping reduces the human load, delay fatigue and help protect the operator against the ill effects of long-term exposure to vibration and noise. Vibrationdamped models are available over almost the entire power range.
Percussive tools for indu strial applications
Roslagsgjuteriet AB, Herräng, Sweden, depends highly on the RRF 31 in their fettling department
Roslagsgjuteriet AB, in Herräng, is a modern foundry specialised in small and medium size series of castings in “Grey-”, “Nodular-” and “Alloy-” cast iron. Despite modern development of the casting and forming technique there is still a large demand of manual fettling with percussive and abrasive power tools. As this is a very tough job for the operators “Roslags-gjuteriet” early realised that it is a good investment to buy power hand tools with the best power to weight ratio available and with a low vibration value as well as an over all high level of ergonomics. Beside the Atlas Copco GTG Turbo grinders for external abrasive treatment they use the RRF 31 for the chipping operations. This powerful vibration dampened hammer with an Al- alloy good grip handle and its lightweight chisel range is an extremely effective tool for its size.
A tool to suit your needs
The Atlas Copco range of percussive tools is headed up by a vibration damped Trident formed by the RRF/RRD chipping hammers and the RVM scaler. Like all Atlas Copco percussive tools they have built an enviable reputation based on rugged design, high performance, and easy service/maintenance. But they offer even more – built-in ergonomic features that minimize both operator fatigue and the effects of long-termexposure to vibration and noise.
RRF 30/31 chippers boost productivity
Turkey’s largest foundry, Döktas, supplies castings to the automotive industry. The varying sizes and complexity of the castings requires fettling to be carried out manually with chipping hammers and grinders. Faced with a bottleneck in the fettling department, the foundry turned to the vibration-damped RRF 30/31 chipper with light-weight aluminium hand grip. Operators were surprised and delighted by the ease of use and power of the RRF 30/31, with hand/arm weighted vibration as low as 2.5m/s2. It didn’t take long before Erkan Genis, foreman of the fettling department, was able to report a productivity increase of 10%.
”We actually got engaged already during the early field test of the new RRF 21/31 handles. Now we since many years use one RRF 31 hammer in each of our fettling boxes. For no reason in the world we could think to be without these powerful and low vibrating hammers!” says Hans Andersson, foreman on the fettling department, Roslagsgjuteriet.

OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES, Chisels available
