From Mrs Melinda Partridge (Principal’s) Desk...

Whilst Mrs Murphy is on leave I will be relieving in the Principal’s position for the next 3 weeks. I look forward to getting to know the students and working as part of the Warialda Public School community during this time. If there are any concerns or question please feel free to contact me. Years K, 1, 2 & 3 Sleepover: Years K, 1, 2 & 3 Sleepover Night was held last Thursday. The 51 students who attended had a wonderful time and were extremely well behaved. They all certainly enjoyed the “Fun Friday” activities to end the week and I am sure they all had a good night sleep on Friday night. Lake Ainsworth Excursion: 50 students from Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 attended the Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation excursion last week. Students had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that included; sailing, kayaking, bike riding, snorkeling, marine studies including snorkeling, rock climbing, archery and beach initiatives. This was a great week for all those who attended. Warialda Honey Festival: The Warialda Honey Festival parade was held on Saturday. Thank you to Annabel Bundock, Byron La Fontaine, Wes La Fontaine, Luke Hall, Sam Hall, Emma Hall, Rachel Coulton, Sophie Hall and Louisa Gilmore who braved the hot conditions to represent the school proudly in the parade. Early Birds — Kindergarten (2015) Transition Program: The next Early Birds transition day is this Friday 21st November in Mrs Waller 1/2W classroom. This will be a full day of transition commencing at 9.00am. Sport- Swimming: All students Years 3- 6 will be participating in swimming for sport on Friday. Please ensure your child has returned their permission note and is prepared for swimming on Friday (e.g. swimmers, towel, goggles, and money). Intensive Swimming: Intensive swimming for Year 2 and selected students in Years 3-6 will commence next week for two weeks. Permission notes need to be returned by this Wednesday. League Tag: On Thursday afternoon students in Years 2-5 will participate in a League Tag afternoon with Peter Stevens the NRL Development Officer. Hot Dog Day: 3/4B will be hosting a hot dog day tomorrow, Wednesday. The money raised will be used to purchase resources for the school. Sports Council Awards: The Sports Council Awards were held on Friday night. Well done to the Senior Girls Touch Football Team, Senior Girls Swimming Relay Team and Senior Girls League Tag Team for being nominated in the teams divisions. Courtney Barwick, Isabella Reardon, Sophie Hall, Rachel Coulton, Hannah Tooley, Rosie Mayne, Will Mayne, Hunter Rose, Bailey Curtis and Andrew Marle were nominated for individual awards. During week 6 Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 went to Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre near Lennox Head.

Students arrived at the school at a quarter past 6 to pack the bus. The drive to camp was around 6-8

hours on the bus, but to us it hardly seemed that long. We saw many beautiful sights along the way, such

as Lennox Head, the beach and Ballina to just name a few.

When we arrived everyone took their bags off the bus and put them at Spot X. Spot X is where we meet

to go to our groups. After that was done there was a short second lunch in the dining hall. At lunch we sat

in our cabin groups. This made it easier to remember our cabins groups and the people we were with.

Shortly after lunch everybody was sent out to find cabins and put our belongings in them.

Then we had a quick rotation. All together both groups had 9 rotations. Both groups did those rotations

on different days. Warialda had 2 mixed groups of boys and girls. They were called the Dolphins and the

Whales. The activities included sailing, beach games, snorkelling, bike riding, surf skis, water safety, rock

climbing, archery, kayaking and canoeing.

When we arrived Kelly’s Plains and Mullaway had already finished their first activities.

When the activities during the day were over the groups would have their showers and have free time on

the tennis and basketball courts.

After dinner all the schools went into the stadium where the instructors held fun activities. The activities

included small games of tip, lines and dead ants, a mini Olympics, Lake Ainsworth’s County Fair and a

disco.

When all the activities were finished we went into the dining hall for supper and then to bed.

On the last night after supper the 3-4 boys headed back to the cabin and found a python trying to slither

up the wall. The Snake Catcher finally caught the snake and everything was fine.

On Friday morning we woke up and packed our bags ready for the bus. After breakfast we jumped on the

bus exhausted from having an amazing week at camp.

All the students that went on this trip would like to thank all the staff and parents who made this

excursion possible for us, in particular Mrs Mead, Ms Taber, Mrs Dawson and Mr Murphy. It was a trip

that will never be forgotten.

Hall.
