Studies in John’s GospelJohn chapter 11
How Shall We Glorify the Son?V. 5-8 – With courage
Romans 8:15For you did not
receive the spirit of slavery to fall
back into fear, but you have received
the Spirit of adoption as
sons, by whom we cry, “Abba!
Father!”
2 Timothy 1:7…for God gave us a spirit
not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
Acts 19:30-31 But when Paul wished to go
in among the crowd, the disciples would not let
him. 31 And even some of the Asiarchs, who were
friends of his, sent to him and were urging him not to venture into the theater.
The courage to SERVE glorifies
the Son
• to obey
• to develop talents
• to share gospel
• to stand firm

doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give

that acknowledge his name. 16 Do not

pleasing to God.Pleasing to God
How Shall We Glorify the Son?V. 5-8 – With courageV. 14-16 – With actionV. 34-35 – With empathy
The capacity to recognize and… share feelings that are being experienced by others.

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
By love and showing honor
1 Thessalonians 4:9-10 Now concerning brotherly love you have no
need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love
one another, 10 …But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more,
By loving more and more
1 Peter 1:22Having purified your
souls by your obedience to the
truth for a sincere brotherly love, love
one another earnestly from a
pure heart,
Sincere enough to be seen by others
How will “empathy” be seen?
How Shall We Glorify the Son?V. 5-8 – With courageV. 14-16 – With actionV. 34-35 – With empathyV. 6, 54 – With wisdom
Wisdom knows what time it is…

This time is passing for another, better one

days are evil.

has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we
first believed.
1 Peter 4:17For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do
not obey the gospel of God? Wisdom says the time of judgment draws near
Wisdom says the time to act is growing short

favorable time I listened to you,and in a day of
salvation I have helped you.”

day of salvation. Wisdom says the time of judgment draws near
