THE POINT. SUMMER 2019 NEWSLETTER

BUILDING YOUR COMMUNITYConstruction across The Point estate is progressing well.

Roadworks in Stage 12 are nearing completion, with new asphalt laid and final works underway. Upon completion, the official approvals will be requested from the local council and relevant servicing authorities to enable registration of titles for the land.

Construction has begun on Stage 13, including sewerage and drainage works.

Landscape works for the nature strips of Stages 10 and 11 are now complete, in addition to the landscaping of the waterway adjacent to the new Community Hub.

The new Town Park at The Point is in its final stages of construction. This involves landscaping of new grass and plants, in addition to the installation of a picnic shelter, children’s playground, jetty and much more. The park is scheduled for completion in December 2019, just in time for The Point’s fifth annual Moonlight Cinema on 3 January 2020.

Finally, works to improve the tidal flow connection between The Point’s waterways, Lakers Cutting and Swan Bay is continuing and is expected to be completed by Christmas.

THE POINT. SUMMER 2019 NEWSLETTER

MEET YOUR NEIGHBOURRetired teacher Pam Alsop has been making the most of The Point’s community feel since moving here in January this year. On the lookout for a new home three years ago, Pam came across The Point and was immediately sold on the waterfront views and coastal lifestyle, similar to Ocean Grove where she was living at the time.

“The original plan was to buy a block of land and build a home there but I quickly changed my mind after learning about The Pearl townhomes. They ticked every box; waterfront views, low-maintenance living and the opportunity to befriend all my

neighbours who lived right next door,” said Pam.

“I especially like my view from the upstairs balcony, it looks out over the nearby park and waterways. It’s a great vantage point to watch the estate come together around you.”

Pam doesn’t let retirement slow her down, with plenty of activities in Point Lonsdale keeping her busy including bike riding, tutoring and charity work with The Smith Family and The Dove Opportunity Shop. At the end of the day though, there’s nothing like coming home to The Pearl and watching the world go by.

“Even when you’re just in the front yard, everyone stops by to say hello. Not just your own neighbours but people walking their dogs often say hello when they’re out and about. It’s very easy to make friends in a place like this.”

NOW OPEN

COMMUNITY HUB OFFICIALLY OPENEDOn Monday 11 November, residents of The Point and local community members came together to celebrate the opening of The Point’s new Community Hub.

Opened by The Hon. Lisa Neville MP, Member for Bellarine, the Community Hub is a multi-purpose facility available for all Point Lonsdale residents and neighbouring communities to use and enjoy for a range of activities.

With more than 60 people in attendance, the event was a huge success with Moremac Property Group director Bryce Moore and The Hon. Lisa Neville MP unveiling a new plaque and officially opening the new facility.

During the development of The Point, the Community Hub will be managed by project developer, Moremac Property Group. Upon the estate’s completion, the facility will be owned and managed by the City of Greater Geelong.

The Point is now calling for expressions of interest from anyone wishing to use the Community Hub. For more information and to register visit our website.

THE POINT TOWN PARKWe are excited to announce that the Town Park at The Point is nearing completion.

Located on the corner of Coquina Drive and Point Boulevard with sweeping waterfront views, this beautifully landscaped park features a children’s playground, picnic shelter, jetty, basketball court, exercise stations, walking and cycling tracks and plenty of open green lawn space for everyone to enjoy.

The park is scheduled to open in time for our 2020 Moonlight Cinema event in January. Stay tuned via The Point’s website for the latest updates.
