buildero A priest in the Old Testament is an advocate,

mediator or representative that builds a bridge between people & God.

o A priest offers gifts and sacrifices for sin.

Commentary on Hebrews 5:1

1 Chr 6:48-49 “Their fellow Levites were assigned to all the other duties of the tabernacle, the house of

God. But Aaron and his descendants were the ones who presented offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense in

connection with all that was done in the Most Holy Place, making atonement for Israel, in

accordance with all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.”

1 Peter 2:5 “you also, like living stones, are being built

into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices

acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

Lev 16:32-34 “So the priest who is anointed and ordained to serve as priest in his father’s place shall

make atonement: … He shall also make atonement for the priests and for all the

people of the assembly. Now you shall have this as a permanent statute, to make
