My family is orthodox Jew, as well as vegan.... Having kosher foods as well as vegetarian would be helpful. When we asked our Trailblazers, they had no idea. The tour actually made my decision on whether or not I was going to attend UAB this fall or not... I am! :) Yes

Probably to dorms and how you are going to live as a college student. That was really important to me considering I would be an out of state student with no family in Alabama.

I didn't feel like there was an information that wasn't valuable on my tour. Maybe the information on how to get involved in the sports because I can't play sports anymore but that information is valuable to the students who do plan on playing sports.

The only thing that I was confused on was on what to do next. I have been accepted into the school but how do I say, "Yes, I do want to go to UAB next year"? 2012

I wasn't sure about UAB in the begining. My mother is from Birmingham, and I visit often. I just never looked at UAB as an option...until the tour. It was GREAT!! Yes

The entire tour was informative and I left there with a true sense of the campus and school. The counselor, Ms. Blackmon was awesome and very helpful.

No comment here. It was all good and valuable.

As a senior, I have really looked hard at my college choices. I am happy to say UAB has really risen to the top for me. I plan to attend medical school after my undergraduate course work and can really see UAB being my home away from home. My only concern is cost. With it being out of state for me, I want to be sure I am not a burden on my parents. I still plan to apply and hope I qualify for your scholarships. 2012

The most valuable part of the tour was having all of my questions answered by real students who understood exactly what I meant because they had thought about the same things.

Just becoming more familiar with the campus, and the reassurance to both my parents and me that I will be safe while there.

I am a transfer student, and I would have found it more valuable to visit the dorms I would be living in instead of spending that time looking at dorms I won't even consider. I know there were freshman too, but maybe have a tour just for transfer students and take them to those dorms.

1/8/2012 23:59 Yes Yes Viet, our Trailblazer.

I really wanted to see Blazer Hall. It was disappointing to not be able to see all of the possible freshman housing before having to make my choice.

Viet was an exceptional Trailblazer. He sought to relate to all of the students and make it a personal tour for each one. He spoke to each student about their particular area of interest and how UAB related to them. 2012

The most valuable part was seeing the exact buildings I would live and study. It amazed me how relatively close it all was.

I was a little disappointed that I wasn't able to actually walk inside a lot of the buildings, but since finals were going on I can understand why.

The tour guides I had, Roshni and Rylee, were fabulous! I went with so many questions running through my head, but they covered every single one of them without me having to even ask. Their explanations were so understandable and I enjoyed their friendliness and added details they provided on the tour. 2012

I loved the campus and the people. I felt as if I was apart of UAB already. I definitely will be attending UAB in the fall and I have no doubt that I made the right choice. Yes

Being allowed to see the students during class and how enthusiastic very one was. I'm by far a visual learner and with the techniology and advancement that the school obtains I feel I will get the best oppurtunities and success from your college.

The Construction work was some what of a distraction while I was on the tour but in a way it was good to see that the school was still improving and expanding. 2012

1/14/2012 19:57 YesI am really excited to attend UAB in fall 2012 Yes Visiting the dorms

It was drizzling that day, but I do not find anything "least valuable" about my campus tour.

I loved the campus and also the dorms. I mainly came to visit so I could see the dorms, and also see around the campus. I LOVED the rec center as well; I will be spending A LOT of time in there when I attend. The trailblazer was very friendly and whatever questions I had, she answered them the best way she could. I will definitely be signing up for Camp Hall in about two weeks. Thank you for y'alls time as well. 2012

I basically just want to go to school. But it was good to hear information about all the extra "perks" of going to UAB like the student discounts to events and themeparks. Yes

Getting a feel for where all the different buildings are located, and how UAB will help me while at school, but also when I'm away from school.

It was supposed to be a tour geared towards transfer students, and I have no other tours to compare it to, but it didn't seem like a regular tour would be any different.

I was asked probably 50 times if I had any more questions in a period of 45 minutes. I didn't. It made me feel as if I should be asking more questions and that I was missing something. After asking if there are any questions, if there are none, maybe have an example question that people normally ask. It was only me and one guest on the tour, so I'm sure if there were more people, more questions would be asked.

2/8/2012 21:52 Yes

The weather and not getting to observe in every building.

There was a UAB student that rudely came and interrupted our campus tour. 3/10/2012 20:31 Yes

I appreciated the new grassy area! It made UAB feel more like a college campus, instead of just a bunch of separate buildings with classes in them. No

The financial adviser did not seem very well informed, but to his defense, he did give us the information we needed to contact someone else.

I really enjoyed the tour guides (Deepa Etikala and Dahra Shah). Deepa is very similar to me (in personality and career path). She had good advice and was encouraging.

The admissions counselor seemed rather rushed. She was friendly, but her presentation was pretty much just showing us the website and giving us a vague overview of some of the scholarship opportunities. The main thing I learned from that was, "Go to the website if you want to know."

Back to the admissions counselor. I can go to the website at home. It would have been nice if we had gone to the specific parts of the website that pertained to me (there were only two students touring) so that I could read them and ask her my questions there. 2013

Ive been to quite a few schools touring around and one like I like was how it was a one on one experience with the admissions counselor. I felt as if I could explain my situation betterhen it was just her and I. I felt like I had a lot more questions I didnt ask because I didnt want to waste other peoples times. Causing me to still have many questions needing answers. But other than that the actual tour was 2012

She pushed very hard to go up and down steps and to walk as fast as the tour guides has us walking. This should be addressed. 2013

I really liked how UAB is a very research and industry (real world) minded school. I also loved to hear how they encouraged undergraduate level students such as myself to participate in research projects.

We were lucky to be the only family on tour and were pleased that we could freely ask as many questions as we wanted. I know the two tour ladies and one young man trainee would probably have liked a larger group, but we were happy it was a small group. They did a great job!!! My son loved UAB!

The glasses were not really needed and though a nice gesture, could be one less expense for you. The water bottles were nice to have and provided relief along the tour! Thx!

Some of the info talked about after your, during financial time, would be nice to have on a sheet of paper. I believe it may be on website, but you have to go home and find all that. A paper would be nice to add to your file with the UAB handout given at the start of the tour. Currently, I am being drawn to a career in an allied health profession. UAB has so many options. Yes

To realize UAB had a campus in which classrooms, housing, and dining were so convenient. There was an emphasis on safety and security. Also, all the info about group outdoor trips off campus was something we didn't hear at other campuses. Really impressed with the Student Rec Center.

I know all the franchise foods are convenient, but maybe there could be more emphasis on a healthier diet.

g great to move among the tour group and talk with each of us individually. My family was not impressed with the UAB WEBsite, especially the "pig suturing" class. The instructor and the students were chewing gum. Didn't think that was too impressive. for a college class. They thought the text was too "laid back". 2013

The walking tour. Getting to see the campus was a big help.

Meeting with the admissions counselor. I was looking forward to this very much. The counselor talked very fast and made references to things he thought we would already know but we didn't. The important dates he gave, the website's he referenced all should have been on a sheet to hand out.

, p rates should have been on a sheet to give each family. I am wondering why the tour did not show any classrooms or show the cafeteria. Over all it was a good tour. It seems like a very family oriented and friendly place to help further my education. Yes

My Trailblazer answered all my questions, and he gave me even more information to further my education.

I didn't get to meet with my actual counselor because he was in a meeting so I had to meet with an admissions counselor.

The Trailblazer Harsh was very helpful, and he is doing a great job! 2013

Downtown campus/traffic atmosphere. Sometimes it was hard to hear the guide due to loud trucks. On Honors "tour" we would've expected to see area in where honors students reside. Yes

y to come when school is in and not during the summer when school is out so you can see everything in action. We were not able to see inside any of the dorm halls at all. Very disappointing. Buildings seem old, but not in the traditional old manner. Just out of date and ugly , old contemporary. 2013

8/17/2012 0:29 Yes Yes

I got to see the college that my best friend wants to go to, and I got to hear the drum line practicing while walking.

I had to rush around, and we did not get to stop a look at a lot of things.

They should really slow down the walking pace so that people have more time to look around. 2013
