As the acknowledged master of sound reinforcement
in venues of all sizes, JBL has the necessary skills to cre
ate optimized dedicated bass loudspeakers for music
and movies in the home. The introduction of discrete
digital surround formats (Dolby Digital ' and DTS j
w i th separate Low Frequency Effects channels and
the widespread use of digital music media (CD, Mini-
disc, etc.) place greater demands than ever before on
the l ow frequency performance of home entertain
ment systems. JBL powered subwoofers are designed
for natural, extended deep bass w i th authority and
control.
Integral Deep Bass Systems Because JBL powered subwoofers incorporate cross
over networks, drivers, power amplifiers and cabinets
engineered w i th one single purpose in mind, optimal
reproduction of the lowest audible octaves, JBL sub
woofers create a solid deep bass foundation that con
tributes to the realism of your listening experience. In
addit ion, because your main loudspeakers and main
amplifier no longer have to cope w i th the prodigious
demands of the lowest frequencies, midrange clarity
Flexibility of Placement Another major advantage of separate, dedicated bass
loudspeakers is that they allow you to optimize the
placement of your main loudspeakers for the best pos
sible focus and soundstage recteation, while posi
tioning the subwoofer in the ideal location for clean,
extended bass response. JBL powered subwoofers
include all the controls and adjustment options you
need in order to integrate seamlessly w i th your main
loudspeakers and your listening room.

A new dimension in low frequency effects The new PowerBass Series digitally powered subwoofers are two high-performance subwoofers designed to deliver unmatched low-frequency impact and sonic realism in home-theater and music systems. The series is comprised of the PBI2 112-inch driver 250 warts) and the PBIO 110-inch driver 150 watts), and incorporates a host of advanced technologies to bring true theater-quality bass performance right into the home. The new PowerBass subwoofers deliver truly incredible low-frequency performance and are ideally suited for reproducing the LFE channel of Dolby* Digital and DTS soundtracks.
The PB 12 and PB 10 both utilize JBL's exclusive Class-D digital-amplifier technology, which operates in Class-D mode and uses digital-switching amplifier technology for exceptionally high power output wi th high efficiency and dramatically reduced distortion, even when reproducing no-holds-barred action-movie soundtracks at high-volume listening levels. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
State of the art drivers JBL PowerBass Series subwoofers employ the highest quality drivers for clean, articulate, musically accurate bass response. The woofer cones are composed of a pure-cellulose-fiber material, a lightweight, stiff material w i th extremely fast response for a more realistic and detailed rendering of ultralow frequencies. The voice-coil magnets are vented for efficient heat dissipation, increased power handling and accurate response even
during extended periods of high-volume operation. The heavy-duty driver frames are constructed for high stability under the most demanding conditions, and the drivers are mounted in a down-firing, ported, rigid, non-resonant enclosure that delivers maximum sound-pressure level in a compact configuration.
Flexibility for Today's Home-Theater Installations Along w i th phenomenal bass performance, the JBL PowerBass Series is designed for ease of installation in any home-theatet or music system and their small footprints make them easily adaptable to any living environment. The PBI2 and PBIO both offer a full range of setup and adjustment controls w h i c h enables them to achieve a seamless sonic blend w i th any type and configurat ion of loudspeaker system, including a volume control, phase switch, adjustable low-pass crossover, plus speaker- and line-level inputs and speaker-level high-pass outputs. Heavy-duty, five-w a y gold-plated binding posts al low easy connect ion using any type of speaker cable. Both models also feature a direct subwoofer input, making them ideal for use w i t h Do lby** Digital® and DTS* receivers and processors w h e n reproducing the " . ] " low-frequency effects channel.
JBL's PowerBass Series subwoofers are the perfect "finishing touch" to a high-performance home entertainment system, adding the low-frequency extension and impact that take movie soundtrack and music reproduction to new levels of sonic realism.
