The Niles Teen Center is a Village of Niles program that provides a welcoming, structured and safe environment for local teens to spend time with friends, receive homework assistance, play games and develop social skills. The Niles Teen Center promotes community service opportunities, special activities, trips and educational programs. Check out our newsletter for more information on all that we have to offer local teenagers. Membership - There is a $20 annual fee for teens who live in Niles. There is a $35 annual fee for teens who do not live in Niles. All youth must register with a staff person before using the Teen Center. We now accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover cards for membership and program registration. Memberships renew annually! Guests are welcome to attend with a current member or at a parent’s request up to three times if space and staffing allow. Guests must check in with staff and conditions apply. After three visits, membership is required for attendance. Weekly Activities/Programs

Sports Time Tuesday/Friday Most Tuesdays & Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. through the summer (weather permitting), the Teen Center staff will set up organized outdoor games at the Golf Mill Park. Games may include basketball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, or flag football. Meet at the Teen Center by 4:00 p.m. to participate.

Tournament Wednesdays Every Wednesday, the Teen Center staff will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Rocket League, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, foosball, air hockey and darts. Prizes may be awarded to winners.

Cooking with Maddie/ Activities with Crissy On scheduled Thursdays, Maddie will lead a free cooking activity throughout the summer. Also on scheduled Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 pm join Crissy for a special activity which could include games or arts & crafts. Bring a Friend Fridays On a selected Friday each month, if a current member brings a friend as a guest, both teens will receive a free soda and bag of chips. If the guest, purchases a membership, the current mem-ber & new will receive a $5 gift certificate for a local store (like Subway or Gloria Jeans Coffee) or $10 to Kappy’s Restaurant.

3rd Annual “TC Late Night Party”

Come to the Teen Center for our 3rd Annual “TC Late Night Party” for a night of fun! Activities will

include pizza and soda, a movie, organized games and tournament, DIY crafts and lots of hang-out time. This event will be supervised by staff and volunteers from the Niles Teen Center. “TC Late Night Party” is open to Teen Center members only. You must be a TC member by Thursday, June 6. You must turn in a Teen Trip form and money at the time of sign-up to guarantee your spot. Space is limited to 50 teens; sign up now!!! Place: Niles Teen Center Cost: $5 Date: Saturday, June 8 Time: 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm Doors open at 6:00 pm-no entry after 6:30 pm All teens are expected to be signed in and signed out by the adult that is providing transportation. You may not walk home after the event. You must be picked up by an adult. Registration Deadline: Thursday, June 6

Niles Cycling Classic Join the whole Niles community as we celebrate the joy of biking and make a commitment to bicycle safety. The event will include all day bike races/rides for professionals, novices and families. Join us

for family fun activities from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with food and beverages for sale, Family Fun ride at 6:00 p.m. bring your bikes and helmets. Date: Thursday, July 25 Time: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Location: Notre Dame College Prep (7655 W. Dempster)

4th of July Float and Parade BLUES BROTHERS THEME Come be a part of the Niles Parade with the Teen Center. We’ll join the parade in a truck, provided by Golf

Mill Ford, which we will decorate ourselves! Come to celebrate and pass out candy and flyers. Don’t stand on the sidelines; be a part of the parade! Please sign up by Tuesday, July 2 to participate. Dress in your best “BLUES BROTHERS” themed outfits as the Village of Niles parade is in-corporating movies filmed in Illinois. We will provide black hats and black sunglasses. Who: TC Members & Friends - grades 6-12 Date: Thursday, July 4 Time: 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Where: Starts at Notre Dame College Prep parking lot and ends at Grennan Heights Park (parents: meet teens at corner of Monroe and Osceola for pick-up)

National Night Out The Niles Police Department will hold the National Night Out Against Crime and Drugs. This is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. This event is held internationally on the first Tuesday in August.

Other communities will be simultaneously holding their events. This event will include a “flashlight walk,” “dunk a cop,” DUI simulation driving and much more. Come enjoy the fun and build the community spirit at this great event. Place: St. John Brebeuf Church & School (8307 N. Harlem) Date: Tuesday, August 6 Time: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Niles Mini-Golf and Batting Cages

Join Teen Center staff as we travel to the Niles Park District’s Pioneer Park for an

afternoon full of fun including 2 games of mini-golf and open batting cages. We may even have time for a game of kick ball in the playing fields. You must be at the Teen Center by 10:45 a.m. The bus will not wait if you’re late. We will be taking the 11:02 p.m. # 411 Niles Free Bus to the park and returning on the 3:10 p.m. bus back to Golf Mill. Please bring some extra cash for a snack and drinks at the concession stand. Niles Public Library: Teen Programs Summer Reading Challenge: It’s Showtime @ Your Library- Saturday, June 1 – Friday, August 23-Grades 7-12 Sign up in the Teen Underground to get a reading log and a temporary tattoo. Complete your log and exchange it for a bandana, plus entry in the weekly and grand prize drawings. No more than 1 log per day,

please. Check items off the summer bucket list to include on your reading log. Complete the entire bucket list for a tote bag full of bonus prizes. Complete as many logs as you like over the summer for more chances to win! Water Balloon Fight-Friday, August 2, 2:00-4:00 p.m.-Grades 7-12 Wage an all-out water war with your friends at Nico Park, supervised by our teen librarians. All teens interested in participating should meet Miss Rachel and Miss Donna in the Teen Underground at 1:30 p.m., where they’ll escort everyone as a group to Nico Park. Water balloons and popsicles will be provided. Remember to bring a dry change of clothes if you plan on coming back to the library afterwards. DROP IN

After Hours: Choose Your Own Adventure Scavenger Hunt-Friday, August 9, 7:00-9:00 p.m.-Grades 7-12 Be the first team to find all the items on your scavenger list. But beware: the items you pick up will change the game. Some choices will move you forward, others will send you back to the beginning. DROP IN

Oasis Water Park Come join the Niles Teen Center as we travel (via the Niles Free Bus) to the Niles Park District’s Oasis Fun Center for a day of swim-ming and water slides. You must be at the

Teen Center by 10:15 a.m. Make sure to bring appropriate swimwear (boys must have inside liner in trunks), beach towel and dry clothes for the bus ride back to the Teen Center. Bring extra money for the concession stand and quarters for the lockers. We will swim from about 11:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Magic Waters Waterpark Trip Beat the heat this summer at one of the best waterparks in Illinois! Zip down the Typhoon Terror or chill out in the Splash Magic River; there is something for everyone. Cost includes transportation, supervision, and admission (must be 42-48" tall for most rides). Bring money for lunch and

Homework Assistance: Having trouble with your Math homework? Need some ideas for a Social Studies, Science or Literature project? Struggling with scholarship or university applications? The knowledgeable Teen Center staff is available to offer academic assistance for all middle school and high school students. We will also offer volunteer tutors (days and times are to be determined.)

Register your Bicycle: Protect your bike from thieves by registering it with the Niles Police Department! Every year the Niles Police Department accumulates a number of lost or stolen bikes and is forced to sell them at an auction because their owners cannot be identified. When you register your bike, your bicycle’s information is entered into a national database allowing the Police Department to contact you if it is ever lost or stolen. So don’t be left walking while someone else rides away on your bike. Register your bike through the Niles Teen Center or Niles Police Department.

Community Service Hours: Attention High School & College Students: If you need community service hours for a club, organization or leader-ship position, the Teen Center can provide the opportunity to earn those credits through role modeling, tutoring or assisting with special events. Talk to Mark to see what options we can offer.

Emergency or Off-Site Events: If there is an emergency, an off-site event or you need immediate attention, please call the Teen Center main line 847-588-6900 and select option (1). This will connect you directly to the Director or

on-call staff member. Please be considerate of staff’s personal time and only use this option if absolutely necessary. Thank you for your cooperation!

In-House Movie Nights Come to the Teen Center for Teen Movie Nights. Stop by or call to recommend a teen movie. All movies will be PG or PG-13. Bring a pillow or blanket and make yourself at home. Teens are provided 1 soda, 2 chips and unlimited pop-

corn. Additional snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Pickup time is subject to change based on movie run-times. No sign-up prior to event is necessary.
