Romeo and Juliet Students will return to their study of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by William Shakespeare. They read the full text and explore the plot, characters and themes in detail. Students will develop skills to analyse how the language, form, structure and context of the play create meanings and effects as well as develop skills to maintain a critical style and informed personal response. The skills they practice in this unit are assessed at GCSE in the English Literature exam (Paper 1a).
Pre-exposure homework
1. Watch the Baz Lurhmann or Franco Zeffirelli version of ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
2. Gather your notes on ‘Romeo and Juliet’ from Y9 and Y10.
Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Biology Topic 4 Natural Selection and Genetic Modification
What is the evidence of human Evolution? How does Natural Selection occur? How are organisms classified? How is tissue culture carried out? What is genetics modification and how does it relate to agriculture?

Use their recording skills to produce a series of detailed observational self-portraits. Produce a thoughtful collage of personal memorabilia. (max size A2). The Students have all been given a summer research task. Part 1 Artist research Part 2 - photography Any visits to galleries would also enrich the wider understanding of art – take photos if possible or collect leaflets.
Complete Unit 4: Operations
Students will develop an understanding of production and the operational side of the business. The core topics covered in this unit include:
• Production processes • Quality of goods and services • The sales process and customer service • Consumer law. • Business location • Working with suppliers
Once this is complete students will begin Unit 5: Finance.

GCSE APPLIED BUSINESS STUDIES
R066 Market and Pitch a Business Proposal (Project worth 25% of overall GCSE)
Students will complete Task 1 of the second project. In task 1 students will develop a brand identity and promotional plan. They will use this to target their hat designs at their chosen customer group. Once this has been completed students will begin to develop their sales pitch for their product idea (Task 2).
Pre-exposure homework
Students should consider what the key aspects of their product are. Will these features appeal to their target audience? What differentiates their product from the competition? Why would a business want to stock these hats?

Students will gain an understanding of the different types of establishments and the types of foods that they produce for customers. A selection of outside establishments will visit to talk to the students of firsthand how the industry works.

Practical work
Students will continue to develop their practical skills to produce a wide range of dishes but will do so in small groups to plan, trial, cook and serve a three-course meal or range of dishes for a target group or target catering outlet. They will produce an individual portfolio to support the making and accompaniments of a range of food commodities.

Social issues
Students will learn key vocabulary to talk about social issues within society and lifestyles of young people. We will focus on developing reading and listening skills. We will also develop our knowledge of recognition of different tense in written texts.

Changing Cities - fieldwork
To experience the process of geographical enquiry and fieldwork using a number of geographical techniques. Students to follow the enquiry route considering data collection, data presentation and analysing and drawing conclusions and evaluation.

Travel and Tourism Free time activities
Students will know vocabulary and structures linked to the topics of holidays and hobbies including: Countries, weather, accommodation, places of interest, sports, hobbies, music, film, food and eating out. They will understand how to use the perfect and imperfect tenses to describe a past holiday, trip or weekend and they will also revise future and conditional tenses. They will continue to practise exam skills such as listening and reading comprehension, translation, photo cards and role-plays.

Conflict and Tension in Asia, 1950-75
Complete Conflict in Korea unit Students will then develop contextual knowledge and understanding in relation to:
• Escalation of conflict in Vietnam • The ending of conflict in Vietnam
Students will continue to develop their extended writing and communication skills through the completion of AQA examination questions. Through this process they will also develop the historical skills required to make progress and achieve in the subject

Component 3: Creating the Media On-Line Media
Students will continue with their coursework assignments started in the summer term – 30% of final GCSE Grade
Week Beginning 24/9 – submission of draft version of product(s) and Statement of Aims
Following on from work done in the summer term on Music Video students will analyse the style content and importance of online, social and participatory media for Taylor Swift or Pharrell Williams
Industry and audience issues within the contemporary music industry with comparative analysis with other products within the form of online, social participatory media

Video Games/Gaming Radio
Component One Section B: Video Games Introduction & overview of Set Product : Pokémon Go game and website Students will consider the set product as a contemporary augmented reality game in terms of the relevant video games industry and related audience issues. Component One Section B: Video Games Introduction & overview of Set Product : The Archers radio soap opera and website Consideration of the set product as an evolving media product in terms of related industry and audience issues. Consideration of the historical significance of this radio soap opera and how it has responded to the changing demands of both audiences and industry

ON-LINE MEDIA, VIDEO GAMES, RADIO: Look at as many examples as possible of the media forms we will be studying this half term (on-line music websites, video games and radio programmes). Think about your own use/interaction with these forms. Which are you familiar with? Which do you not have much interaction with and why? Do some research into 2 of our set products – Pokemon Go and ‘The Archers’ and come to the lessons already knowing something about them.
Preparation for CA. Performance and Exam practice
Students will have time to do the final preparation work to their free composition. They will choose the brief for composition 2. Students will learn the vital importance of having a clear brief which outlines the following: (i) what they are aiming to achieve (ii) the devices and techniques used to realise your aim Students will practice exam questions for set works and add complete their first performance recording.

Read the examiner’s reports (Edexcel GCSE Music Examiner’s report) and make notes on the essential components which should go into a composing brief.
Component 1: Devising (portfolios) 40% of qualification
Component 1- portfolio submission Students are to finalise their portfolios for submission. In year 10 students created a piece of devised theatre.
Component 3- Theatre makers in practice(written paper and text) 40% of the qualification
As part of this component they are expected to submit a written portfolio that is an analysis and evaluation of their process. Students have already submitted the first draft and will be given feedback to improve their work ready for final submission. Component 3- Set text Students will start to look at ‘The Crucible by Arthur Miller’, This is a set text from the exam board and will form part of the students written exam at the end of Year 11. Students will be required to answer six questions in their exam with short and extended responses. the focus of these responses is bringing the text to life. Bring the text to life requires a practical approach to the unit allowing students to visualise the script being performed therefore, there will be practical sessions combined with theory and writing structure lessons.

Component 3 - Students have been set a summer research task linking to the Play the crucible. They are to explore the social and historical context of the play in relation to the plot. They will be required to present their findings in September.
Choosing pathways for learning Boys follow a games based programme.
Making informed decisions about a fit and healthy lifestyle. Students will experience a mix of core activities and pathways. The pathways allow the students to make choices about the nature of the activity they enjoy which will sustain them into adult life and which will motivate their learning. Pathways run across the first term. Boys focus on decision making, working in teams, and making informed healthy choices.
Theme B - Religion and Life
Looking at ethical arguments: Scientific truths versus religious truths How did the world begin? How did life begin? Stewardship and dominion over the natural world – environmental issues Animals used for food and experimentation Applying religious teachings from both Christianity and Buddhism to the above ethical issues.

Look out for and collect news articles linked to any of these topics – what do key religious leaders believe about any of the above topics?
Holidays Students will develop their use of tenses, in particular the imperfect and preterite tenses by describing a previous holiday they have experienced. They will know vocabulary and verbs for accommodation, activities, weather,

food and they will use the conditional tense to talk about their ideal holidays. Students will also develop their reading skills by looking out for synonyms in texts.

1. Go onto www.language-gym.com . Go to verb trainer and Spanish. Practise common verbs in the preterite and imperfect tenses
2. Think of as many verbs as you can that you could use for holidays and conjugate them into past/present/future
Theory Practical
Socio-cultural influences on sport: this section deals with all aspects of sport in society and the effects on participation. We explore the commercialisation of sport, the increase in technology and ethical conduct of sports men and women. We will continue to assess practical areas and offer opportunity to be assessed in football/rugby/netball
