Introduction

OUTAbout the Student Support Foundation

For over a decade the Morgridge Family Foundation has believed that the power of youth has the ability to change the world. Setting a few guidelines, encouraging creativity and unique opportunities in their own community, we have seen first hand how Student Support Foundation can change lives. Welcome to the youth philanthropy club movement we call Student Support Foundation.

The first SSF Club launched at Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida in 2003. The student lead clubs operate as youth philanthropy clubs in high schools, colleges and universities in multiple states: Colorado, Florida, New Hampshire, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Through the process of establishing a Student Support Foundation Club the students set funding priorities, establish their operating guidelines, bylaws and elect officers. Each club is hosted by a volunteer sponsor who acts as the convener, mentor and support role when needed. This is an important distinction from most clubs where the club sponsors have a much more hands on role. This is also intentional. The objective of developing student leaders is a primary focus of each Student Support Foundation Club.

The past 12 years have proven to change countless lives in schools where Student Support Foundation Clubs exist. The lives changed are those to whom grants are given and also to the students making the funding decisions on which requests to fund. Collectively, Student Support Foundation Clubs have granted more than $375,000 to projects they felt enhance their school and community.

Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you. ~Mother Teresa
