Where did these two children come from ? In the 1910 census he has no wifein the home and these children weren't listed.So,going by her headstone in1906 she would have been age 14 when Grover was born & 20 when Ruby wasborn.So,it's unclear who their father actually was.I found Bertha living inHall county with her sister Mrs.Lillie Unknown ( last name unclear ) andnephew Nick.Listed with her was her two children Grover & Ruby listed asBarrett.Bertha was also listed as single.Anyone with answers or more gluesto this please e mail me at deborahgarrett966@msn.com

I was not told of Lilly by family members,i first found her in the 1900census with Steve and Mary.She was 15 years old and listed as adaughter.Lilly was in an insttution in the 1910 census,Ga. State Sanitariumin 321 district,Baldwin co.,Ga.Maybe that is why family didn't speak ofher,that was not something to be ashamed of but families back then justdidn't talk of such things.I will try to find out what became of my AuntLilly ... How long did she stay in the sanitarium,did she ever marry or didshe die in the sanitarium alone ?

Banks co.,Lunacy records indicates that Steve ( as petioner ) filed to sendLilly ( as defendant ) to the insane asylum on Feb. 10,1910.His charge waslunatic.I am not sure what the story here is.Living family members who hadheard the story growing up say that Steve would not let her come back homebut they didn't remember why.I wonder what happened for a father to say hisdaughter was a lunatic and have her sent away ? No one ever talked of herthat family members can recall so maybe Steve decided he no longer had adaughter named Lilly and that is why the younger generations were never toldof her.Maybe one day i will know .....

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Mt.CarmelBaptist Church, Lula, with the Rev.Elmer Butler officiating.Burial was inthe church cemetery.

The Maysville Fire Department answered a call to an early morning fireFriday at the home of Darrel Snipes near Maysville,but the home wasdestroyed before the fire department arrived.

Maysville fire cheif Sanford Brown said Tuesday the Snipes family wasnot at home at the time of the fire.The blaze was discovered by a passerbyafter the house had been burning for some time.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

A native of Banks county,Mr.Ray was the son of Jimmie PritchettRay,Homer, and the late Ottis Ray.

Mr.Ray was the Mayor of Homer and a member of Homer Baptist Church,wherehe served as deacon.He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a memberof the Georgia Mountain Development Committee and a member of the BanksCounty Cattleman's Association.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday,May 30, at HomerBaptist Church with Revs. Charles Crabbe and Jerry Stowe officiating.Burialwill be in Banks Memorial Gardens.

Mr.Ray is survived by his wife, Bonnie Whitlock, Homer ; son and

daughter in law, Mitch and Kristen Ray, Jacksonville ,Fla. ; daughter andson in law , Michelle and Timmy Duckett,Hollingsworth Community ; sisters ,Joyce Boswell and Jane Hardman, both of Homer ; and grandchildren , Ethanand Brittani Duckett,Hollingsworth Community.
