Telegraph Summer
Party Venue Ideas
Before we present some venue options for the Telegraphs Summer Party in 2010… please let us take a moment to tell
you why the most high profile clients come back to us again and again, and why we’re recommended by some of the
UK’s most prestigious venues.
We believe that every event should be a special event. That’s why we work with you to create and design an event that
achieves your aims and realises your dreams.
No event brief is too challenging to esc, achieved by our attention to detail and the result has been critical acclaim for our
events.
Size isn’t everything..
As a small business we can offer the agility and flexibility many can’t whilst providing the support, longevity and experience to
ensure your event goes without a hitch. You won’t have to speak to a different person and repeat yourself each time you have a
request, you will have a dedicated senior member of the team allocated to you who truly understands your requirements.
The right foundations
We never lose sight of the fact that ours is a people business. We work hard to ensure that any event we’re involved in exceeds
expectations in every aspect. We do this in the hope that we’ll develop a long-term relationship with you, where we can make a
tangible, long-term difference to your business. We also like to think (and many of our clients would agree) that we’re fun
people to work with!
Target in sight
We never lose sight of the reasons driving your decision to hold an event. Throughout this process we’ll question and
challenge, we’ll make suggestions, develop new ideas and suggest alternative viewpoints, ever mindful that your event exceeds
your defined goals. We do this by establishing objectives early on and then constantly revisiting them through each aspect of
the event delivery process. We can also help you devise metrics to prove how successful your event has been with your target
audience!
Why esc?
© esc events 09
esc events are proud to be in a position to be able to give something back to local communities, sustainable projects and worthwhile charities.
We annually invest a lot of time and money to ensure that others benefit from our successes.
Make A Wish Foundation
This is a charity very close to the hearts of our Directors John & Clare, and as a result we make regular donations. In May 2010 we have
offered to fund and organise the inaugural May Ball which will take place at Painshill Park in Surrey.
Enduro Africa
In October this year, our MD John Wickens will spend 10 grueling days biking (in land) from Port Elizabeth to Durban in South Africa to raise
money for UNICEF, Sentebale – The Princes' Fund for Lesotho, the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and Touch Africa.
The Millies (The Sun Military Awards)
Every year, esc events design and manage The Millies, an awards show conceived by HRH The Prince of Wales and sponsored by The Sun
the purpose of which is to honour heroes from our military services. We are particularly proud to be associated with this prestigious show as
it’s a cause we all support.
Help For Heroes
Next year, our MD will be taking part in the ‘Big Battlefield’ Bike Ride to raise money for the Help For Heroes. The ride takes place in May
2010 and covers 400 miles.
Corporate Social Responsibility
In line with our company CSR Policy, we have created links with three very worthwhile organisations. The first is the RNLI helping them to
promote their unique training centre in Poole, Dorset as a conference & teambuilding facility where every penny spent goes directly to help
saving lives. The second is a unique & unusual venue in Cornwall which is both locally sustainable and carbon neutral. We’re helping to
promote and sell this amazing space in the hope that we can encourage clients to be more aware of their impact when organising something
as simple as an offsite meeting. The third are numerous community projects located around the country which whilst helping to landscape
communal areas or rebuild walls, our clients can gain valuable team building experience.

Visualise
We want you to be able to visualise your event and understand exactly how it run, which is why we spend time going over every detail of your
event to make sure it is exactly how you imaged it.
Your brief
Based on your event at the HAC in 2008, we have put forward a number of special venues which will be able to achieve a similar brief.
• London Location or within easy reach of London
•700-750 guests for a seated dinner
• Unlimited Beers, Wines, and Soft Drinks

Old Billingsgate – Unrivalled space to create
© esc events 09
Synopsis
Rising from the banks of the River Thames, in the heart of the City,
stands a striking historic building which is part of London’s heritage.
Given a high-tech twist by Lord Richard Rogers, old billingsgate now
accommodates three versatile event spaces to feed your
imagination.
Moments from Tower Bridge, this Victorian Grade II Listed building
has been transformed from a world famous fish market into London’s
premier event space. Old Billingsgate has hosted some of London’s
most prestigious events, from sparkling film premieres to dazzling
award ceremonies.
Vital Stats
40,000 square feet
Maximum Dinner Capacity – 1700
Address
Old Billingsgate,
1 Old Billingsgate Walk,
London
EC3R 6DX
Why we’re recommending it
Old Billingsgate offers one of the largest blank spaces in a premium
London location. It offers the ability to design the event you want to
create and the outside space, so critical for a summer event, with
views down to Tower Bridge.
Battersea Power Station – A 20th Century Icon
© esc events 09
Synopsis
The Boiler House at Battersea Power Station is a unique venue at
the heart of a London landmark. The structure includes a clear gable
end and roof section that allow the majesty of the power station’s
chimneys to permeate the venue. This exceptional space offers an
adaptable setting for a diverse range of events including product
launches, award ceremonies, private functions, fashion shows,
charity balls, screenings, receptions, exhibitions and banqueting.
Vital Stats
13,000 square feet
Maximum Dinner Capacity – 600
Address
Battersea Power Station
Gate 2
188 Kirtling St
London
SW8 5BN
Why we’re recommending it
This is a unique opportunity to host your event at the heart of one of
London’s most regognisable buildings before immanent
redevelopment. Although the space is only capable of a 600 person
sit down dinner, the outside space around the venue will allow for a
fair ground, which proved so popular at the previous telegraph
summer party, with a Ferris Wheel offering a unique, and rarely
seen, perspective of London. Your guests will have never, and will
never see again, Battersea Power Station from this perspective.
The Tate Modern – The Turbine Hall
© esc events 09
Synopsis
The Turbine Hall is the centre piece of Tate Modern; this refurbished
power station offers guests the unique opportunity to dine in the
largest modern art Gallery in the UK. Installations in The Turbine Hall
change throughout the course of the year. On the occasions when
there are no exhibits, you will have the rare opportunity to make use
of the entire space. The Turbine Hall becomes a blank canvas which
can be transformed to reflect the message of the company.
Vital Stats
Turbine Hall Floor and Bridge for reception
Maximum Dinner Capacity – 800
Address
Tate Modern
Bankside
London
SE1 9TG
Why we’re recommending it
This incredible space is rarely available for corporate events, with
only 8 – 9 being allowed per year. Host your reception on the bridge
overlooking the fantastic turbine hall set for your event. We will use
lighting to highlight the scale of the building and aerial artists can
perform from the top of the building. With the venue hire comes
corporate membership of the tate modern and the opportunity to host
3 more events free of charge on levels 3-7.
Wortham Park – A stunning manor house venue

A house of outstanding quality, Wrotham Park is an excellent venue
for private parties, corporate hospitality events, banquets, receptions,
boardroom luncheons and meetings, product launches and
presentations. The house is not open to the public and therefore
offers clients exclusive and private use for their event. No overnight
accommodation is available, but being located just 17 miles from
Hyde Park, there are excellent hotels within a short distance.

dramatic entrance to the marquee, and a dramatic centerpiece to the
venue, something no other space can offer. ESC will custom design
a beautiful space for your event.
Althorp House – A historic family home

Synopsis
Home to the Spencer family since 1508, Althorp brings 500 years of
history to life.

marriages, each intriguing room in the house provides an
inspirational backdrop for modern events.

warmth of this historic family home for yourself.

Why we’re recommending it
Althorp House is a venue that is steeped in history and is maintained
as an exclusive property for events. Still home to the Spencer family,
the beautiful grounds and history lend itself perfectly to a large
dinner. We recommend guests entering through the house before
exiting through a covered walkway to the main marquee. The
beautiful lawns can be utilised for the crucial outside space. Your
most important guests can stay overnight in the 15 state bedrooms.
Only an hour out of London, shuttle coaches can be arranged and
there is an array of local hotel options.
The HAC – The City Garden Venue

2008, now all based in one room. However, the venue does still offer
unrivalled lawns in Central London.

Why we’re recommending it
ESC operate many events a year at Hampton Court Palace, from TV
award ceremonies to Royal weddings. It is renowned as one of the
premier venues in London to host your special event. For an event
such as yours, we’d build a marquee venue to meet your
requirements. However we would have to work around the Flower
Show dates.
