SUGGESTED ITEMS FOR BOARDERS TO PACK Page 1 of 1 (August2020) The following is adapted from the College Board’s “Off to College Checklist” and is intended as a framework only. Students should bring to campus items that are necessary for their success in the classroom and in boarding life at George School. Given the unpredictability of COVID-19 and the need to social distance, students will need to minimize what they bring to school this fall. Students will be limited to bringing only the necessary items to school: bedding, toiletries, academic belongings, and seasonal attire. Belongings cannot exceed four large boxes/suitcases/storage totes. CLEANING SUPPLIES Clorox or Lysol Wipes (or equivalent) Anti-bacterial hand sanitizer Electronic wipes (for your personal devices) DRESS Dress is casual at George School. Be modest, neat, and clean and you will be fine. Please refer to the expectations for dress outlined in the Community Handbook. Bring the seasonal attire that is necessary. 7 reusable face coverings 14 sets of underwear 14 pairs of socks 3-4 pairs of pants 3-4 pairs of jeans 14 shirts/blouses 2 sets of sweats 2-3 light/heavy jackets 1 outfit to be worn for special occasions 1 pair of gloves 1 scarf 1 hat 1 pair of sneakers of comfortable walking shoes 1 pair of dress shoes 1 pair of flip flops/shower shoes 1 swimsuit Pajamas LINENS AND LAUNDRY Blanket(s) Clothes hangers Comforter/bedspread Laundry bag/basket Laundry detergent and dryer sheets Mattress Cover Pillows and pillowcases 1 Set of sheets (standard twin- size) Towels (3 each of bath, hand and face) ROOM ITEMS Alarm clock Desk Lamp Power strip with built-in circuit breaker Refrigerator, small Snacks in a well-sealed container Trash can Umbrella SCHOOL SUPPLIES Students should speak with their teachers during the first week meetings to see what additional supplies may be required for each class. Backpack Binder Calculator Headphones compatible with your computer (preferably noise canceling) Folder with pockets Highlighter pen (multiple colors) Index cards (3x5) Laptop and charger Notebooks Pens and pencils Pencil holder and sharpener Ruler Stapler and staples Sticky notes TOILETRIES No toiletries may be stored in the bathrooms, please bring a shower caddy to campus for storage of your toiletries in your room. Bath and face soap Comb/Brush Dental floss Hairstyling products Medication that your doctor has prescribed to you (to be kept at the Student Health and Wellness Center) Shampoo and conditioner Shower caddy Tissues Thermometer Toothpaste and toothbrush Please do not bring: Cars, halogen lamps, microwaves, motorcycles, pets, or two-pronged extension cords. Don’t even think about bringing: Alcohol containers (full or empty), beer bottles or cans, candles, drugs or drug paraphernalia, hoverboards, incense, lighters, matches, tobacco products, or weapons of any sort (including pocketknives). It is forbidden for you to have these items in your possession.
