Country summary
Results
In 2013, a Diagnostic Trade Integration Study Update (DTISU)
project was approved by the EIF Board with
the Wold Bank as the Main implementing Entity (MIE). The study
is expected to be finalized in the first half
of 2014.
Sudan has also requested support from the Executive Secretariat
for the EIF (ES) for the development of aTier 1 project proposal by
hiring a consultant to help develop the proposal, but the security
situation during
the second half of 2013 prevented the ES from sending a support
mission.
In 2014, if the security situation permits, a consultant will be
selected to undertake the mission to support
the EIF National Implementation Unit (NIU) develop a Tier 1
project proposal in Khartoum.
Outreach activities
Sudan participated in the EIF LDCs Photo Competition as part of
the Fourth Global Review of Aid for Trade .
To build up capacity on communications and results reporting,
Sudan participated in the first EIF Regional
Workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation and Communications
Capacity Development for AfricanAnglophone countries held in
Zambia.
Sudan’s Minister for Trade H.E. Mr Osman Elsharif in his
statement at the EIF Ministerial Breakfast under
the theme, "EIF Post-2015: A partnership roadmap for concrete
results delivery", noted the useful tools of
the EIF and called up means to address delays in the DTIS
process. The Meeting held on 4 December 2013
was organized along the margins of the Ninth WTO Ministerial
Conference in Bali.
