Membership DescriptionsAnnual: Annual memberships are valid for 1 year and are non-transferable or refundable. Renewal of annual membership must be completed within 30 days of the expira-tion date or will be subject to repayment of the Joining Fee.

Monthly E-Pay: Upon joining, payment of the first 2 month’s dues is required. With your authorization, an automatic monthly withdrawal will begin the following month of membership from either a checking account or credit card. This is an ongoing deduction that remains in effect until 30 day written notice is provided via Cancellation Form. Payment of fees must be kept current, or membership will be subject to cancellation.

Summer Membership: All summer memberships run from Memorial Day to Labor Day (May 28 – Sept 3). All memberships will expire as of Labor Day regardless of Sign up. This membership does not qualify for use with summer camp registration or guest policy. Renewal of this membership to a full membership requires a payment of the initia-tion fee.

Guest Policy · Annual memberships of Family, Adult, Single Parent, Senior, Senior Couple and Young Adult are permitted to bring a guest. Guests are NOT permitted on a short–term membership. (e.g., summer, college break, etc.)

· Valid photo I.D. required.

· A guest is one individual.

· Members must accompany guests at all times when visiting the YMCA and are responsible for their guest’s conduct.

· Each guest may visit the facility five (5) times annually before they are asked to join. After five visits, the cost per visit is $20.

· All guests must fill out a Guest Pass Waiver and have their ID verified upon first visit.

· Guests under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver.

registration informationMember registration begins on Tuesday, June 5th at 7:00pm. On Friday, June 8th at 10:00am, registration opens up to potential members of the Somerset Hills YMCA. If you have any registration questions, please contact Karen DiGiovanni (908) 630-3528.

IMPORTANT DATES & NOTES FOR ALL REGISTRANTS:

• All registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. • Individuals must use our online system to register. If you have previously registered through our online system, your User ID and Password are already set up. • Your current email must always be on record with the YMCA for your ease in registering and receiving your registration confirmation. • If you need to update your email, please do so prior to the start of registration by contacting Karen DiGiovanni at (908)630-3528 or e-mailing: [email protected]. • If you already have an account set up but have forgotten or misplaced your login and password, you may click “Retrieve Login” and type in your email address. Your login and password will be sent to you via email. • We encourage people to familiarize themselves with the online registration offerings and process prior to registration day. Please visit our website to review a detailed description of the courses, registration process, class availability, to check your account, or to make a payment (including E-Pay credit card/bank draft payments). Please view the “Registration FAQs” section under programs to find directions on how to register for programs using your online credit. • If you are a first-time registrant, you must first set up your account in order to get a User ID and password.

Class Refund/Credit Policy: • Requests for a credit of your class fee must be submitted in writing on a Credit Request Form (available at the Welcome Centers) prior to the start of the third week of the program session. • Please note that after Week 2 of the class session, credits will be issued for medical reasons only (requests must be accompanied by a Doctor’s note). Credits are for the rest of the season, not for individual classes. • Credits will be pro-rated based on the number of classes attended. A $5.00 processing fee will be charged if you change or drop a class, unless the change is due at the request or need of the YMCA. • For details on this policy and how to access your online credit, please go to our website. • Credits or refunds are not given for closings due to weather or emergency situations.

important informationSevere Weather PolicyIn case of inclement weather, individualsare encouraged to call the YMCA at (908)766-7898 ext. 500 for information regarding program cancellations, delayed openings of the facility or closures. You may also receive updates by visiting our website at www.somersethillsymca.org. During our winter season we will make every effort to remain open. However, we do want to make sure that all ourmembers and staff remain safe during any inclement weather situation and reserve the right to delay our opening or close the facility when deemed necessary. If we choose to delay the opening or close the facility, we will make that decision by 4:00 a.m. Monday-Friday,and by 5:00 a.m. on the weekends. Classes canceled due to weather willnot be made up and credits will not beissued. (Please note ALL POOLS will close in the event of a Thunderstorm )

preschool & youth programs

YMCA Adventure GuidesThis program is for children and their fathers or their male rolemodels. The children must be in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The purpose of this program is to strengthen the father-child bond.Each month, father-child pairs meet in small groups called “circles”for games, crafts and refreshments. “Expedition events” are opento all participants of the program and may include campouts,museum overnights, dad/daughter dances, sporting events andmore! The Adventure Guides also sponsor a Food Drive in the falland special evenings such as Santa’s visit to the Y on a fire truck, roller blading parties and other fun events. Returning memberregistration will takeplace May 1-June 1, 2012. All returningmembers must be registered by September 1st or they will not be able to participate in the fall campouts. New member registrationwill take place in early September. There will be an AdventureGuides Kick-off Party on September 9 from 1-4pm in the YMCA Teen Center. Y Trail ProgramTrail Blazers – Fathers & Sons Grades 4-8thTrail Mates – Fathers & Daughters Grade 4-8thThis is an exciting and challenging program for fathers and theirolder children. In the fall of 2011, the Trail Mates went white water rafting on the Lehigh River. While the Trail Blazers went wintercamping at Frost Valley, the Trail Mates went for a ski weekend atSno Mountainin Scranton, PA. This spring, the Trail Mates participated in overnight horseback riding and tent camping trip in Hawley, PA while the TrailBlazers will be weekend camping at a New York YMCA Camp in Greenville, NY. In addition to these activities, membersof the Y Trail Program are invited to participate in some of theopen Adventure Guides activities such as the Ringling Brothers Circus in March.Contact Mary McCabe at [email protected] $25 per person or $50 dad/child

Millicent Fenwick Day Care Center Ages 18mos.- 5yrsOur state certified day care center is open from 7:30am-6:00pm, Mon-Fri. All programs are led by certified teachers and highly qualified assistants. Gym Waddler/Toddler Ages 9mos.-3 yrsThese 45 minute Parent/Child classes offer toddlers an opportunity to further develop strength, flexibility and social skills through a variety of age appropriate activities including group songs, equipment circuit, and parachute. karate“TOT” Kwon Do Ages 4-6yrs*This “non contact” form of Korean Karate is FUN, SAFE, andEFFECTIVE. Class will be taught by Miranda Coppola, 3rd Degree Black Belt and certified pre-school teacher. Miranda has beenteaching “TOT” Kwon Do since 1999. Children will work onfurthering their hand-eye coordination, attention span and motor skills. The classes will also emphasize basic memorization of physical movements and stress non-violent behavior. Kids willreceive positive reinforcement and progress through various “stripes” of white belt. Tae Kwon Do/Korean Karate Adults & Families*The American Tae Kwon Do Academy has been providing classes at the YMCA since 1993, and has one of the largest and most success-ful Chung Do Kwan schools in the USA! Surround yourself with Black Belts and motivated people! Come enjoy some “Family Exercise with a Purpose.” This popular class stresses positive reinforce-ment and offers the challenge of progressing through the ranks of “White” to “Black” belt. This classical Tae Kwon Do class is rigorous, effective, and lots of fun! Children will learn setting and achieving goals, respect by working with adults, and confidence by learning self-defense. Outdoor AdventureWednesday “BIKE RIDES” or “FITNESS HIKES” Bike Rides tend to run April to November & Fitness Hikes run Dec. to Mar. If the weather is wet or icy we will hike instead of bike. Grab your bike and join us for scenic bike rides past meadows and farms, occasionally even “rail trails” or canal paths. We live in an amaz-ing place for scenic cycling on the back roads of NJ & PA. Bike rides offered will range from road bike rides to mountain bike “off-road” rides. Distance, levels and terrain will vary. Some introductory rides will be offered along with intermediate and more advanced rides. In the colder and wetter months of Dec to Mar. we will put on our hik-ing boots and hit the local trails for fitness hikes. Weekly updates will be sent out via email with ride details. The Cardiac Care Wellness Program This is a Phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and Risk Factor Reduction Program. It is designed for individuals with heart disease and/or individuals with risk factors that could lead to heart disease. A strength/fitness program for cancer patients and survivors based on the curriculum developed by Stanford University. LIVESTRONG™ at the YMCA is a twelve week small group program designed for adult cancer survivors who have become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment and/or disease. The program is offered with no cost to the participants. Our goal is to help patients build muscle mass and muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance, and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes, and improving energy levels and self esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants in developing their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of their recovery, but as a way of life. Family and Open SwimChildren UNDER 7 yrs of age and UNDER 48 inches tall must be with an adult who is wearing appropriate swim attire and in the water within arms’ reach of the child at all times, including in the zero-entry play area of the Stoddard pool.

Children ages 7-11 must be supervised by an adult in the pool area at all times.

Only US Coast Guard approved floatation devices are allowed during Family and Open swim. Lifejackets are available for member use.

Participants 17 and under will be required to take a “Deep Water Ready” test to swim in the deep end.

Stoddard Water SlidesRiders must be at least 48 inches tall. For safety reasons, there will be no exceptions to this rule.

Masters Swim Program Make swimming more than just going back and forth. Masters offers coached workouts geared toward swimmers who have a desire to do interval training and are looking for a more social swimming experience. Swim Team Ages 7-18yrsA member of the Northern New Jersey YMCA Swim League, the Somerset Hills YMCA Swim Team competes year round in both YMCA and USA sanctioned swimming events. With 250 swim-mers between the ages of 7 and 18, each swimmer is placed in one of our progressive practice groups based upon age and coaches’ evaluation. The primary season runs from September through March providing each swimmer with the opportunity to compete on a dual meet team and participate in Championship meets. S.T.A.R.S.This swimming class is geared for children with special needs who cannot participate in our traditional swim lesson program.This offers the child the benefit of small group instruction inpersonal water safety skills and stroke basics. AQUA S.T.A.R.S This is the next level of aquatics instruction for children with special needs. This program is a continuation of our beginner level STARS Program. It focuses on greater independence in the water and greater development of stroke technique. Completion of the Special Needs Intake Form is required.

Achievers Program Ages High School Graduates+ Coming in Fall 2012, the Achievers Day Program has been designed to focus on employment acquisition and retention skills. The program will run in a 12 week cycle format that teaches the participants how to master the “soft” skills necessary for successful employment and community integration. Focus on skill building in such areas as team building, communication and networking. Participants will be able to practice their emerging skills in various natural settings at the Y. Due to the cumulative nature of our dance classes, in which the students practice and train towards our end-of-the-year recital, our classes will meet over the course of the entire school year (Sept.-June). Beginning with our Summer Program registration, participants will sign up for the dance class or classes of their choice and registration will be complete for the year. Payment may be made in full for the school year or with the E-Pay Option.

Kreative Kids Ages 2 ½ - 3 years (by session only)*This class is to introduce movement to young children. Have your son or daughter ready to learn basic movement while having fun! Lifeguard Training Course •Minimum age: 15 years by the last day of the class •All participants must pass a pretest which consists of swimming a total of 300 yards (12 lengths of the pool) continuously and retrieving a 10lbs object from a minimum of 7 feet of water and swimming with it on their back for 20 yards. •Fee for the Regular Course will be $320. •Refund Policy: Refunds will only be given up through the completion of the pre-test for the course which is designed as the entrance into the course itself. •Upon successful completion of the lifeguard course, participants will be certified in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional rescuer.For more information contact (908)766-7898 ext. 518.
