Assessment

The Award is assessed through written assignments, production of a lesson plan, delivery and an observation of a micro teach. All candidates will be required to attend a micro teach day which will be arranged by In2Ambition.

Progression

The qualification gives candidates a minimum threshold to teach, which some organisations will accept for employment. Candidates can also undertake the following if they meet the minimum requirements:

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

Level 3 Award in Education & Training 600/9554/4

Programme: Approximately 6-12 weeks Qualification No: 6502-31 Entry Requirements: Age 19+ GLH: 48-61

Overview

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introduction to teaching and learning and is aimed at those whose role may not be teaching or those who would like to develop their knowledge of education and training.

Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusion and meeting the needs of learners.

Candidates will be required to be involved in one hour of micro teach, developing a lesson plan, delivering and assessing for a minimum of 15 minutes and observe others, giving constructive feedback to them for 45 minutes.

Modules & Assignments

Throughout this course there are three units to complete equating to 12 credits:

1. Roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

2. Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching in education and training

3. Understanding assessment in education and training

Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training 601/0253/6

Programme: Approximately 26 weeks Qualification Number: 6502-41 Credits: 36 GLH: 140 (plus 30 teaching hours)

Overview

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a teaching qualification which requires the candidate to undertake 30 hours of teaching practice in either an employed or voluntary basis, therefore it is suitable for both in-service and pre-service (those who are not currently employed as a teacher) candidates.

Candidates will gain a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher in relation to legislation, equality and diversity, inclusion and meeting the needs of learners. They will demonstrate their skills in planning, delivery, and design and assessment techniques and will require 3 hours of teaching to be observed.

3. Delivering education and training

4. Assessing learners in education and training

5. Using resources in education and training

If candidates have undertaken the PTLLS or Level 3 Award in Education and Training, they are able to APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning) the roles, responsibilities and relationships module.

Assessment

Candidates will be assessed through written assignments, observations and product evidence.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be a minimum age of 19.

Candidates should be qualified/ experienced in the subject they intend to teach.

All trainee teachers joining this programme will undertake an initial assessment of skills in English, Mathematics and ICT. On joining the programme, if candidates have already completed a recent initial assessment, their record of development needs and previous actions to address them, will be reviewed.

Progression

The qualification allows candidates to progress into employment as teachers, dependent on the employers’ minimum requirements. Candidates may also wish to develop their skills further by completing the following:

Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training 601/0254/8

Programme: Approximately 52 weeks Qualification Number: 6502-51 GLH: 360 Hours (plus 100 teaching hours)

Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification which has a practice requirement of 100 teaching hours, either as an in-service teacher/trainer or pre-service (those not employed as a teacher), in a voluntary capacity for students aged 14 plus.

Candidates will be required to complete written assignments using Harvard referencing, analytical and critical thinking skills. Candidates will need to demonstrate their application of theories and principles in education and training in their practice within their development and delivery of the curriculum.

Within the 100 hours of teaching, there is a requirement of 8 hours of observation of which 4 must attain Grade 2 to the Ofsted grading standard.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be a minimum age of 19.

Candidates should be qualified/ experienced in the subject they intend to teach and have access to 100 teaching practice hours. Where candidates have completed CTLLS or Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, they may APL 20 hours of teaching practice and 2 observations.

It is recommended that all candidates be working to a minimum of a Level 2 in English, Mathematics and ICT. If upon joining the programme the candidate has already completed a recent initial assessment, their record of development needs and previous actions to address them, will be reviewed.

Progression

The qualification allows candidates to progress into employment as teachers/trainers in organisations whose learners are 14+. Candidates will also be able to apply for QTLS from the Education and Training Foundation.

Candidates can also complete the Literacy and Numeracy specialist units if not selected in their main award.

They may also apply to Universities to undertake the BA Honours degree in Education.

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement 501/1679/4

Programme: Approximately 12 weeks Qualification No: 6317-33 Entry Requirements: Age 19+ GLH: Minimum 84 Hours

Overview

This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace. This qualification is for candidates who would like to be a fully qualified assessor for learners in either the classroom and/or the work environment. This course will enable you to assess competencies in a range of qualifications such as; Apprenticeships, Functional Skills, Technical Certificates, NVQ’s, Awards, Certificates and Diplomas.

Modules & Assignments:Throughout this course there will be three units to be completed equating to 15 credits:

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

2. Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment

3. Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding Entry Requirements:Candidates are required to be employed within an environment where they have access to apprentices who are undertaking a NVQ in their occupational subject.

Programme: Approximately 4 weeks Qualification No: 6317-30 Entry Requirements: Age 19+ GLH: Minimum 24 Hour

Overview

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment is a knowledge-only award for anyone interested in knowing more about assessment or who need to know about assessment practice as part of their role but who are not currently practicing. This might include people like aspiring assessors or as a professional development qualification for managers, HR or quality assurance personnel.

Modules & Assignments

Throughout this course there will be one unit to be completed equating to 3 credits:

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification.

Progression

Candidates are able to progress onto Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Candidates must hold a minimum of Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification in their subject area, along with currency of practice in order to assess to the qualification standards.

Progression

Candidates are able to progress onto Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice after 12 months experience as a practicing assessor.

Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes & Practice 501/1649/6

Programme: Approximately 4 weeks Qualification No: 6317-40 Entry Requirements: Age 19+ GLH: Minimum 45 Hours

Overview

A knowledge-only award for those who are starting their journey as an internal quality assurance practitioneror for those who need to know about internal qualityassurance but who are not carrying out qualityassurance themselves. This might include people like experienced assessors or centre managers, HR or quality assurance personnel.

Throughout this course there will be one unit to be completed equating to 6 credits:

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification.

Progression

Candidates are able to progress onto Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes & Practice, if the learner has completed the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement and has been working as an Assessor for at least 12 months.

Programme: Approximately 12 weeks Qualification No: 6317-41 GLH: Minimum 90 Hours

Overview

For practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre or organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors.

Throughout this course there are two units to be completed equating to 12 credits:

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

2. Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

Entry Requirements

Learners must be a minimum age of 19.

Candidates must hold an Assessors Award, such as D32/33, A1 or the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement for a minimum period of 12 months and be employed as a practicing assessor.

Progression:

Candidates are able to progress onto Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.

Overview

This course is for practitioners who lead the internal quality assurance process within a centre/organisation and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment process, practice and the performance of assessors. They may also develop systems and lead on visits from outside agencies such as awarding organisations.

Modules & Assignments

Throughout this course there are three units to complete equating to 17 credits:

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

2. Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

3. Lead the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment

Entry Requirements

Candidates must hold an Assessors Award, such as D32/33, A1 or the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Related Achievement for a minimum period of 12 months and be employed as a practicing assessor.

Progression

Development to an External Quality Assurer for an Awarding Organisation where they meet the minimum requirements.
