DESCRIPTION
One chorus of an alto saxophone solo written out for the students of Ross Sterling High School to use as a beginning to form their own improvisational ideas over the Hank Crawford song SUGAR FREE. Again, note the patterns stem around the Dorian mode as the the main chords are basically minor 7th chords [G-7 on the A sections with C-7 on the bridge...for alto players that equates to E-7 and A-7 respectively]. The same principle discussed here in using this particular template, if you will, is the same idea behind solo transcriptions: learn them, practice them, learn them in all twelve keys, then BUILD from them as opposed to playing those solos VERBATIM.
