III An adjective clause is a subordinate clause used to modify a noun or a pronoun in the main clause. It may be
introduced by the pronouns who, whose, whom, which, or that (and sometimes when or where). These pronouns are
called relative pronouns because they relate to a noun or a pronoun in the sentence.
Combine these sentences with an adjective clause. Use the words in brackets.

V The first conditional is a structure used for talking about possibilities in the present or in the future. A first
conditional sentence consists of two clauses, an “if” clause and a main clause. When the “if” clause comes first, a
comma is usually used but if the “if” clause comes after the main clause there is no need for a comma.

XIV A dependent clause used as an adverb within a sentence to indicate time, place, condition, contrast,
concession, reason, purpose, or result is called an adverb clause or adverbial clause. An adverb clause begins with
a subordinating conjunction (such as if, when, because, although etc) and includes a subject and a predicate.

Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is in Agra, northern India. It stands beside the River Yamuna (or Jumna) The TajMahal is said to be the
most beautiful building in the world. In the seventeenth century there was an emperor called Shah Jahan, who ruled India.
His favourite wife was Mumtaz Mahal.When Mumtaz died, Shah Jahan was very sad He decided to have a beautiful
building, the Taj Mahal, built in her memory Work began on the building in 1632 but it wasn’t completed until around
1648The Taj Mahal is built of white marble and sandstone. Its walls are inlaid with
semi-precious stones. There is a central dome with minarets at each corner. A minaret is a slender tower. The building
stands in beautiful gardens with pools. It took twenty thousand workers to build the Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan wanted to
build a similar building on the other side of the River Yamuna. However, before it could be built, the Shah was
imprisoned by his son. When Shah Jahan died, he was buried next to his wife. Many thousands of tourists visit the Taj
