Students will: Select a natural object and using their recording skills produce a series of detailed observational resources. Record using a wide range of different techniques looking at line, form, tone and texture. Research and respond to a range of artists who explore natural forms in their work. Develop their research and observational studies into a creative composition.

Pre-exposure homework

Students can also select from the following activities to support the Natural forms unit of work: 1) Select an inspiring natural object, for example a Shell, Flower, Fruit etc if possible take some close-up photos of this object. 2) Use the internet to research the work of O’Keefe and use You tube to watch Sam Taylor Wood’s ‘Still life 2001’ – How are these artists Similar/different? Any visits to galleries would also enrich the wider understanding of art – take photos if possible or collect leaflets.

CAMBRIDGE NATIONAL BUSINESS STUDIES

R065 Design a Business Proposal (Project worth 25% of overall GCSE)

Students will complete Task 5: Review whether a business proposal is viable. Once this is complete students will have one opportunity to make improvements to their overall project work before submitting their final work for assessment.

Pre-exposure homework

Students should research break-even analysis. As part of this they should be able to explain the following terms:

1. Selling price

2. Fixed costs 3. Variable costs

Students should also understand how to read a break-even graph and be able to calculate the break even point using a table and a formula. A good website to help with this task is GCSE Bitesize. Choose GCSE Business then select Breaking even from the finance section.

Complete Unit 3: People

Students will increasingly have a secure knowledge of why businesses need people and how businesses develop their workforce. The core topics they will complete this half term are as follows:

The role of human resources

Organisational structures and different ways of working

Communication in business

Recruitment and selection

Motivation and retention

Training and development

Employment law

Pre-exposure homework

Students should carry out a second interview with a member of their family or someone who has a job. They should ask about the different ways that training happens in the workplace and then question how the business tries to motivate its employees using financial and non-financial methods.
