2014 Washington State Summer Camps and Programs for
Children with Special Health Care Needs
Finding a summer camp or program is only part of sending your child to camp. Other issues to think about include how to communicate with camp staff, what to pack, and how to help if your child gets homesick. These articles and resources address these concerns. Camp Fire’s Summer Day Camp serves children with and without disabilities in a mainstreamed setting
The program seeks to include children with mild to moderate disabilities depending on volunteer availability. Children needing extra assistance are matched with trained teen helpers.
Eleven day camps operate for one week each at parks throughout the area using caring, well-trained, responsible volunteer staff

24 hour medical supervision by medical professionals specializing in diabetes management (camper: medical staff ratio of 8:1)

Camp STIX
Our goals are to provide a safe, healthy, and enjoyable camp experience; enable campers to meet and share their experiences with other diabetic youth; and to empower campers to become responsible for individual control of their health.
Campers receive optimum diabetes care from local physicians, diabetes educators, pharmacists, and dieticians.
Our 24-hour medical staff monitors diet and supervises insulin administration and blood sugar testing.
Campers have the tools and resources to successfully manage their diabetes while at camp by balancing their activity level with their food and insulin intake.

Northwest Center Teens Day Camp
