1. INTRODUCTION All Mitech Control Valves are designed as top entry for ease of maintenance. The bonnet and actuator assembly can be removed for servicing from the body without removing the body from the line. This feature also facilitates changing of the trim and Cv’s of the valve. 2. 3. INLINE GLOBE CONTROL VALVE BODY

The inline Globe Body is the most versatile in the whole range, as not only can it accommodate all the trims and accessories Mitech offers but it also accommodates various different end connections as will be discussed below. The bodies are made from castings.

3.1. END CONNECTIONS

3.1.1. Hub End Body Also known as the separable flange body as it has been designed to accommodate loose flanges. The flange is slipped over the hub end and then two steel half rings are inserted into a groove and tack welded together for retention. These bodies are all rated in accordance to ASME B 16.34 – 1988 to maximum of ASME 600#.

The advantage of this style is that one body can be used with a wide variety of different flange standard and ratings. The valve body rating is subject to the rating of the flange used, to a maximum pressure rating of ASME 600#. Other advantages are that the body can be installed at any angle and that pipe flange misalignment can be overcome by rotating the flange. Since the flanges do not come into contact with the fluid it is often possible to use Carbon Steel flanges on bodies made from expensive materials. 3.1.2. Integral Flange Body

In this version the flange and body are cast as one piece. This style of body is usually supplied for valve sizes of 150mm and above. The size and Face-to-Face (F-F) dimensions available are as below: -

3.1.3. Butt Weld End Body

When a valve body is required to be an integral part of the pipeline this style of body is offered. The ends of the body are designed and produced in accordance with ASME B16.5-1988 and the body is rated in accordance with ASME B16.34-1988, to a maximum of ASME 600#. Where practical it is advised that the actuator and trim are removed during welding and the lines flushed prior to re-building the valve. The size and Face-to-Face (F-F) dimensions available are as below: -

3.1.4. Ring Type Joint Flange (RTJ – Flange)

In this version the flanges and body are integral. This style of flange end is an international legal requirement for any valve that is going to handle radioactive fluid.

The sizes available in this style of end flange are 25mm (1”) to 150mm (6”). The Face-to-Face dimensions for each size depend on the pressure rating required for the application. Bodies with this style of end flange are fabricated and need design and therefore it is not possible to have a table with Face-to-Face dimensions.

Refer to ASME B16.10-1992 Table 11 for full Face to Face dimensions. Refer to ASME B16.5-1988 Table 5 for full details on Ring Joint faces.

3.1.5. Screwed End

In this version the hub end globe control valve body is modified by threading the inlet and outlet bore.

4. ANGLE VALVE BODY

The angle control valve body is designed to pass flow sharply through an angle of 90º. These bodies are recommended for use on, • Flashing applications; with flow over conditions • Large pressure drop conditions for gases and vapours, with flow under

conditions, where the inlet pipe size is small, and the outlet pipe size is large, to accommodate the expansion of the gas.

They accommodate all the trims stated in Technical Production Bulletin No. 1. These bodies are made from castings or fabricated from raw materials. Cast bodies are rated in accordance with ASME B16.34-1988 to a maximum of ASME 4500#. Fabricated bodies are rated in accordance with ASME B16.34-1988 to accommodate the process conditions per application, and all welding is done in accordance with ASME VIII.

150#) 5. SWEEP ANGLE VALVE BODY

The sweep angle control valve body is designed to pass flow smoothly through an angle of 90º. These bodies are recommended for use where the fluid being controlled has a high viscosity or has a high liquid-particle suspension i.e. slurries. The bore of the body can be tungsten carbide coated to give additional protection against severe abrasion. The trim in these valves is usually made from tungsten carbide. The bodies are made from castings and are rated in accordance with ASME B16.34-1988 to a maximum of ASME 600#. The flange ends are integral.

6. THREE WAY GLOBE CONTROL VALVE BODY

The Three-way control valve body is designed with three ports. Its uses can be categorized under two major headings namely,

• Blending/Mixing: Here two of the ports are used as inlets and one as outlet. This configuration is used for applications where two fluids need to be mixed; the end result can range from temperature control to producing a new fluid.

• Diverting: Here one port is the inlet and the other two are outlets. This configuration is used for applications such as level control and pump by-pass control valves.

The Inline globe- and angle- control valve bodies form the base for this valve, combined with a 3-way adapter to give it; it’s three-way feature. The end connections can either be hub end or integral. The maximum pressure rating is dependant on the body-style, size and end connection chosen, (ref.: 3.1; 3.1.1; 3.1.2 & 3.2 /pg. 2-6).

7. HYGIENIC ANGLE VALVE BODY

The hygienic angle valve body is designed for sanitary service in the Food, Brewing and Medical Industries. The body is manufactured from 316 stainless steel bar and has a mirror finish that discourages the growth of bacteria. For ease of cleaning, the body has a cavity free design and is rated in accordance with ASME B16.34 – 1988 to a maximum of ASME-150# or ND16. The flange ends are integral and are either weld ends or dairy ends.

8. STEAM JACKETED INLINE GLOBE CONTROL VALVE BODY

The steam jacketed inline globe control valve body, is designed to maintain the body at a set temperature. This is done by passing hot fluid, such as steam, around the valve body thereby keeping the fluid inside the valve body warm and in a liquid state. The hub end inline globe control valve body is used as the base and is modified to incorporate the steam jacket. The flange ends become integral, and the flange drilling incorporates blind tapped holes. The bodies are rated in accordance with ASME B16.34 – 1988 to a maximum of ASME 600#. The Face-to-Face dimensions are as per the hub end Inline globe control valve body, (ref.: 4.2.1)

9. DOSING VALVE BODY

The dosing valve body is designed for applications where the dosing of precise amounts of fluid into a process is required. The body has been designed to:

• Accommodate various sizes of trims CV • In such a way that it cannot clog • So that it can be installed into ring main systems

The body and stub ends are manufactured from any one of the above-mentioned plastics (ref: 2 - Materials of construction) or stainless steel, making it erosion resistant. The dosing / outlet port size and Face-to-Face is designed to suit the trim size required. The bodies are rated for 600 kPa.

§ = To suit port and CV size 10. PLASTIC INLINE GLOBE CONTROL VALVE BODY

The plastic Inline globe control valve body is designed to accommodate aggressive fluids that attack the Inline globe control body made from steel. The body can be manufactured from any one of the above-mentioned plastics (ref: 2 - Materials of construction). The body is made from one piece of raw material. The flanges are integral to the body and are reinforced by two stainless steel half flange inserts on both ends, which are coupled by stainless steel tension rods. The stainless steel half

ring inserts and tension rods take up the line bolting forces. The integral flanges provide the sealing face for the bodyline. For Face-to-Face dimensions, (ref: 4.2.2) ASME/ISA ASME ISA 75.03 1979, 125# - 150#.

11. BAR STOCK GLOBE CONTROL VALVE BODY

The bar stock globe control valve body is only used and designed when none of the above mentioned standard body styles can provide a solution for a specific application. Reasons for this can be,

• High pressure ratings • Special body style • Special Face to Face • Quick delivery when castings are not available

The body size, style, rating, face-to-face and flange end type will differ from application to application and can therefore not be specified in this bulletin. Below are a few examples of bar stock valve bodies.

The Y – Pattern valve is used in slurry applications where a low pressure differential is needed and the application is used for modulating control. The Y-pattern valve is designed in such a manner that the Cv can be altered to suit almost any application. The direction of the valve can be either flow over or flow under depending on the application The body size, face to face and flange end type will differ for applications but standard face-to-face values can possibly be matched.
