DESCRIPTION Sulfatropin® Oral is a formulation of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim which has a synergistic effect with clear bactericidal effect due to a sequential blockade of bacterial enzymes involved in the synthesis of folic acid, which causes the death of the bacterial cell. INDICATIONS Broad spectrum antimicrobial indicated in the treatment of infections caused by Gram (-) and Gram (+) germs susceptible to the combination of the product. Acts against infections of the respiratory tract, digestive and urinary tract. It is indicated in canines and felines, in cases where a powerful systemic antibacterial action is required: infections of the respiratory, digestive, genitourinary and septicemia systems. The combination is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as susceptible species of the genera Actinomyces, Actinobacillus (Haemophillus), Bordetella, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, Fusobacterium, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Proteus, Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, as well as Escherichia coli, and susceptible species of Streptococcus and Staphylococcus. Most species of the genera Brucella, Erysipelothrix, Nocardía, Moraxella and some of the genus Streptococcus are moderately sensitive. The genera Pseudomona and Mycobacterium are resistant. USE Canines and Felines. DOSAGE, MODE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION 15 mg per kg of live weight every 12 hours. Canines: 5 mL per 16 kg of live weight every 12 hours for 5 days. Felines: 1.5 mL per 5 kg of live weight every 12 hours for 5 days. Administer orally WARNINGS Shake before use. Store in a cool place and not exposed to sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use in pregnant or breastfeeding females.
