What's New? - Rider Alerts

4How to Ride Sun Tran

1. Arrive at your stop at least five minutes early.Wait where the coach operator can see you.2. Check the sign above the front window tobe sure it travels to your desired destination. 3. Stay back from the curb and wait until thebus comes to a complete stop.4. Be ready with SunGO card or ticket orexact change before you board. If paying theeconomy fare, tap your SunGO ID & Card onthe farebox, then show it to the driver.5. If you have a SunGO Card or SunGO ID &Card, even if paying cash, a transfer will loadonto the card when tapped on the farebox. Ifyou paid a full fare in cash, but dont have aSunGO Card, request a transfer from the driver.6. The bus or operator will announce majorstops and intersections. Feel free to ask theoperator to call out your destination.7. About one block from your desired stop,pull the cord or press the bell tape next to thewindow.8. Gather personal belongings and exitthrough the rear door. If you have a bikestored in the bike rack, exit from the front.

Rules for Riding

Be Safe Never run after a bus. Buses may not stopafter they have pulled away from the curb. After boarding, quickly take a seat in anorderly manner. Listen to your coach operator. They're inthe driver's seat. Shirt and shoes are required. No smoking on buses, including electroniccigarettes. We suggest you remove your childrenfrom strollers prior to boarding, fold thestroller and keep it out of the aisle. If you must stand during your ride, grabon to a rail or seat back, and stay behindthe white line. Never interfere with the driver's ability todrive safely. Keep your arms, head and hands insidethe bus at all times. No pushing, fighting or throwing objects. Gasoline-powered (GP) bicycles, GPscooters and GP skateboards are notallowed on the bus or bike rack.

Folding bicycles and human-poweredscooters and skateboards can be brought onboard, but must be kept out of the aisle.Secure all other bicycles on the bike rack. Vehicle batteries and gas containers arenot allowed on board. Except for service animals, keep petsenclosed in small cages or cardboard boxes. Buses stop ONLY at designated stops.

Always Pay Your Fare Have your SunGO Card, SunGO ID &Card, SunGO Ticket or exact change readybefore boarding. Cash not accepted on SunLink. Tap your valid SunGO ID & Card on thefarebox to show proof of qualification for theeconomy fare, even if paying cash. Showthe ID to the driver. Sharing your SunGO card or ticket withother riders is not acceptable. SunGO cards and tickets with visible dam-age may not be accepted. Operators may deny boarding to anyonewithout a valid fare.

Respect Other Riders Keep away from the bus if you choose tosmoke before boarding. Completely extin-guish smoking materials before you board. Offer seats in the front of the bus to sen-iors and disabled riders. Occupy one seat, keep feet on the floor,and place bags and backpacks in your lap. Use a reasonable volume while talking onyour cell phone or with other passengers. Offensive language is prohibited. Use headphones when listening to music.

Take Care of Your Bus Keep food and drinks in closed containers. No eating on the bus. No alcoholic beverages. Please don't litter or create unsanitary con-ditions. Take your trash with you. Don't damage transit property.

Transfers

All passengers paying by the ride receive afree transfer, valid for up to two trips withintwo hours. Return trips are not allowed with atransfer. How a transfer is received dependson how the transit fare is paid.

Paying with SunGOIf paying cash value from a card, a transferwill automatically load on the card whentapped on the farebox/validator. If paying witha pass on a card, no transfer is needed.

Paying CashFull fare passengers with a SunGO Card willtap the card after paying cash to load thetransfer. If no SunGO Card is present, aSunGO Transfer Ticket will be provided.Please keep this ticket for later use, as addi-tional transfers can be loaded for up to 30days when paying the cash fare. Cash is notaccepted once onboard Sun Link.

Economy fare passengers paying cash mustfirst let the driver know. Then tap the validSunGO ID & Card to the farebox as proof ofqualification. If a transfer is needed, tap thecard a second time to load the transfer. If thedriver is not informed first, the card will indi-cate a negative balance. Cash is not acceptedonce onboard Sun Link.

Transfers to premium service will require a sur-charge payment, and can be paid with cashvalue on a SunGO Card or SunGO ID &Card, or with exact change.

Sun Tran's Sun Express service makes limitedstops from outlying areas to major destinationsduring peak commuting hours Mondaythrough Friday.

Look for route numbers ending in X,ie. Rita Ranch 110X" on the signabove the front window of the bus.Express buses serve only stops withan "Express" bus stop sign.

How to Bike & Ride

Every Sun Tran bus is equipped with a bikerack on the front bumper that can hold up totwo bikes. If the bike rack is full, please waitfor the next bus. Bikesare not allowed insidebuses, unless they arefold-up models.

You are responsible forloading, securing andremoving your bicycle from the bike rack. Usethe bike rack at your own risk.

Loading1. When the bus arrives at your stop, let thedriver know you'd like to use the bike rack.

2. Squeeze the handle on the top of the rack,then lower it.

3. Lift your bike and place it on the rack in thewheel slots closest to the bus. If there isalready a bike in the rack, load yours facingthe opposite direction.

4. When your bike isloaded, lift the tirehook over the front tireto secure it in place.

5. Remove any loose items or valuables fromthe bike.

6. Now board the bus and pay your fare.

Unloading1. As you near your stop, remind the driveryou need to remove your bike.

2. Lift the tire hook from your bike and lift thebike off the rack to the curb.

3. If no other bikes are on the rack, pleasereturn the rack to its upright and locked posi-tion.

4. Return to the curb and wave to let the driv-er know you and your bike are clear of thebus.

Bike LockersSun Tran has a limited number of bike lockersfor rent at the following locations: Golf Links/Kolb Park & Ride Mission/Ajo Speedway/Harrison Park & Ride Tanque Verde/Sabino Canyon Catalina Hwy/Tanque Verde Old Vail/Rita Road Park & Ride

Bikes on Sun Link

Non-motorized bicycles are allowed on SunLink. Walk bicycles onto the streetcar at thesame entrance as pedestrians. Stand with thebike in the designated area in the center ofthe streetcar. Select seats fold down for addedspace.

Accessible Services

Bus Features All Sun Tran buses are equipped with liftsor ramps and the ability to "kneel" for board-ing ease. Each bus can carry a minimum of twopersonal mobility devices. Most Sun Tran buses have annunciatorsthat announce major bus stops, cross streetsand transfer locations.

Boarding the Bus If you require the use of the lift or ramp,please stay about eight feet away from thebus so that the lift or ramp can be loweredsafely. If you need the kneeler, please let yourcoach operator know. To avoid turning around in the bus, boardby backing your device onto the lift or ramp. Please turn off mechanized devices andlock the wheels while on the bus lift andonce you are safely secured. The coach operator will either secure yourmobility device or ensure that you havesecured it properly with a minimum of threesecurement points. The bus is equippedwith lap belts and shoulder harnesses, andyou are strongly encouraged to use them tohelp prevent injuries. Should the driver beforced to make a sudden stop, failure to usethese restraints may result in your ejectionfrom the mobility device, causing injury. Ifyou want assistance in using these restraints,please ask the driver. Coach operators may handle fares forpassengers upon request, but are notrequired to retrieve fares from pockets orpersonal property.

Exiting the Bus When the bus comes to a stop, allowother passengers to exit first so the aisle willbe free for you to maneuver. The coach operator will release the secure-ment loops and guide you to the door.

We also ask that service animals are kept offthe seats and as far away from the aisle aspossible. You may allow your service animal tolie down under a nearby seat, or on the floorbetween you and the side of the vehicle.Boarding may be denied to any animal thatposes a threat to the health and safety of otherpassengers.

Cmo Viajar en Sun Tran

Reglas para Viajar

Tome Precaucin Nunca corra para alcanzar el autobs.Los autobuses no podrn parar despus quese hayan alejado de la banqueta. Tan pronto que suba a bordo, tranquila-mente tome un asiento. Escuche al conductor. Ellos son los quemandan. Es obligatorio llevar camisa y zapatos. Se prohbe fumar en el autobs, incluidoslos cigarrillos electrnicos. Recomendamos que saque los nios delas sillitas de ruedas antes de subir a bordo,doble la sillita y guardarla donde no blo-quea el pasillo. Si es necesario estar de pie en su viaje,agarre el barandal el respaldo del asientoy permanezca detrs de la raya blanca. Nunca interfiera con el conductor y suhabilidad para conducir con cuidado. Mantenga siempre los brazos, cabeza ymanos dentro del autobs. No se permite empujar, pelear o tirar objetos. No se permiten bicicletas con motor degasolina, motonetas y monopatines en elautobs en el portabicicletas.

Se permite traer bicicletas que se doblan ypatinetes y monopatines motor de gasolinapero deben guardarse sin bloquear el pasil-lo. Asegure cualquier otro tipo de bicicletasen el portabicicletas. No se permiten bateras para vehculos yrecipientes para gasolina a bordo. Con la excepcin de animales en serviciode pasajeros, guarde mascotas en jaulaspequeas en cajas de cartn. Cmo Viajar con Bicicleta

Cada autobs de Sun Tran est equipado conun portabicicletas ubicado en la defensadelantera donde caben hasta dos bicicletas.Si el portabicicletas est lleno, favor de esper-ar al siguiente autobs. No sepermiten bicicletas en el interiorde los autobuses, a menos quesean modelos que se doblan.

Usted es responsable de colocar, asegurar ybajar su bicicleta del portabicicletas. Use elportabicicletas a su propio riesgo.

Colocando la bicicleta1. Cuando el autobs llegue a su parada,hgale saber al con-ductor que desea usarel portabicicletas.

2. Apriete la manijaen la parte superiordel portabicicletas,luego bjela.

3. Levante su bicicleta y coloque las llantas enlas ranuras ms cercanas al autobs. Si yahay una bicicleta en el portabicicletas,coloque su bicicleta en direccin opuesta.

4. Cuando su bicicletaeste colocada, levanteel gancho para lasllantas sobre la llantadelantera y sujtala ensu lugar.

5. Quite cualesquier artculos sueltos devalor de la bicicleta.

6. Ahora aborde el autobs y page su pasaje.

Servicios de Accesibilidad

Caractersticas Singulares Todos los autobuses de Sun Tran estnequipados con elevadores rampas ytienen la abilidad de "arrodillarse" para subira bordo con facilidad. Cada autobs puede acomodar minimo 2aparatos mviles personales en el interior. La mayora de autobuses Sun Tran tienenun sistema electrnico automtico queanuncia las paradas principales, cruces ysitios de transbordo.

Subiendo a bordo Si necesita el servicio del elevador rampa,favor de mantener una distancia de 8 pies delautobs para que el elevador rampa puedanbajarse a su lugar apropiado sin peligro. Si necesita el arrodillador, favor de infor-mar al conductor. Para no tener que dar vuelta adentro delautobs, suba de espaldas en su aparatomvil al elevador/rampa. Favor de apagar aparatos motorizados yfrenar las ruedas mientras est en el elevadory est sujetado y seguro a bordo del autobs. El conductor sujetar su aparato mvil verificar que lo haya sujetado debidamentepor lo mnimo en tres puntos de seguridad.El autobs est equipado con cintas deseguridad para el regazo y hombro, lascuales altamente recomendamos que utilice,para evitar lesiones. En caso que el conduc-tor tenga que frenar y parar de repente, lafalta de no usar estas cintas de seguridadpudiera resultar en alguna herida al ser lan-zado de su aparato mvil. Si necesita asis-tencia en el uso de estas abrazaderas, favorde dirigirse al conductor.
