INTRODUCTION TO SEWINGSewing is a fantastically fun hobby, and if you haven’t learned yet, you should! In this class, you will learn the basics on how to use a sewing machine and how to sew by hand. Then, you will put your new skills to use and make a one-of-a-kind reversible, fully lined and gusseted tote bag. Students should come to class with ½ yard each of 2 kinds of coordinating lightweight cotton fabric of their choice. All other supplies, including duct cloth for lining, will be provided.Age Group 11-13 Session II 12:05-1:20

INTRODUCTORY CROCHETLearn the wonderful fiber art of crochet! In this class, you will learn the basic stitches needed to create beautiful handmade projects such as potholders, scarves, coasters or placemats. No experience is necessary, but you do need to have patience and enjoy creating something unique from scratch.Age Group 10-13 Session I 12:05-1:20

MACRAME AND CLASSIC SUMMER CAMP LANYARDSCome learn not one, but two, fun ways to make some great summer craft projects! First, we will learn how to do macramé, a simple and fun fiber art. You can make bracelets, necklaces and even belts using hemp with bead accents. We will also learn how to make lanyards that are great for key chains, zipper pulls and much more.Age Group 8-13 Session I 1:25-2:45

T-SHIRT ARTIn this class you will create works of art that you can wear! You’ll design, and then create t-shirts that willimpress your friends and family. If you can imagine it, we will help you make it. COMPUTER ARTAre you a computer nut? Do you like creating works of art? How about combining your talents for this class. You will learn several programs to create works of art on the computer. COMPUTER GAMESIn this class you will play a variety of computer games. Some games will be played online with players from across the country, while other games will be on CD or DVD. Age Group: 5-12 Sessions I & II 8:30-9:45

DIGITAL ANIMATIONThis class will teach you how to Animate! You’ll learn fundamental animation concepts, and then learn how to apply these concepts to digital animation using computers. You will create your own short animation.Age Group: 8-12 Sessions I & II 10:10-11:25 Session III 10:25-11:55

DIGITAL IMAGINGIn this class you will use computer software to manipulate images, enhance photographs, make fun picture modifications, or create a digital sketch. You can learn how to Photoshop yourself into a picture that you can share with your friends and family.

ROBOTICSIn this class you will learn how to build and program the LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots, the coolest robot available. You will use your new skills to meet such challenges as reacting to intruders, moving objects to different locations, stinging an intruder with a robot tail, or beating your opponent in Battle-Bots. In this class you will learn to use different types of robotic sensors and robotic programming. If you have some Lego robotics experience or none at all, you will have the opportunity to learn new techniques that will make you a better robot builder, programer, and problem solver. *Robots are for use by students in class only. Wildcat Sports campsWildcat Sports Camps offer an intense and energetic week of skill development and game experience. A 75% refund will be given when WRITTEN notice of withdrawal is received no later than three weeks prior to the first day of class. Chess Camp at St. Mary’s Academy, ages 5-15, Introductory-AdvancedThis summer USA Chess is offering a fun and entertaining chess camp at St. Mary’s Academy. USA Chess is the largest and premier chess camp organizer for children in the United States. Their staff is comprised of the finest children’s chess instructors in North America. Registration options include mornings, afternoon and all-day sessions. Campers experience chess instruction and play in a fun filled environment designed to improve their skills whether they are interested in casual or competitive chess. Introductory Video Game Creation at St. Mary’s Academy, ages 8-15, Introductory-Intermediate, MS WindowsStarting with basic commands, campers will be taught in a step-by-step progression how to build a game that they design. Camp begins with an introduction to Game Maker software including adding rooms, building walls, adding backgrounds, warping to new levels, music, sound effects and many other great techniques. The first few days focuson programming basics and by late week the children are well on they’re way to creating their own unique game. At the end of camp each child is provided access to our custom download site. From this site they can download GameMaker LITE software, their games, our custom walk through guide and resource folder. Campers can continue to developtheir game and create new ones as well. Finally they will receive t-shirts, trophies and a certificate with photo

New! Kodu Video Game Creation, ages 7-12, Introductory-Intermediate, MS WindowsChildren as young as 7 years old can build their very own video game. Kodu, designed by a team from Microsoft is an easy to learn and fun way to create a unique video game. At our Active Learning Kodu video game creation camp, children 7-12 will learn to create a unique game using a curriculum created by Active Learning. In a step by step progression, characters are directed to move, collect bonus objects, defeat enemies and complete tasks to dominate the game. Kids design their own worlds and then will program their characters, create health, scoring, spawning characters and other cool features of their favorite games. At the end of the camp, if they bring a flash drive, they can take their game home with them to continue to create, or play.

*Extended Day Center provides a well-supervised, caring atmosphere for children ages 4-12. Children are enrolled for two-week sessions: Monday-Friday during Sessions I and II and for the one week during Session III. Children may come on a drop-in basis with prior arrangement. The rate for drop-in is $8 per hour, payable in advance. Late pickup is $10 per 15 minutes.
