“An alien who intends to study in Sweden and who has been admitted to higher education here shall be granted a residence permit for the period of study if he or she
•1. has personal means, a scholarship or other similar resources that are sufficient for his or her maintenance during the period of study and for the return journey,
•2. has comprehensive health insurance that is valid in Sweden, and
•3. does not constitute a threat to public policy, public security or public health.”

Extending your student permit
“A residence permit under the first paragraph shall be granted for at least one year or for the period of studies concerned, if shorter. If the studies continue for a longer period the permit shall be extended by at least one year at a time or for the period of studies concerned, if shorter, provided the conditions in the first paragraph are satisfied and the student makes acceptable progress in his or her studies.”

“In this ordinance 'student' refers to those who have been admitted to and pursue higher education studies, 'third-cycle student' to those who have been admitted to and pursue third-cycle studies, in both cases in so far as not otherwise specifically stated.”

2. the family member is a direct descendant of the alien or of his or her spouse or cohabiting partner, if the descendant is dependent on either of them for means of support or is under 21 years of age.
A residence permit under the first paragraph shall be granted having the same scope as for the alien to whom the family member has ties.”

Withdrawal of permit
”Over and above what is stated in Section 1, visas, residence permits and work permits may be withdrawn if there are special grounds for this. A residence permit, however, may only be withdrawn under the first paragraph fom an alien who has not yet entered Sweden.”

Appeal
Appeal
You can appeal this decision to the Adminstrative court in Malmö, the Migration court. Your appeal must be in writing and received at the Migration Agency within three weeks from when you were notified your decision.
How to do- Write which decision you want to appeal and how you want it changed- Write your name, personal number, postal adress and telephone number- Sign the letter with your name. If you have a legal representative that helps you with your appeal can
he or she sign the letter. The legal representative must in that case attach a power of attorney.- Sen your appeal to: Migrationsverket, Tillståndsenheten i Växjö, Box 1228, 351 12 Växjö.
The Migration Agency will forward the appeal to the Administrative Court in Malmö, the Migration Court if the Migration Agency do not change the decision in your favor.
