Page 4: Style Me Pretty Fashion & Beauty Magazine

recently did a photoshoot for Nordstrom, “modeling” their new exclusive collection of Reem Acra gowns. Gowns that were so pretty, I nearly cried. And I use the term modeling very loosely because if we’re being honest, I’m 33, have two babies and am seven years into calling myself a Mrs. But despite all the years past, it was still a total dream, with layers and layers of tulle and crystal and pretty pretty things that made me wish I could do it all over again. Details that reminded me of that little girl who used to dress up in my mom’s sparkly clothes and prance around the house a bride, marrying one care bear or cabbage patch doll after another. And although I may not look exactly like the girl who tied the knot nearly a decade ago, I definitely felt like her. And the photos that Sal Cincotta snapped … well, they turned out so lovely, I can hardly believe it’s me peering into the camera.

When we decided to launch this special SMP Fashion edition in four weeks time, we knew we might be just a hair crazy. After all, fashion is the crux of a beautiful wedding. The bride, perfect in a gown that she just might only wear once.

The groom, in threads so chic he can actually bring a house of guests to their feet. Maids all in a row, perfect flower girls, crazy gorgeous headpieces and jewels and shoes. Oh, the shoes. How in the world could we possibly capture the sentiment, the texture, the beauty of the SMP bride in just a few weeks?

But you know what? We did it. And we’re so proud of the finished product. Because throughout the journey, we realized what truly makes Style Me Pretty great. We trust ourselves. We trust our taste. We trust that with a bit of editing, a bit of glitter and a bit of glam ... magic can happen. And we knew that we could design a fashion and beauty magazine that would transform a bride right back into that giddy little girl she was the moment she said yes.

Our hope is that through the pages of this magazine you will find a little nugget of yourself. That you remind yourself that style doesn’t subscribe to one look or one genre. That style can be poignant as seen through the eyes of a rustic bride just as can be seen through the eyes of a modern or understated bride. Fashion is personal. It’s meaningful. It’s expressive. And most of all ... it’s about you.

The secret to looking natural on your wedding day: face and brows!

Page 36: Style Me Pretty Fashion & Beauty Magazine

STYLE ME PRETTY

36

Moisturize like it’s going out of style! Use a hydrating cream, such as Regenessence by Giorgio Armani with SPF 15, before applying your foundation. Be sure to skip the primer, which tends to dry out the skin. Then its on to round two! Combine your water-based moisturizer with a water-based foundation, such as Bobbi Brown's moisturizing formula, or for some extra glow, try Armani "Hydra Glow" foundation. Mix the two and apply using a foundation brush — try Bobbi Brown’s foundation brush for an even application.

For a natural brow, use a matte shadow one shade lighter than your brow and gently fill in. The key is to frame your face — no Frida Kahlo brows here! For blondes, Bobbi Brown’s "Toast" eyeshadow works great. Brunettes, try using "Sienna" shadow by Smashbox, and red heads, go with "Magic Night" by Chanel.

For the perfect natural pout, use a stain that is one shade brighter than your natural lip color. One of my favorites is "Endless Spice" by Revlon Color Stay. Another one of my favorite stains is "Rose Agate" Rouge Double Intensite by Chanel. Gently apply, dab off the excess for a light application, and add a little clear gloss for a natural shine.

Add a touch of this or that to enhance your beauty!

Dress up the eyes with a touch of shimmer. Mac Cream Color Base in "Shell" is magic on the eyes and adds just enough brightness to your look. Sweep a little MAC Loose Pigment in "Pink Opal" across the lid, then add "Aperture" (a soft peach color) by Smashbox in the crease. Finish off with a matte light shadow such as "Bone" by Bobbi Brown under the brow bone as the finishing touch.

For a fresh, blushy cheek add "Rose" or "Fuchsia" Convertible Color by Stila. Gently dab onto the apple of the cheek, using a makeup sponge for a more subtle appearance.

For the lips, try MAC's “Hey Sailor” liquid lip balm for a fun shine with pop. Plus, it has SPF 20!

From runway to the aisle, any bride can walk on the glam side on her wedding day!

Page 44: Style Me Pretty Fashion & Beauty Magazine

Smoke up those eyes with a creme shadow by NARS in "Lido" or "Lili Marlene." Apply all over the lid, up to the crease of the eye. Generously apply "Night Clubbing" by NARS to the lid instead of a matte black. Take a blending shadow brush, such as NARS Shader Brush #3, and smudge only around the outside of the darkest color, blending the outline of the lid into the crease. Line the water line of your eyes (the inside of the eye) on both top and bottom with Waterproof Aqua Black by Makeup Forever. It's the best gel liner. Finish off with our very own TEAM custom lashes, which come in short to medium lengths with a thick base for added drama!

Soft cheeks are a must! Apply a pale peach blush such as "Douceur" by NARS, and add just a spot of color to the outside of the cheekbone. Add MAC Matte Bronzer to the hollow part of the cheek for a more defined look.

For lips, go nude! Try Giorgio Armani’s "Plums" or "Beige" lipstick, and apply a soft shimmer gloss such as "Sugar" by Bobbi Brown Essentials. Soft and romantic!

Headpiece Inspiration by Jennifer Behr

Photography by Belathée

VeiledThe name Jennifer Behr has become synonymous with beauty.

Her inspired headpieces and accessories beguile even the most discerning artists and designers with each piece handcrafted to

utter gallery-worthy perfection. And just for you, she's opening up that veil of genius and letting us see the inspiration behind beauty.

Can you speak to the

different types of head

pieces you offer and how

they relate to the different

types of gowns that brides

choose? Do you find that

the J. Behr bride tends to

lean towards one bridal

style or another?

More and more, brides are becoming

adventurous with their wedding day

style. My bridal collection was born out

of demand — for friends and editors who

loved the fashion collection and wanted

to wear something distinctive for their

wedding. So, if there is a Jennifer Behr

bride, she is a fashion-forward woman

who is looking for a unique heirloom

piece for her wedding day. But, as a

general rule for accessories and jewelry,

brides should try to find a headpiece that

is in the spirit of their dress. If a dress

is architectural and modern, a bride

should look for a piece that has clean

lines. Likewise, if a dress is fluttery

and romantic, look for a softer hair

accessory, such as like a chiffon piece

or one of our Grecian halos. Of course,

crystals go with almost everything.

Page 54: Style Me Pretty Fashion & Beauty Magazine

STYLE ME PRETTY

54

I collect materials and images wherever I go — I always have a design

notebook with me. This bridal season, I looked specifically at 1920’s

French photographs. The styles of the carefree bohemia are incredible

when re-interpreted for today. I also studied photos of the solar system

to inspire the crystal patterns. Each one of our pieces is made entirely

by hand in New York, so I work to design items that highlight the

craftsmanship of each piece.

Personal style, first and foremost. And, personal fit — remember that

headpieces are designed to frame the face, and that the headpiece

is the first accessory people will see, well before they notice shoes.

So a bride should take the time to find something beautiful that

complements her and looks elegant in photographs.

I suggest brides take the time to find something that works with their

unique features. If a bride is wearing a headband, wider ones tend to

look good on rounder faces, and petite styles tend to look best with

narrower features. In general, brides can modernize the traditional

headband by wearing it closer to the hairline, rather than pushing it all

the way back on the head. And I always suggest letting a few strands

of hair fall out to softly frame the face. Finally, if a bride is wearing a

veil: have a hair stylist style your hair and accessory where you want

them, and simply put the veil over the top of everything. Then when the

veil comes off after the ceremony, your hair will be perfect.

They say inspiration is everywhere.

Is there one moment or piece or

color or texture that really served

as your inspiration launch pad with

this collection?

When choosing a headpiece,

what are the main criteria that

a bride should consider?

56

If you could design a piece for

a celebrity bride, who would it be

and what would you do?

From one Brooklynite to another, I would love to design a piece for

Michelle Williams. Unconventional brides are our favorite, and it would

be super-fun to do an elegant headband or headwrap for her pixie cut.

What is your one personal

style must-have?

It’s pretty hard for me to leave the house without a headband or comb or

barrette of some type. Now that it’s getting warm, I’ve been wearing my hair

up in a French twist with a cluster of crystal barrettes clipped in.

I wanted bird cages, driftwood, globes, maps, frames and tons of soft lighting, accompanied by Spanish jazz.

After Kevin popped the question, we wanted to get married right away! We chose the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa for an elopement with just parents and siblings.

Page 113: Style Me Pretty Fashion & Beauty Magazine

I wanted to make sure that my younger brother, Pat, who had passed away a few years ago, was remembered. One of the ways I expressed this was by tying an old keepsake of his to my bouquet, which I held on to very tightly.

Very early on, we knew that we wanted

an intimate setting surrounded by our

closest family and friends. We chose

the Hudson Valley, where we never

tire of the breathtaking landscape

with views of the river and mountains. 113

Because of our extraordinary love for each

other, we knew that we had to celebrate our

love in an extraordinary way. Our wedding was

reflective of this. I have always loved anything

vintage-inspired. My grandma also played a

huge part in bringing us together, so we wanted

to honor her memory with photos and relics of

her past. Each table was named after a relative

of ours, represented by a sepia photo placed in

the center of the table. This vintage theme was

the inspiration for much of the wedding and

helped tie everything together. 129
