SOGA manages the Student Organic Garden on the corner of Walnut St & Virginia St in Berkeley, CA The Student Organic Garden Association (SOGA) is a democratic student association of garden stewards and educators committed to sustainable organic gardening grounded in direct experience. Our mission is to establish continuity of maintenance and support for the Student Organic Garden year round in order to provide a creative thriving space for democratic hands-on education and food justice for students and the greater community. http://berksoga.tumblr.com [email protected] Friend us on Facebook! “SOGA Garden” Student Organic Garden Association * Our garden is 1,100 sq ft & is 100% student managed year round. * Each spring we teach an Introduction to Organic Gardening & Food Justice class and manage an internship program through the Democratic Education at CAL (DECal) program. This semester, over 220 students are involved. * On weekends, we host open hours for students & community members to volunteer in the garden & participate in workshops ranging from medicinal salve making to vertical gardening to composting. * SOGA alum have pursued careers in environmental & agriculture education, sustainable farming, food systems policy, and more.
