STRUCTURAL STEEL SKIDS 1.0 INTRODUCTION Within the body of this specification the information provided follows closely with the necessary code requirements. These codes are intended to safely design, fabricate, ship, and erect structural steel buildings. For a full list of symbols or definitions please refer to the appropriate code. 2.0 SCOPE This standard specification defines minimum requirements for the design, fabrication, shipment, and erection of structural steel including but not limited to equipment skids, spreader bars, slings, and pipe supports in accordance with the requirements of this specification. 3.0 CODE REQUIREMENTS 3.1 The latest editions of the following codes shall be considered a part of this specification: 3.1.1 American Institute of Steel Construction, Specification for the Design, Fabrication, and Erection of Structural Steel Buildings 3.1.2 American Welding Society, Structural Welding Code D1.1 3.1.3 American Petroleum Institute, Recommended Practice for Planning, Designing, and Constructing Fixed Offshore Platforms, RP 2A as referenced.

2.0 SCOPE

This standard specification defines minimum requirements for the design, fabrication, shipment, and erection of structural steel including but not limited to equipment skids, spreader bars, slings, and pipe supports in accordance with the requirements of this specification.

3.0 CODE REQUIREMENTS

3.1 The latest editions of the following codes shall be considered a part of this specification:

3.1.1 American Institute of Steel Construction, Specification for the Design, Fabrication, and Erection of Structural Steel Buildings

3.1.2 American Welding Society, Structural Welding Code D1.1

3.1.3 American Petroleum Institute, Recommended Practice for Planning, Designing, and Constructing Fixed Offshore Platforms, RP 2A as referenced.

3.1.4 American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM Standards for Materials Specifications.

3.2 In cases of conflict between the provisions of the specified codes and the provisions of this specification, this specification shall govern.

3.3 In cases of conflict among the provisions of the specified codes, the governing provisions shall be those which provide the greatest strength.
