2020 EAGLE LAKE TRAIL PROJECT

The trail project below the Eagle Lake southwest dam along Hawk Creek finally had decent weather to get work done. ELIA board members Dan Pomranke, Darrell Forkrud, Jim Brown and resident volunteer Gary Williams spent several days completing the different phases of the required work.

Clearing of brush was done. Then black dirt was brought in to raise and level the trail. Tile was installed to allow water flow where the trail was raised. Class 5 gravel was then placed on the trail. The above group leveled and formed three 6’x10’ concrete pads along the trail. 6’ steel benches were then put in place on the concrete pads in the natural setting along Hawk Creek. The final activity still to be done is to bring additional dirt in to level the area around each pad and place grass seed.

The above work crew deserves our thanks for creating an exceptional area on the lake that residents are now able to visit. The sights and sounds of the natural atmosphere along the creek can be enjoyed while walking and sitting on the placed benches. An added benefit is that people can now walk right up to the top of the dam and experience views from a different perspective.

At its July 8, 2020 regular meeting the Eagle Lake board made the difficult decision to cancel the August 12 2020 Summer Picnic for this year. After much discussion, the board determined that the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to cause potential risks in a large gathering. In the end, we didn’t want to expose our residents to that possibility. We look forward to being able to providing an event in the future.

Saturday, August 8, 2020The Eagle Lake Garage Sale will be advertised in the West Central Tribune on your behalf by the Eagle Lake Improvement Association. The sales will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the location being each participants garage (no specific addresses will be listed). This should encourage sale-goers to drive around the entire lake.
