The parade started at Van Ness and Marine avenues, traveled north along Van Ness and disbanded at Rowley Park. BYFRANKONDERKA SPECIALTOTHEGVN Gardena activist Charlotte Lynch will receive the Gardena Valley Lions Community Rec- ognition Award Feb. 17 during the club’s 92nd Anniversary at the El Pollo Inka Restaurant in Gardena. This year marks the club’s 34th community recognition ban- quet and will begin with a no- host bar at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. Cost per person to attend the celebration is $30 on or before Feb. 15. Guests will have their choice of chicken, beef or fish. Contact GV Lion Frank Onderka to RSVP at 310-768-1836. Gardena resident Lynch was born and raised in southern Minnesota. Her young life was always very busy and she en- gaged in numerous activities and volunteering. After earning a BS in Nursing at Winona State Uni- versity, she worked for one year in Rochester, MN as a Public Health Nurse. An adventurous type, she re- located to southern California where she gained employment as a public health nurse with the Los Angeles County Depart- ment of Health Services. Along the way she married and helped raise two sons and became very involved with volunteer work. Retiring from Los Angeles County after 27 years of service, Lynch continued to volunteer her time and continues to do so to this day. Gardena activist Charlotte Lynch will receive the Gardena Valley Lions Community Rec-ognition Award Feb. 17 during the club’s 92nd Anniversary at the El Pollo Inka Restaurant in Gardena.

The changes relate tothe following subject matters:• Definitions – minor amendments, deletions, ad-ditions.• Clean up of wording in density provisions for theR-1, R-2, and R-3 zones, but no change in al-lowed density.• Open Space Provisions – creation of definitionand addition of section to make requirements uni-form among all sections. Change in dimensionsof minimum open space area – must still be 150square feet, but minimum dimension reducedfrom 10 to 8 feet. Clarification that patio, balcony,and deck space may be divided among morethan one such area provided that no such area isless than 40 square feet. Clarification that privateopen space only needs to be accessible from theunit, but not from a specific area of any unit. Indi-vidual zones still specify the amount of openspace.• Clarification that for cluster type developmentsin the R-3, R-4, and MUO zone, setbacks are cal-culated from the project boundaries and not fromthe individual units or buildings within the devel-opment.R-4 Zone• Increase in building height in the R-4 zone from35 to 40 feet for architectural projections whichare building elements or pitched roof.MUO Zone• Reduction to side and rear yard setbacks inMUO zone; clarification that distances betweenbuildings do not have to be increased whenabove two stories.• Change in distribution of open space require-ments so developer may choose whether tomake it all private; no reduction in total amount ofopen space required.• Allow tandem parking for residential units andlive/work units for up to 50% of residential park-ing requirement.
