SUPPLY FEES: This is payable directly to the instructor at the beginning of class. The fee covers hard-to-find or expensive items that the instructor has easy access to or can be purchased in bulk. This fee is indicated by the letters “SF” after each class description.

LEARN A CRAFT: SILVERSMITHING, 18+ YRSDonna HarrisYou will start by creating a beautiful bracelet from sterling silver wire. It will be bent to fit, soldered and a stone of choice will be added to enhance the bracelet. The design is very simple but extremely attractive and wearable. The second piece you create will be a ring, sized to fit your finger (or a friend’s) and enhanced with a stone to match your bracelet. If we have time, you will make another project of choice. few maestros of Murano, Italy, as an Artist in Residence in the

PAINTING ON GLASS 101, 18+ YRS Stan PriceThe process of creating black and white imagery on clear sheet glass will be the focus of this class. Each student will trace and matte a piece of clear glass over a black and white image of their choice, either of their own design, or one of several provided designs. Note: Don’t worry if you don’t understand “trace” and “matte” - that is part of what you will be learning. Multiple layers of paint will be applied and the piece will be fired with the goal of creating depth and shading in one firing. By the end of the class, students should feel comfortable adding paint to any project. ADVENTUROUS IMAGES WORKSHOP, 18+ YRSNat SeymourThis course will have you seeing in different ways and taking pictures with fresh perspectives. Each week we will practice new photographic techniques, take more pictures over the week, then review and compare notes. Emphasis will be on fun and creativity. Students should bring their digital camera (with an “M” mode), complete camera manual and any other photographic equipment they want to use. This course is intended for intermediate-level photographers who are familiar with how and why to vary aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Required textbook is “PHOTO OP” by Kevin Meredith (ISBN 978-0-240-81400-1). Supply list provided at registration. Supply fee payable to instructor at class. Content is also directly applicable to Photoshop, the more comprehensive and more expensive cousin of Photoshop Elements. Schack Art Center is honored to have Davide Fuin, one of the few maestros of Murano, Italy, as an artist in residence in the glassblowing studio for an entire week this July.

Davide specializes in fine blown glass and goblets using traditional Venetian techniques such as zanfirico, filigree, reticello, fumè, and cristallino. He is recognized for his goblets, bowls, plates, and historical reproductions—his work can be found in museums and galleries around the world.

Current Schack glassblowing students will have the exclusive opportunity to watch the master up close. Students may reserve a seat inside the hot shop for only $50 per day. Limited to 10 students per day, reservations are recommended. Call 425-259-5050 to reserve your spot now.
