HousingAssignments:HousingfeesguaranteeabedinJoffreyhousing;however,theydonotguaranteeaspecificroom,location,orroommate.JoffreyBalletSchoolreservestherighttomovestudentsforanumberofreasons,including,butnotlimitedto,roommateconflicts,apartmentrenovations,maintenance,changeofbuildingleaseagreements,etc.RoommateRequests:Studentsmayrequestaspecificroommatewhoisthesamegenderandwillberesidinginhousingforthesametimeperiod.Shouldyourequestaparticularroommate,everyeffortwillbemadetoaccommodateyourrequestbutwedoNOTguaranteethatyouwillbeplacedwithyourrequestedroommate.

DismissalfromHousing:IntheeventthatJoffreyBalletSchooldeemsthedancerunfitforhousing,Joffreyreservestherighttomovestudentsasweseeappropriateandtherighttoexpelanystudentlicenseatitssolediscretion.Behaviorthatcouldresultindismissalfromhousingincludes,butisnotlimitedtodamagingthepremises,havingunauthorizedpersonsinrooms,lending/givingkeystoanyperson,consistentdisregardforquiethours/disrespectingthoselivingaroundyou,useofdrugsoralcohol,andbreakingthetermsofthehousingagreement.Studentsdismissedfromhousingduetoanybreachofdormitoryrulesorprogramconductwillreceivenohousingrefund.Joffreyofferslivingaccommodationswithoutregardtorace,age,color,ornationalorigin.

Strike1–FirstWarning&CallhomeStrike2–SecondWarning,Callhome,&PossibleclasssuspensionStrike3–DismissalfromHousingForstrikes,thestudentwillcallhome,inthepresenceofanRAorChaperone.TheExecutiveDirectormakesdecisionsforclasssuspensionanddormdismissals,thoughwithinputfromTheDirectorofResidenceLifeandtheHeadR.A./HeadChaperone.Pleasenotethisstrikesystemdoesnotapplytoviolationsofthealcohol,drugs,andsmokingpolicy.AllJoffreyHousinglocationsarealcohol,drugandtobaccofreeandanyviolationwillresultinimmediatedismissalfromhousing.Inaddition,therewillbeasignificantmonetaryfinechargedtothestudentaccount.TheHeadR.A.smaysuspendthestrikesystematanytimeathis/herdiscretion.Alternativeconsequencesinclude,butarenotlimitedto,earlysignin,earlyroomcurfew,“workhours”(helpingtheRAsbyhangingposters,makingdoordecorations,etc.),andassistancewithtrashremovaland/orcleaningrooms.

ADDITIONALHOUSERULES

APPLIANCES:UseUL-listedmultipleoutletstripswithcircuitbreakersthathavethesamewattagecapacityastheappliancesthathavethesameamperagecapacityastheappliancestowhichtheyareconnected.Useofextensioncords andmultiple plugmodification to the electrical system is strictly prohibited. Eachstudent isexpectedtobeconsiderate towardsotherstudentswhochoosetogotosleepearly.QuietHoursbeginat8:00pmandendat8:00amSundaythroughThursdayandbeginat11:00pmandendat10:00amFridayandSaturday.Duringquiethours,noisemustbekepttoaminimum.Nostudentswillbeallowedto loiter inthehallways.Radios,stereos,speakers,andtelevisionsmustbeplayedatlowervolumelevels.

REHEARSING

Rehearsalmustbereasonableandnotdisruptivetothoselivingaroundyou.

DRUGS,ALCOHOL,ANDTOBACCO

Both of our housing facilities are dry residence halls. The possession, use, or consumption of alcohol, tobaccoand/orillegaldrugsisstrictlyprohibitedinsidethebuildings.WewillcontactthePoliceDepartmenttoreportthefollowingactivityinsidethebuilding:

• Consumptionofalcoholbythoseunder21orillegaldrugsbyanystudentorguest.

• Astudent,whetheroverorundertheageof21,whoprovidesalcoholtoanunderagestudentorguest.

• Discoveryofanystudentorguesttobeinpossessionoforusing,sellingordistributingmarijuanaorothercontrolledand/orillegalsubstances,(orinthecaseofprescriptiondrugs,withoutavalidprescription)withintheapartmentbuilding.Inthiscaseyourlicenseagreementwillbeimmediatelyterminatedandallmoniespaidforfeited.

FOOD&DRINKS

Foodanddrinksarenotpermittedinthehallways.FIREWORSKS,WEAPONSANDEXPLOSIVESTheunauthorizeduseorpossessionoffireworks,dangerouschemicals,andexplosivematerials,dangerousdevicescapableofcastingaprojectile,ammunition,bowsandarrows,swordsorotherlethalweaponsisprohibited.Otherobjectsmaybedeclaredasa“weapon”dependingonthecontextinwhichitisused.

KEYS,LOCKS&LOCKOUTS

Roomkeysandcodesarenotpermittedtobegiventoanyone,includinganauthorizedguest.Installingadditionallocksorchanginglocksonroomdoorsisprohibited.

If you have been locked out of your room there is a cost of $25.00 for each time you require a building staffmembertounlockyourapartment.Ifyouhavelostyourkeyfob,thecostofreplacementkeyscanbefoundbelow.

Lostkeyreplacementisachargethatmayrangefrom$50.00eachinBrown,Coleman,GoodeandRobinsonHallsto$175.00inBuildings1–4.Lostorinoperablekeysandlocksshouldbereportedimmediately.Whenyoucheckoutofaroomthekeymustbereturned.Keysmustbeturnedinduringthesemesterbreak; failuretodosowillresultinalostkeycharge.

FIRESAFETY

Theuseorpossessionofcandles,incense,otheropen-flamedevices,halogenlamps,open-elementelectriccookingunits(suchashotplates)anduseofcookingfatsandgreasesisprohibited.

CAREANDCLEANLINESSOFAPARTMENTANDROOMS

Studentsareresponsibleforthecleanlinessandcareoftheirrooms,aswellascommonareas,forhealthandsafetyreasons.Eachstudentwillbeaccountableforanydeteriorationoftheroomoritscontents(beyondnormalwearandtear).Chargeswillbeassessedforsuchdamagesanddeterioration.Studentsareexpectedtokeeptheirrooms,kitchenandbathroomfacilitiescleanandsanitary.PleaseseetheCheck-outProceduresectiononhowtoproperlyleaveyourroom.FOODALERGIES

Withresponsetofoodallergies,specificallyandpotentiallylifethreateningallergy,theJoffreyBalletSchoolwants

tobeclearthatwewilldoeverythingpossibletoavoidanysituationthatwouldputastudentatrisk,but,

ultimatelytheresponsibilitylieswiththestudentandtheirfamily.IfyoudecidetomoveyourchildintoaJBS

residenceitwillbethestudent’sresponsibilitytomakesurethatallutensils,cookingitemsandfoodbekeptspate

fromotherstudentswithwhothedormitoryroomisshared.Itistheparent’sresponsibilitytoinstructtheirchild

toprotectitselffromexposuretotheallergeninacommunalenvironment.Wearemorethanhappytoassistyou

andyourchildinthisprocessbutcannotguaranteenordowewarrantthatyourchildmaynotcomeincontact

withtheallergenwhileintheJBSdormitoriesorstudios.Ifthefoodallergyislifethreateningwestrongly

recommendthatyoufindsuitablehousinginaseparatecontrolledenvironmentoffcampus.Ifyouchosetostayon

campusyouwillberequiredtosignareleaseofliabilityform.

JoffreyBalletSchoolanditsstaffdonotguaranteeandarenotliableforthesafetyandsecurityofroomcontentsatanytime.

STUDENTRESPONSIBILITY

Becauseoftheinherentrisksinvolvedwithinanyhousinginanyurbanenvironment,studentsareexpectedtobealertandtomaintainpersonalresponsibilityfortheirsafety.Studentsmustlockthedoorstotheirapartments.Ifthereisaproblemorconcern,studentsshouldreporttheissuetotheHeadResidentAdvisor.

FURNISHINGSThefurnitureintheroomatthetimeofoccupancymaynotberemovedunless,permissionisgrantedbytheOfficeofResidentialLifestaff.Allitemsremovedmustberecordedontheroomrecoverysheet.Alterationstofurnitureareprohibited.Allbedsmustsitsecurelyonthefloorandmaynotbeelevatedbycinderblocksorotherstructures.Thetype,quantity,andconditionofthefurniturearenotedontheroominventory.Removaloffurniturefrompublicareasisnotpermitted.

ACCESS

Staffmayenteranyroomasnecessaryforroutinehealthandsafetyinspectionsandinthecaseofanemergency.During non-emergency situations, staff will acknowledge their presence (for example, by knocking). Staffmaymake random inspections of the student’s premise without advanced notice for the purposes of ensuring thestudent’sadherencetotherulesandregulationsofthebuilding.

PARENTALNOTIFICATION

JoffreyBallet School reserves the right to contact theparent(s) or guardians(s) of studentsunder the ageof 21involvedindangerousand/orinappropriatebehavior.

BUILDING/FACILITYUSEStudentsmaynotenteranyareawhereaccessislimitedtoauthorizedpersonnel(i.e.storage,equipmentrooms,

housekeepingareas).Climbing,rappelling,oranyrelatedactivityontheoutsideofanybuildingisprohibited.All

buildingroofsareofflimits.Noobjectsmaybethrown,droppedorsuspended(i.e.flags,banners,etc.)from

windows,roofs,orotherexteriorareas.ResidentialHallsshouldbeenteredandexitedthroughthemaindoors

only,exceptforemergency.Fireexitdoorsaretobeclosedatalltimes.Sittingorstandingontheoutsideof

stairwellsisprohibited.Forenergymanagementconcerns,windowsshouldnotbeopenwhileairconditioningis

on.Pictures,postersetc.maybehungonthewallprovidedtheadhesiveusedwillnotdamagethesurface.Nailsare

nottobeusedtoattachitemstowallsormoldings.Studentsmaynotpainttheirroomsnorstructurallyaltertheir

roomorfurniture.Decorationsshouldbeusedinmoderation.Thedoorwayandwindowshouldbefreefrom

obstructionatalltimes.Firesafetymustbeconsideredintheuseandplacementofalldecorations.Itisexpected

thatthefeelingsofothersaretakenintoconsiderationwhenplacingdecorativeitemsinplainview.TheUniversity

reservestherighttoremoveorrelocateanydecorationsfondinastudent’sroom.Studentsshouldconsultwith

OfficeofResidentialLifestaffifstudentshaveanyquestionsregardingtheappropriatenessofdecorations.

Affixinganysigns,flagsorbannersonanypartoftheoutsideofastudentroomdoor,hallways,stairwells,studentlounge,lobby,bathrooms,outsidethewindows,oroutsidethebuildingisstrictlyprohibited.

Playingsportsinthehallways,lobby,andstairwellsisstrictlyprohibited.

STORAGE

TheUniversitydoesnothaveanystoragespaceavailable.Allpersonalbelongingmustberemoveduponcheck-outoftheresidence.Thereisnostoragespaceavailable.Pleasebringonlywhatyoucankeepinsideyourroom.

THEFT

Theft,willfuldestruction,ordamagetoormisuseofanyFloridaInternationalUniversitypropertyorpropertyowned by any member of the community is prohibited. Anyone who violates this rule will be subject todisciplinaryaction.

VANDALISM

Anystudent,whovandalizespublicpropertyinoroutoftheresidence,willfacedisciplinaryaction.

REMOVALANDDISMISSAL

In addition to our three strike policy students may be dismissed from housing for reasons including, but notlimitedto,thefollowing:(1)DismissalfromtheJoffreyBalletSchoolProgramorotherprogramthestudentwasattending in connection with their need for housing. (2) Disregard for quiet hours/disrespecting those livingaroundyou.(3)Damagingthepremisesand/orthecontentsofaunit.(4)Havingunauthorizedpersonsinroomsattimesspecified,orlending/givingroomkeystoanyperson.(5)Useofalcoholordrugsinthebuilding.(6)Breakingthetermsofthehousingagreement.

SAFETYANDLIABILITY

Thestudentassumesfullresponsibilityforalllossesand/ordamagestothestudent,anyguest(s),anybelongings,and/or the contentsofhousingoccupiedorotherwiseunder the controlof the student. By signing thehousingagreementthestudentagreestoreleaseJoffreyBalletSchoolanditsemployeesofallobligationsand/orliabilitytothe student’s person, guest(s), and/or belongings, and/or the contents of Housing. Joffrey Ballet School is notresponsibleforanylossresultingfrombutnotlimitedtotheft,actsofnature,buildingconditions,negligence,etc.

COMPLIANCEWITHTHELAW

ThestudentshallobeyallpresentCity,State,andFederal lawsandordersorregulationsoftheFloridaBoardofFireUnderwriterswhichaffectthebuildingandshallcomplyatstudent’sexpensewithallsuchnoticeswhicharisefromstudent’simproperuseoftheroomorthebuilding.

CLEANING,DAMAGEANDOTHERFEES

Belowyouwillfindthescheduleofcostsforcleaning,damagedfurnitureanditemsinyourroomorapartment,andotherfeesyoumayincurwhilelivingormovingoutofhousing.

CLEANINGFEEANDDAMAGECHARGERESPONSIBILYPOLICY

Ifastudenthasasingleroomthenalldamageornecessarycleaninginthatroomisthestudent’sresponsibility.Ifastudenthasroommatesthenresponsibilityforthedamageornecessarycleaningissplitbetweentheroommatesregardlessofwhichroommateisallegedtohavecausedthedamage.Allstudentsofanapartmentareresponsibleforthedamagecostsoranynecessarycleaningrequiredinthecommonareasoftheapartmentwhichincludebutarenot limited to thehallways, bathrooms, andkitchen. TheONLY exception to the division of responsibility fordamagecostsisifastudentclaimsfullresponsibilityforanydamagecostsinwriting.Cleaningfeescannotbemadethe responsibility of any one student unless it is a student in a single room. THESE FEESWILL BE CHARGEDAUTOMATICALLYTOTHESTUDENT’SCREDITCARDONFILESHOULDTHEFEESEXCEEDTHEDAMAGEDEPOSIT.

Studentswhofailtoremovetheirpersonalpropertypriortocheckoutwillbechargedafeeof$150.00foranypersonal items left behind. This is to include items that are discarded in and around the building, except aspermittedinthetrashlocation.

CLEANINGFEES

Studentswhofailtocleantheirroomspriortothecheck-outinspectionandweeklyinspectionwillbechargedafeeof$150.00.A"cleaned”roomincludesthefollowing:

• Cleanfloors

• Cleanbathroom(walls,showercurtains,cabinets,floors,sinkcounters,bathtub,drains,andtoilet…etc)

• Garbageremoved

• Cleankitchen(ifapplicable)

• Refrigerator/Freezercleaned

• Allfurnishingsshouldbefreeofpersonaleffectsandwipedclean.

• Wallsfreeofadhesive,holesorpuncturesIMPORTANTDuringthecheck-outinspection,ifthecleanlinessoftheapartmentdoesnotmeetthe“cleaned”roomrequirement,afineof$150.00willbechargedtothestudent’sJoffreyaccountautomatically.Therewillbeaweeklyinspectionofapartmentcleanlinessbythehousingstaffforeachapartment.Studentswillreceiveawarningandgivenatimeframetocleantheapartmentafteranunsatisfactoryinspection.Afineof$150.00willbechargedtothestudent’sJoffreyaccountiftheapartmentisnotcleanedtosatisfactionafterthegiventimeframe.

FURNITUREDISASSEMBLYFEES

Anydisassembly,alterationorrearrangementoftheroomconfigurationprovidedbyHousingwillresultinafeeof$125.00perpieceoffurnituredisassembledormoved.Thisfeeappliesforfurnitureitemsthatweredisassembledandreassembledincorrectly.Also,youarenotpermittedtoremoveortradefurniturewithotherstudents.Ifyouneedapieceoffurniturereplaced,pleaseinformJoffreyBalletSchool.
