All optical characterization measurements shall be conducted at 1310/1550 nm for SM samples (Samples A, B, and C) and 850/1300 nm for MM samples (Samples D, E, and F). The adapter (DUT) is shown with only one port populated. The same procedure applies to all ports.

Mode Filter: Use five close-wound turns with minimal tension on smooth, round mandrels. Create fiber loop diameters. If the Fiber core diameter is 62.5 µm, it will need mode filter diameter of 20 mm. This value represents the fiber loop diameter. If cabled fiber is employed, reduce the mandrel diameter by the cable diameter. For example, 2.5 mm (0.1 inch) cables would require a 17.5 mm diameter (0.65 inch) mandrel to support the fiber loop diameter of 20 mm.

4.1.3 Test Requirement

The requirements for this test are as follows:

• Maximum IL shall be 0.75 dB.• Singlemode Samples: Minimum RL shall be 26.0 dB.• Multimode Samples: Minimum RL shall be 20.0 dB.
