‘‘HEAL the world and make it a bet-ter place’’, sang the late MichaelJackson.
He understood the need to pro-tect our environment so our chil-dren and their children can livehappily in it.
Cabramatta High School has triedits best to carry on this message.
The school’s environmental club
has been ensuring all classroomlights are off when not in use, sci-ence students have been plantingtrees and the school is recyclingpaper and cardboard regularly.
However, the school wants to domore and earlier this month agroup of students attended the2010 International Year of Biod-iversity event in Sydney.
Event organisers selected Cabra-matta High School and 20 otherschools from NSW to help raise
awareness of the loss of naturalresources and the effect on people.
The event offered education, activities and presentations in a funand interactive way.
“I never realised how much myactions and recreational activitiescan affect the environment,’’ year 8student Shayla Dang said.
‘‘This event has really made mefeel guilty. I will try my best tobecome more environmentallyfriendly.”
Event organiser Christine Wood-land thanked students who atten-ded for their commitment and hardwork. ‘‘You have helped us in pro-moting awareness of the effects ofhuman activities on the environ-ment,’’ she said.
Cabramatta High School studentswill bring the information back toschool to share with their peers andwill continue to come up with waysto make the school more environ-mentally friendly.
