The Internship...When people hear the word “internship,” they think of college students running copies and fetching coffee. Not at the AJGA… It’s more like young professionals running tournaments and pouring their own coffee – because they need it.

It’s not your typical internship experience. This intense, hands-on traveling position requires candidates to be on their toes at all times. With a wide variety of tasks, AJGA summer staff members don’t hold a normal 9-5 schedule. Alarms set in the 5 a.m. time frame are not uncommon and lunch is usually held with a side of on-course rulings and Get Crackin’ Pace of Play officiating.

The AJGA’s traveling staff assists in the implementation of over 80 tournaments throughout the duration of the spring and summer months. Without their assistance, the AJGA wouldn’t be able to continue its growth and expansion of playing opportunities.

This year’s summer staff consists of 23 females and 29 males who represent 46 universities from all over the country. They will travel for approximately 10-12 weeks to help set up, facilitate and tear down events in their designated region, while at the same time providing a first-class experience to Golf’s Next Generation.

These 52 staff members come to the AJGA with a wide variety of experiences. Those experiences, coupled with eight days of hands-on training have set them on the path to success, both with the AJGA and beyond.
