What an interesting time to be in the field
of health care! Other medical teams seem lost
trying to figure out how to move toward
value‐based care (and away from the more
traditional fee‐based system). PACE programs like
CentraCare are very pleased that our model is leading the
way through these important changes.
Because of all that is happening, you may hear stories about
new services and programs being offered. Or you may get
mail inviting you to join a new insurance plan. But before
you respond, please talk to one of our social workers or other
staff members. It is all very interesting – but it can also be
very confusing.
We are proud to serve you as your managed care
organization, medical provider, interdisciplinary team, and
community support network.
Have a GREAT SUMMER!

Surviving Michigan Summer Heat!
Keeping Your Cool When It’s Hot Outside
Stay Cool! Use an air conditioner or go to a cool place.
Use fans only when the windows are open or air conditioner is turned on.
Drink plenty of fluids, even if you are not thirsty.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks like soda pop.
Take cool showers or baths.
Keep shades and curtains closed to block
sun from coming in your home or office.
Avoid exercising and physical activity during the hottest part of the day.
Stay out of the sun.
Wear sunscreen (at least SPF 15).
If you have concerns about staying cool, CentraCare can help you beat the heat!!

SPOTLIGHT –100 YEARS YOUNG IN BATTLE CREEK!
Tina Rose recently celebrated her 100th birthday.
Tina is a remarkable woman who has achieved
many things for our community. She started an
organization to help migrant workers get clothing
and household items, which existed for more than
40 years. Tina has been known to sew 5 dresses in
one night! And she loves to speak (and translate)
Spanish, her native language. Be sure to stop by to
say, “Hola” and “Feliz Cumpleaños” the next time
you see Tina in our Battle Creek Center!

Dietary Reminder
A friendly reminder: please do NOT share food with anyone or bring food or drink into the

temperature and safety could also be an issue with food brought in from the outside. Thank you!
Spotlighting our Kalamazoo Floral Designers
Jean Crawford loves arranging flowers and has been in the floral business for many years. She was glad to help fellow participant, Bev Elliott and our Recreational Therapist, Becky, put flowers together for our Day Health Center.
