COST

Competitor’s registration fees have been reduced thanks to the proceeds VTAM. All amounts have been deducted from each competitor’s total travel fees. COMPETITORS The cost of team travel (for competitors) to the Canadian National Skills Competition being held in Toronto, ON June 3-7, 2014 is $1325.00. All competitors will be double/triple occupancy. Note: Skills Manitoba will be subsidizing the cost of taking the competitors to Canada’s Wonderland on Friday evening from 5:30-10:00 pm(meal included) ADVISORS/DELEGATES The cost of team travel (for advisors/delegates) to the Canadian National Skills Competition being held in Toronto, ON, June 3-7, 2014 is:

• $1715.00 for single occupancy or • $1410.00 for double occupancy

NOTE: If double occupancy, please advise as to who you will be sharing with. Note: The cost of participating in the Canada’s Wonderland event on Friday evening is included in the Advisor/delegate fee. Please confirm your attendance by Friday, April 18, 2014. Once confirmed, a cheque or purchase order is required by Friday, April 25, 2014.

Please note that all costs include airfare, bus transfers, hotel, registration fees, team building events and some meals. (Cost to transport Luggage, Tool kits and Meals are not included)

ELIGIBILITY – PROOF

It is important for you to travel with proof of age and proof of contest eligibility. Eligibility of age would include a birth certificate and student card or a driver’s license. Contest eligibility for apprentices may include a letter from your Apprenticeship Counsellor determining that you are not a journeyperson and your level of apprenticeship. Please check the National Competition Rules for further details www.skillscanada.com

FLIGHTS

Tuesday, June 3, 2014 Departs Winnipeg 9:00 a.m. WestJet 0534 (arrives in Toronto at 12:20 p.m.) Saturday, June 7, 2014 Departs Toronto 9:45 p.m. WestJet 0535 (arrives in Winnipeg at 11:19 p.m.) All passengers are required to be at the airport 1.5-2 hours prior to departure. You must travel with picture identification. Westjet Airline tickets will remain in the possession of Skills Manitoba. Boarding passes will be issued to each passenger at time of check-in.

LUGGAGE Ensure that your checked luggage meets WestJet’s standards. Students and Advisors are responsible for additional pieces and luggage/toolkits costs. Westjet’s free luggage allowance permits one (1) checked pieces of luggage:

• Maximum size is 157 cm (62”) (length+width+height=62” or less); and • Weight not to exceed 23 kg per item (50 lbs)

In addition, Westjet allows one (1) carry-on pieces of luggage. Maximum size is:

• One (1) item at 53 cm (21”) X 23 cm (9”) X 38 cm (15”) not to exceed 10 kg (22 lbs)

Plus one (1) personal item. Maximum size is: • One (1) item at 41 cm (16”) X 15 cm (6”) X 33 cm (13”)

To assist Westjet and help prepare for our flight.... If you have additional luggage or oversize luggage over and above the allowance, please fill out the attached Group Equipment and Baggage Form and send back to the Skills Manitoba office by May 19. Each piece of checked and carry-on luggage must have an identification tag with your name and address.

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION (Airport Transportation is organized by Skills Manitoba)

Arrival – Tuesday, June 3, 2014 Participants and delegates will register for the 20th Canadian National Skills Competition at the International Centre. Coach Canada will meet Team Manitoba at the airport and transfer all passengers to International Centre to register and drop off toolboxes and then transport the team to the International Plaza Hotel. Departure – Saturday, June 7, 2014 Coach Canada will pick up Team Manitoba (and their luggage and toolboxes) at the International Plaza Hotel at approximately 5:00p.m. and transport the team to Toronto International Airport.

REGISTRATION – TOOL BOXES

Participants and Delegates will register for the 20th Canadian Skills Competition at the International Centre immediately upon arrival in Toronto. Toolboxes will also be dropped off when registering. Labels identifying competitor name, contest name, contest number and province must be on all toolboxes, please see attached sample. Labels will be provided in electronic format and must be printed on letter size paper. At the end of the competition, all toolboxes must be taken off the floor and brought back to the hotel. Competitors are responsible for transporting their own toolboxes back to the hotel. There will be limited shuttle services available and you may have to use a taxi service. Please find attached schedule of shuttle services

HOTEL – International Plaza Hotel by Toronto Airport

Team Manitoba will be staying at the International Plaza Hotel by Toronto Airport. A rooming list will be provided prior to May 30, 2014. Photo ID is required to check-in. To the best of our ability we have accommodated all special requests. It is suggested that all advisors bring a copy of the rooming list so that they will know where their participants are staying. Please note: You must settle all personal room charges by Friday, June 7, 2013

TEAM MEETING AND LUNCH – MANDATORY

Team Manitoba will hold a mandatory meeting and lunch on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the hotel in the Mississauga ballroom. Secondary and Post-Secondary competitors and their advisors/chaperones are to report to the room by 2:00 p.m. for approx. 1-1.5 hours At the meeting, team shirts will be distributed to all members. Team shirts must be worn at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Please note that access to Opening and Closing Ceremony will only be permitted to competitors and advisors only. Tickets will be available for purchase through www.skillscanada.com for $40.00 per event. The tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis and will be general seating. The Opening Ceremony ticket does not include access to the Welcome Reception.

EVENT TRANSPORTATION Please note that event transportation is organized by host province and not Skills Manitoba.

Competition Transportation-There is limited shuttle service available during the competitions. Please find attached schedule of shuttle services.

June 4, 2014 – Transportation will be arranged from International Centre to the hotels after the opening ceremony. June 7, 2014 – Transportation will be arranged to and from hotel and International Centre for the closing ceremony.

DRESS CODE

Unless informed otherwise for a specific trade, candidates may wear provincial Skills Manitoba T-shirts (issued at the Skills Manitoba Provincial Competition) during the competitions. However, no clothing with commercial logos that are incompatible with sponsors who have negotiated agreements with Skills Canada or the host province may be worn. It is not acceptable to wear hats/caps at Skills events. Team Manitoba team shirts are black with white accents and must be worn at Opening and Closing Ceremonies only. We suggest dark pants or skirts be worn with your team shirts.

Code of Conduct Skills/Compétences Canada and all of its provincial/territorial Member Organization’s are dedicated to ensuring that everyone who attends SCC activities has an enjoyable experience with maximum attention paid to safety and comfort. I/We hereby acknowledge that I/we accept the risk that I/we may sustain injury, death or dismemberment as a result of participating in SCC activities. • maximum dimension (length + width + height) 157cm (62 in)

Oversize / Overweight Baggage Fee Exceptions

• If the Hockey, Ringette or Football bag's primary use is to transport player equipment then

the oversize / overweight fee will be waived (up to 100 lb.). • Sporting equipment such as hockey bag/stick or skis/poles/boots are considered to be one piece

of checked baggage

• The oversized fee will be waived for Fishing rods, Golf clubs, Skis/snowboards, and

Hockey/Ringette/Football bags. • The additional baggage fee (second, third or fourth bag fee) will be charged if applicable.

Additional/Excess baggage

Additional/Excess baggage – A maximum of two additional/excess bags, (including sporting

equipment) per fare-paying guest will be permitted

on a space-available basis only, to all destinations with the exception of Montego Bay.

$20.00 + tax (fee for 2nd checked item)

$50.00 + tax (fee for 3rd & 4th checked items)

Overweight baggage

Items weighing more than 23kg (50lb) but not over 45kg (100lb) = $50.00 + tax

158 cm – 200 cm (62 in – 80 in) = $50.00 + tax
