On behalf of teaching staff, non-teaching staff of GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar, I congratulate and welcome you all on & beyond admission in GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar. Gandhinagar named after Our father of the Nation, is located near the bank of Sabarmati River. It is the capital of Gujarat and is also known as Green City. It houses many welknown institutes in india like IIT-G, IIPHG, NID, DAIICT, PDU Petroleum University. All these institutes cater many students from all over the india. GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar is now a well-established, developing college. It has all infrastructure including 800 bedded General Hospital and an upcoming huge college campus. From the year 2012, every year 150 students will be admitted to GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar. We have made sure about all your necessities and have made provisions for the students in the college campus. I am confident that we together will be able to overcome any difficulty that you come across. Please don’t forget that “GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar is our own medical college”! INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE STUDENTS AND PARENTS Hostel: There are two hostels, one for boys and one for girls with equal no. of seats. If you are planning to stay in hostel, fill in hostel admission form and hand it over for quick processing. Mess facility is available in Hostel,College Canteen. No private electronic or electric equipment or furniture will be allowed in hostel. Report: You should report to the Medical College timely to complete the formalities like bond etc. The college is located in General Hospital Campus in Gandhinagar. It is just a walkalble distance from the State transport Bus terminus. How to reach Gandhinagar: Gandhinagar being the twin city of Ahmedabad is well connected by rail and road to all the major cities and town of Gujarat. One can reach Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad by air also.
1. Rail : All the Major cities are well connected with Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar.
2. Road : From Ahmedabad, it is 20kms. It is 100 kms from Vadodara, 220 kms from Bhavnagar, and 325 kms from Rajkot. Frequent S.T. and private luxury buses ply to and fro Ahmedabad at all time daily connecting it with all the major cities / towns like Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Surat and Rajkot etc. From Ahmedabad, state transport buses are available from Gita Mandir area and private luxury buses from Paldi Char Rasta. Private bus service operators from Ahmedabad are –Patel Travels: 992524451,52, 079-26576749, Tanna Travels 079-26575872, 079-26576351, Rajdhani Travels 079-26589444, 079-26585444 and New-Limda Travels: 079-26579319.
3. Air : One can reach Ahmedabad by air from Mumbai, New Delhi and from major cities.
Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel International Airport is very well connected with the major cities of the india.
Fee and Deposits:
Fees for General quota student is Rs 3,00,000 per annum, Management quota students
is Rs 7,86,000 per annum and for NRI students $17,000 per annum, which is decided by
the RJ Shah Fee Committee every year.

The one time Hostel Deposit is Rs. 5000/- which will be refundable while leaving the
Hostel, for which students need to produce original receipt of payment and annual
hostel fees is Rs 6,000.
College caution money, Library fee per term, Hostel - Fee and deposit for one term and
student’ association fee per term will be collected at the time of reporting.
Mess charges will be extra.
Enrollment/Eligibility certificate fee is to be paid to Gujarat University along with the
enrollment form.
You have to pay for journals and answer books of part ending examination, terminal
examinations and preliminary internal assessment examination separately to the
respective departments.

Following items you have to procure and brought at the time of reporting.
2 white aprons with full sleeves & name plate with black background and white letters,
dissection box for human body dissection, bone set, a set of Automated disposable pricking
lancets.
For the students who wants to get admission in hostel they should bring / purchase following
things – 1 mattress, 1 blanket, 2 pillow cover, 2 bed sheets, 2 towels, 2 white handkerchief, 2
small napkins, 2 pairs of shocks, 1 nail cutter, Shaving kit for boys, needle and white thread,
Black shoe polish & shoe brush , bathroom sleepers, sport shoes, 1 twenty liters bucket & a
tumbler with student name on it with marker pen, washing soap / powder, bathing soap & Soap
cash / shampoo, tooth brush, tooth paste & tooth brush holder, tongue cleaner ,Oil and comb,
suitable size mirror, 6 aluminum hangars, 12 feet plastic string, 5 liters plastic water jug, a
packet of wax candles with match box or a small torch, 1 stain less steel Tiffin carrier, (Though

the electric failure is not common in Gandhinagar it is better to keep emergency light and
mobile phone with a instruction not to use in college premises).
Initial difficulties in studies and books:
As you already know that in 1st MBBS you have to read three subjects i.e. Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. These subjects’ senior professors and other staff members of college will help you in solving initial difficulties related to studies. 1. Dr. S. S. The list of Books to be purchased is shown in the website’s Department page. It is recommended that only those books which shown under the heading “prescribed books”should be procured. In addition, some of the books listed under “Additional reading” may be procured; it is not necessary to procure all the books under the heading “Additional books”. Do not procure any other book not shown in either of these lists as they are not recommended by the teachers of the respective departments, also purchase the latest available edition only. There are good library facilities. The Library is located in First Floorof the College building. There are more than 5000 books with internet facility. There are two students reading rooms each for Boys and Girls. You can contact Dr. Jasmin Diwan, Professor and Head, Department of Physiology, in charge library, Dr. Amit Shah, Assistant Professor, Pharmacology for any help related to Library. Bank Account: Almost all major banks have their branches in Gandhinagar, are located at Gh Road nearby college. Just 1 K.M. away from college. Due to stringent R.B.I. regulations, it is advisable to bring the identification letter/ certificate from your present bankers along with 2 recent passport size photographs which will facilitate in opening the bank account.
Medical Services:
GMERS Medical College and General Hospital, attached to Medical College, Gandhinagar is a
300 bedded hospital at present where all major specialist services are available. It is to be
developed into 750bedded Hospital. There are number of private practitioners practicing all
specialties in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.

All the teaching staff of college will help in curbing the ragging in Medical College campus. You can take help of any teacher of college. Freshers should know their rights as bonafide students of the institution and should desist from doing anything against their will even if ordered by the seniors, and that they have nothing to fear as the institution cares for them and shall not tolerate any atrocities against them.

Academic Terms and Examinations: The First MBBS academic term of Gujarat University to which this medical college is affiliated are as under:

Dates will be decided by the University Examination Section. Gujarat University, following the revised M.C.I. regulations regarding curriculum, examination etc. The 1st MBBS course will comprise of two academic terms (as mentioned above). University examination and result period is included in these two academic terms. University examination will be conducted in 2nd term (i.e. in August 2015). To appear in University examination, as per the M.C.I. and Gujarat University Guide lines, students should have minimum 75% attendance in both theory and practical and minimum 35 % marks in internal examinations. Students who will not secure requisite attendance and internal marks; will not be allowed to appear in University Examination. As per Supreme Court Order, Ragging is strictly prohibited in this GMERS Medical College,
Hospital, Hostels and Campus.
Ragging means the following
RAGGING” INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: ANY CONDUCT WHETHER BY WORDS SPOKEN OR WRITTEN OR BY AN ACT WHICH HAS THE EFFECT OF HARASSING, TEASING, TREATING OR HANDLING WITH RUDENESS ANY OTHER STUDENT, INDULGING IN ROWDY OR UNDISCIPLINED ACTIVITIES WHICH CAUSES OR IS LIKELY TO CAUSE ANNOYANCE, HARDSHIP OR PSYCHOLOGICAL HARM OR TO RAISE FEAR OR APPREHENSION THEREOF IN A FRESHER OR A JUNIOR STUDENT OR ASKING THE STUDENTS TO DO ANY ACT OR PERFORM SOMETHING WHICH SUCH STUDENT WILL NOT IN THE ORDINARY COURSE AND WHICH HAS THE EFFECT OF CAUSING OR GENERATING A SENSE OF SHAME OR EMBARRASSMENT SO AS TO ADVERSELY AFFECT THE PHYSIQUE OR PSYCHE OF A FRESHER OR A JUNIOR STUDENT. THE CONDUCT INCLUDES BUT IS NOT RESTRICTED TO ANY ACT BY A SENIOR STUDENT THAT PREVENTS, DISRUPTS OR

DISTURBS THE REGULAR ACADEMIC ACTIVITY OF ANY OTHER STUDENT OR A FRESHER; EXPLOITING THE SERVICES OF A FRESHER, OR ANY OTHER STUDENTS FOR COMPLETING THE ACADEMIC TASKS ASSIGNED TO AN INDIVIDUAL OR A GROUP OF STUDENTS; ANY ACT OF FINANCIAL EXTORTION OR FORCEFUL EXPENDITURE BURDEN PUT ON A FRESHER OR ANY OTHER STUDENT BY STUDENTS; ANY ACT OF PHYSICAL ABUSE INCLUDING ALL VARIANTS OF IT: SEXUAL ABUSE, HOMOSEXUAL ASSAULTS, STRIPPING, FORCING OBSCENE AND LEWD ACTS, GESTURES, CAUSING BODILY HARM OR ANY OTHER DANGER TO HEALTH OR PERSON; ANY ACT OR ABUSE BY SPOKEN WORDS, EMAILS, POST, PUBLIC INSULTS WHICH WOULD ALSO INCLUDE DERIVING PERVERTED PLEASURE, "VICARIOUS OR SADISTIC THRILL FROM ACTIVITY OR PASSIVELY PARTICIPATING IN THE DISCOMFITURE TO FRESHER OR ANY OTHER STUDENTS; ANY ACT THAT AFFECTS THE MENTAL HEALTH AND SELF-CONFIDENCE OF A FRESHER OR ANY OTHER STUDENT WITH OR WITHOUT AN INTENT TO DERIVE A SADISTIC PLEASURE OR SHOWING OFF POWER, AUTHORITY OR SUPERIORITY BY A STUDENT OVER ANY FRESHER OR ANY OTHER STUDENT.
PUNISHABLE INGREDIENTS OF RAGGING:- • ABETMENT TO RAGGING; • CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY TO RAG; • UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY AND RIOTING WHILE RAGGING; • PUBLIC NUISANCE CREATED DURING RAGGING; • VIOLATION OF DECENCY AND MORALS THROUGH RAGGING; • INJURY TO BODY, CAUSING HURT OR GRIEVOUS HURT; • WRONGFUL RESTRAINT; • WRONGFUL CONFINEMENT; • USE OF CRIMINAL FORCE; • ASSAULT AS WELL AS SEXUAL OFFENCES OR EVEN UNNATURAL OFFENCES; • EXTORTION; • CRIMINAL TRESPASS; • OFFENCES AGAINST PROPERTY; • CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION; • ATTEMPTS TO COMMIT ANY OR ALL OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED OFFENCES AGAINST THE VICTIM(S); • PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL HUMILIATION. • ALL OTHER OFFENCES FOLLOWING FROM THE DEFINITION OF “RAGGING”.
Punishments:-Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti- Ragging
Committee of the Institute, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the Institute
level shall be any one or any combination of the following:-
1. Cancellation of admission
2. Suspension from attending classes
3. Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits
4. Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process
5. Withholding results
6. Debarring from representing the Institute in any regional, national or international
meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
7. Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel
8. Rustication from the Institute for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters
9. Expulsion from the Institute and consequent debarring from admission to any other
Institute
10 Fine of Rupees 25,000/-

11 Collective punishments: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not
identified, the Institute shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure
on the potential raggers.
Uptil now, no ragging case is reported in our campus.

હોસ્ટેલમાાંરહતેા વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીનીઓ માટેના વનયમોોઃ- (૧) હોસ્ટેલના કમ્પાઉન્ડ તેમજ રૂમમાાં રેંગીગ કરવ ાં નહી તર્થા રેગીંગ પ્રવવૃતને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવ ાં
નહી. સ વપ્રમ કોટટના આદેશ મ જબ કોઇ પણ વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીની રેગીંગના અન સાંધાનમાાં
પકડાશે. તો વનયમ મ જબ સખ્ત કાયટિાહી કરિામાાં આિશે.
(૨) સોસાયટીએ ફાળિેલ હોસ્ટેલ રૂમન ાં ફવનિચર તર્થા માલસામાનની સાંપણૂટ જિાબદારી જે તે
વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીનીની રહશેે. તેમજ ફાળિેલ રૂમમાાં ફવનિચરમાાં ફેરફાર કે હરેાફેરી કરી શકાશે
નહી.
(૩) સોસાયટીએ અવધકૃત કરેલ વ્યકકતની રજા વસિાય (પિૂટ માંજૂરી વસિાય) કોઇપણ વ્યકકતએ
હોસ્ટેલમાાં પ્રિેશ કરિાની મનાઇ છે.
(૪) હોસ્ટેલમાાં શાાંવત અને વશસ્તન ાં ચ સ્તપણે પાલન કરિાન ાં રહશેે.
(૫) કોઇપણ વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીનીએ બહારના કોઇપણ વ્યકકત કે સગા સાંબાંધીને હોસ્ટેલના રૂમમાાં
રહિેા દેિાની સખ્ત મનાઇ છે.
(૬) હોસ્ટેલના કમ્પાઉન્ડ તર્થા રૂમમા ધ મ્રપાન, પાન મસાલા, ગ ટકા તર્થા નશીલા પદાર્થોન ાં
સેિાન કરિાની સખ્ત મનાઇ છે.
(૭) વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીનીએ કોઇપણ ગેરબાંધારણીય પ્રવવૃત રાષ્ટ્રવિરોધી પ્રવવૃત કરિાની સખ્ત
મનાઇ છે.
(૮) હોસ્ટેલમાાં બબનઅવધકૃત વ્યકકતને મ લાકાત આપી શકાશે નહી.
(૯) મ કરર કરેલ મ લાકાતના સમય સાાંજે ૬.૦૦ ર્થી ૮.૦૦ વસિાય આકસ્મીક સાંજોગો વસિાય
મળી શકાશે નહી.
(૧૦) રાવિના ૯.૦૦ િાગ્યે હોસ્ટેલના દરિાજા બાંધ કરી દેિામાાં આિશે. ત્યારબાદ અવનિાયટ
સાંજોગો વસિાય અિર-જિર કરિી નહી જો અવનિાયટ સાંજોગો ઉપસ્સ્ર્થત ર્થાય તો હોસ્ટેલમાાં
અિર-જિર કરિા હોસ્ટેલ અવધક્ષકશ્રીની પિૂટ માંજૂરી મેળિિી જરૂરી રહશેે. અને વનયત
કરેલ રજીસ્ટરમાાં સાંપણૂટ વિગત સારે્થ માકહતી લખિાની રહશેે.

(૧૧) કોઇપણ પ્રકારના િીજળીના ઉપકરણો જેિા કે ફ્રીજ, એ.સી. ક લર િગેરે
વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીનીઓ પોતાના રૂમમાાં લાિી શકાશે નહી તર્થા િાપરી શકાશે નહી.
(૧૨) હોસ્ટેલની રૂમમાાં મોબાઇલ ફોનનો ઉપયોગ અન્યને ખલેલ પડે તે રીતે કરી શકાશે નહી.
તેમજ મોબાઇલ ફોન રાખિા હોસ્ટેલ અવધક્ષકશ્રીની પિૂટ માંજૂરી મેળિિાની રહશેે.
(૧૩) વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીનીએ હોસ્ર્ટેલમાાં ટેપરેકોડટર તર્થા મ્ય ઝીક િગેરેનો ઉપયોગ બીજાને ખલેલ
પડે તેિી રીતે કરિો નહી. તેમજ બીજી કોઇ પ્રવવૃત િડે બીજાને ખલેલ પહોંચાડિી નહી.
(૧૪) મોબાઇલ ફોન, કેશ તર્થા અન્ય કકિંમતી િસ્ત ઓ િગેરેની કાળજીપિૂટક સાંભાળિાની
જિાબદારી જે તે વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીની રહશેે.
(૧૫) વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીનીએ પોતાન ાં ઓળખકાડટ સારે્થ રાખવ ાં ફરજીયાત છે.
(૧૬) હોસ્ટેલની રૂમમાાં સીંલીગ ફેન તર્થા અન્ય ઉપકરણો બાંધ કરી પછી જ બહાર નીકળવ તર્થા
લાઇટ અને પાણીનો બીન જરૂરી બગાડ કરિો નહી.
(૧૭) હોસ્ટેલમાાં જયાાં ત્યાાં થ ાંકી, પાણી ઢોળી હોસ્ટેલની સ્િચ્છતા તર્થા સ ાંદરતાને બગાડિી નહી.
(૧૮) હોસ્ટેલ રૂમની કદિાલ પર કોઇ પણ પોસ્ટર ચોંટાડિા તર્થા લખાણ કરવ ાં નહી.
(૧૯) હોસ્ટેલના સ્ટાફ સારે્થ સભ્યતાપિૂટક િતટવ ાં તેમજ તેમને પોતાના અંગત કામો બતાિિા
નહી.
(૨૦) હોસ્ટેલમાાં િાહનો યોગ્ય રીતે પાકટ કરિા તેમજ પોતાના િાહનોની સાંપણૂટપણે જિાબદારી
વિધાર્થી/વિધાર્થીની રહશેે.
(૨૧) હોસ્ટેલ ની ફી એકિાર ભયાટ પછી પરત મળી શકશે નહી.
(૨૨) હોસ્ટેલના વનયમોમાાં ફેરફાર કરિા માટે હોસ્ટેલની અવધકૃત કરેલ કવમટીને વનયમોમાાં ફેરફાર
કરિાની સાંપણૂટપણે સત્તા છે.
