Pre-exposure homework

1) Search you tube for ‘Mr Ward EC video’ and watch the clip. Remind yourself of some of the material you have already covered such as asexual reproduction. Be prepared to use this information to answer questions about cell division during the topic.

2) Search on Google for the ‘Secret life of the brain’ go to the PBS

website and look through the sections on the life of the brain. Focus on the ‘teenage brain’ and look at why sleep is important. Be prepared to discuss this in a lesson. Search on Google for the ‘eye’. Go to the webpage web md webpage and read up about the eye. Take a look through the different conditions which can affect the eyes, choose three and make notes about each one.

Unit 1 (D) Black and white illustration

Students will: Develop observational recording skills using a wide variety of techniques and materials. Produce a sketchbook which includes; exploring mono tone mark making, researching and responding to artists who work in black & white techniques and trialling experimental development. Design and create an abstract composition based on their sketchbook work.

CAMBRIDGE NATIONAL BUSINESS

R065 Design a Business Proposal (Project worth 25% of overall GCSE)

Students will complete the final part of the project: Task 5: Be able to review whether a business proposal is viable (18 marks). This task involves students completing a break even analysis and risk analysis on their product proposal before making a final evaluation of their products viability. Once this is complete we use the remainder of the half term to complete any support and intervention work as appropriate.

Pre-exposure homework

Students should research break even analysis. A good place to start is GCSE Bitesize Business. Go to the Finance unit and you will see Break even readers and activities which students should attempt.

Complete the first unit then move onto the second. Unit 3: People

Customs and Festivals

Students will be learning to understand, discuss and write about customs and festivals which are important to France and other French speaking countries. They will also discuss some current affairs in French to help them become more aware of the world around them, and to spontaneously express their views in the target language. By now students should be using at least 4 tenses in spoken and written French with varying degrees of competency.

Use the internet to search for customs and festivals in France. Write 10 sentences about them in French. Use 4 tenses.

Students will give opinions on school subjects, look at school timetables and revise telling the time. They will be able to describe their school, uniform and teachers and use reflexive verbs to discuss their school day. They will study compartatives and superlatives, modal verbs complex structures.

Chocolate Project Vacuum forming The wooden mould.

Students will design, using isometric and manufacture a wooden chocolate mould for their new product. This will then be vacuum formed ready to simulate mass produced chocolate manufacture.

Componant 1: Devising coursework 40% of qualification

Pupils to continue to develop their devised piece of theatre including practitioner techniques. Whilst creating a portfolio of the creative process. Pupils will take part in workshops based around several practitioners:

They will then apply these techniques and skills to allow them to develop their piece further. Allowing them to finalise the piece through rehearsal. Pupils will then be formally assessed towards the end of spring term or beginning of the summer term.

Students will learn the key concepts within the topic and then discuss whether it is ever necessary to go to war. They will then apply Christian and Buddhist teachings to the concept of war, focusing on nuclear weapons and the Just War theory.

Customs and Festivals

Students will learn the formation of the preterite and imperfect tenses and develop their skills for the photo card element of the speaking exam.

To gain an understanding of the characteristics, processes, application and advantages/ disadvantages of ICT in the design, development, marketing and sales of textiles products. Students will apply this knowledge and understanding to design and make task. To gain an understanding of environmental issues and the impact it has on the fashion industry. Students will research, design and manufacture a decorative textile accessory using recycled materials.
