Enrollment Management A Key to Opportunities

Mission: To serve the students and community by coordinating procedures related to student recruitment activities, advising prospective and current students in admissions requirements and individual program requirements, and receiving and processing admissions and residency applications. To provide various Federal and State agencies with student enrollment data related to these activities.

Enrollment Management Priority #1• Strengthen recruiting efforts to increase

enrollment.  Why the need?• To increase FTE.• To meet the employment demands of the

community.Procedure for Priority #1• Broaden our recruiting target area.• Develop a prospective student database.• Provide a centralized housing and commuter

resource information center.College Goals: 6 and 7

Enrollment Management Priority #2• Restructure the new student orientation

program. Why the need? • To ease the transition into college and improve

the student’s chances for success. • To promote effective use of campus resources

and support services to improve retention.Procedure for Priority #2• Promote a mandatory seminar for all new

students prior to registration. • Redesign the program to include interactive

student participation and a campus tour.College Goals: 7 and 12

Career & Testing Services A Key to Accomplishment

Mission: To provide testing for students in a caring and concerned manner and to provide them with information regarding career selection, employment preparedness, and job opportunities.

Career and Testing Priority #1• Implement online testing of the Psychological Services

Bureau (PSB) exam for Allied Health Programs.Why the need? • Instant test results.• Cost savings.Procedure for Priority #1 • Establish online access through PSB.• Provide training on administering online tests.• Establish a testing schedule to accommodate student

needs.College Goal: 7

 

Career and Testing Priority #2• Research types and designs of career offices.

  Why the need? • To effectively develop a new center at CFCC.

Procedure for Priority #2•  Identify colleges that offer comprehensive career

services.• Obtain information concerning design,

implementation, and effectiveness.• Visit institutions to obtain ideas for our new

center.

Financial Aid A Key to Financial Solutions

Mission: To assist students and families in obtaining financial assistance to meet their educational goals by providing a diverse array of aid opportunities.

Financial Aid Priority #1• Develop a procedure that will require Supervisors

to report work study hours in a more efficient manner.

Why the need?• To ensure accountability and distribution of work-

study funds.

Procedure for Priority #1• Meet with supervisors to explain responsibilities

of supervisors and regulations which govern this program.

College Goal: 7

Financial Aid Priority #2• Improve communication to students on

Academic Progression Standards. Why the need?• To ensure students know what is expected of

them and the consequences of not meeting the standards.

Procedure for Priority #2• Rewrite Progression Policy Standards given to

Financial Aid students. • Create examples of how the 67% completion

rate is calculated and the impact. College Goal: 7

Financial Aid Priority #3

• Train staff to be proficient on Colleague/Datatel.

Why the need?• To ensure all Financial Aid staff can operate the

Datatel system with accuracy.

Procedure for Priority #3• Prepare schedule to train staff by March 1,

2005.

Office of the Registrar A Key to Student Success

Mission: To provide an effective registration process and to insure the accuracy and integrity of student records.

Registrar Priority #1• To ensure all FT and PT faculty understand

attendance and final grade reporting procedures.Why the need?• Proper completion of course attendance rosters

ensures accuracy of information. Procedure for Priority #1• Review/update memos and directions sent to

faculty on how to properly complete rosters. • Provide a list of support staff phone and email

addresses for faculty questions.College Goals: 7 and 13

Registrar Priority #2• Provide legal requirements and restrictions

mandated by the Federal Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) to all faculty and staff.

Why the need?• To ensure staff and faculty comply with FERPA.

Procedure for Priority #2• Provide a Fall In-service workshop each year.• Provide training during new faculty orientation

each semester.• Send FERPA reminders with all rosters.

Registrar Priority #3• Develop a training plan for staff and faculty prior to

the Fall 2005 implementation of Datatel.Why the need? • Datatel will change our operating procedures in

numerous ways.Procedure for Priority #3• Conduct a Fall In-service workshop to provide an

overview of the Datatel system.• Create a training manual for faculty and staff.• Establish a timeline for transition,

implementation, and training. College Goal: 7 and 13 

Counseling A Key to Achievement

Mission: To offer services to students regarding academic programs and requirements; to intervene and make referrals in an effort to retain students; and to assist in removing barriers that prevent student success.

Counseling Priority #1• Provide quality online counseling services to

Distance Learners.Why the need?• Technological advancements and the enrollment

increase in online learning mandate the need for online counseling.

Procedure for Priority #1 • Two counselors will have with Distance

Counseling credentials by end of Spring 2005.• Establish and maintain a “Distance Learner

Counseling Website.” College Goals: 5, 7 and 12

Counselor Priority #2• Enhance communication between Health

Science faculty, staff, and potential students.Why the need? • Interest in Health Science programs continues

to increase every year. Procedure for Priority #2

• Review and revise Health Science information packets and website.

• Review and update academic advising training to Health Science faculty and staff.

Counseling Priority #3• Develop a workflow and manual for entry of

college transfer credit into Datatel.  Why the need?

• Implementation of Datatel.  Procedure for Priority #3

• Develop a workflow based on policies and procedures of CFCC.

• Obtain information and input from other colleges who have implemented the software.

Student Activities/Athletics A Key to Student Life

Mission: Provide a program of student activities and athletics to enhance the educational experience at CFCC through extracurricular involvement in SGA, clubs, organizations, intramurals, and athletics.

Activities/Athletics Priority #1• Review the organization and structure of the

Department of Student Activities.Why the need?• To insure compliance with SACS and provide

quality services.Procedure for Priority #1• Develop a policies and procedures manual for the

Department of Student Activities.• Develop a Student Government Association

operating manual. College Goals: 7 and 11

Activities/Athletics Priority #2• Evaluate the academic support program through

the LRC. Why the need?• To provide support and encourage success

among our student-athletes.Procedure for Priority #2• Review and update the existing program.

Improve the method to identify student-athletes that are in academic jeopardy.

• Update progress reports and study hall requirements.

College Goals: 1, 4 and 7

Activities/Athletics Priority #3• Develop a scholarship fund raising program.

Why the need?• Provide additional athletic scholarships.• “Scholarships = Championships!”

Procedure for Priority #3• Work with the CFCC Foundation to cultivate

community and local business relationships.• Propose fund raising opportunities to Foundation.• Advertise and distribute information about our new “Sea Devil Club.”

College Goals: 7 and 10

Activities/Athletics Priority #4 • Evaluate and implement an additional sport for

women during 2005.

Why the need?• To balance gender equity in athletic programs and

meet Title IX regulations.

Procedure for Priority #4• Using Student Surveys and other research,

evaluate the interest and demand for other women's sports.
