We are always working to enhance our Chapter to better support you in this profession. Being an internal auditor can be a lonely profession but you are far from alone. Internal Audit has a strong presence in Toronto and it’s about to get stronger.
This year we are celebrating our 70th anniversary. We hope you
will celebrate with us and take this opportunity to get connected to your local internal audit community. We are focused on making these connections both easy and rewarding for you. You’ll probably even have some fun!
Here are some ways you can get connected:

What We’re Hearing
From You
Let’s Be Social
In the coming months we’ll be developing our social media platform so you’ll have more timely and concise news from us.
But we know you’d prefer dialogue, not monologue. So, we’re working to be more accessible to you and provide you with easier and more convenient ways to give us feedback and make stronger connections.

Let’s Celebrate
This year marks the IIA Toronto Chapter’s 70th
year. Toronto is a hot spot for the internal audit profession and we don’t take that for granted. At over 2,800 members, we are now the second largest chapter globally. We think that’s worth celebrating. Over the next year we’ll bring you more opportunities to stay connected and engaged with the Chapter.
You will see more events to build your local professional network, sharpen your audit skills and even share some audit war stories.
We are also working to better include our members that reside outside of the GTA.
From the Profession

IIA President and CEO, Richard Chambers, describes the additional responsibilities you have following changes that took effect in January 2013. Click here to find out how these changes affect you.

Be Here and Be Transformed
This September, the Institute of Internal Auditors is holding Canada’s 6
th annual IIA National Conference– the Heart of our
Continent. “Be here and be transformed” is a fitting conference theme not only for this city but also for our progressive and dynamic audit profession.
The conference education program committee has prepared a world class, inspiring program and thought provoking speakers in five educational tracks. What’s more is that you will enjoy networking with colleagues from across the country throughout the conference, and you can expect a fun and very memorable experience on our gala night.
Our keynote speakers will share their experiences and successes:
Lloyd Axworthy, President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Winnipeg, will share his thoughts on “Transformational Leadership”;
Adil Buhariwalla, Vice President of Internal Audit with Emirates Group in Dubai, will discuss passion, enthusiasm, and motivation, through “Don’t Ration Your Passion”;
Carman L. Lapointe, the Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services for the United Nations, will share “Rising to the Transformation Challenge: Which way is up?”; and
Paul Sobel, IIA Chairman and Vice President/Chief Audit Executive for Georgia-Pacific, LLC, will provide his thoughts on the Future of the Internal Audit Profession.
We will close our conference with a panel discussion on Organizational Governance – How do you transform from good to great? – And how should internal audit contribute to this transformation? Our senior panel, moderated by Brian Brown, CAE Canadian Grain Commission and Past Chair of IIA Canada, and including the Honourable Gary A. Filmon, Corporate Director, David Brown, Brown Governance, and Scott Mitchell, Chairman and CEO Open Compliance & Ethics Group (OCEG), are all leaders in modern governance practices who bring experience with boards and audit committees.
We look forward to seeing you! For registration, program details and costs, please visit http://www.iiacanadanationalconference.com
