Christ Community Church Newsleer July—September, 2017 ...effecvely impacng our community by making disciples of Christ. NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION U.S. POSTAGE PAID ROSEVILLE, MI PERMIT NO.263 RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED Sustainability Sustainabilityis a popular word today concerning environment, finance and business. This word actually has to do with life and death. It deals with resources and longevity of life. The issue of sustainability is a concern for running out of resources and provision to meet the demands of our present culture. The question comes down to what are the resources needed to sustain our life and well being? If the financial world collapses next month will you be able to survive? If we run out of fuel can we go on with life? The question is what do we ultimately rely on? The answer for the believer is found in the creator not creation. Of course we must be good stewards of what God has entrusted us with, but we must not trust in that which fades and withers. Ultimately the only thing truly sustainable is the eternal imper- ishable Word of God. It is to our benefit to make sure that our health, wellness and faith are sustained by Gods Word and Spirit in order that we might be able to withstand any failure that befalls this age. It is obvious that the moral condition of our society is unsustainable. Legitimizing such levels of sexual depravity, prejudice, hatred and gluttony will bring a quick demise to any civilization. History tells that story over and over and so Americas behavior will fail our generation. The Bible tells us that such wickedness is unsustainable and will have its dev- astating consequences. We will have to bear those conse- quences and be prepared to not only overcome them but minister to the world despite them. Therefore let us not fall into the worlds system but walk according to Gods plan for sustaining a blessed life. The following are some of the truths in Gods Word that will sustain us through these last days. I would encourage you to keep these principles working in your life. 1.Church attendance—Believe it or not the writer of Hebrews tells us that staying in community is essential in the last days. Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lords coming is getting closer.(Hebrews 10:25, CEV) 2. Keep the Sabbath—We know that Jesus is our Sab- bath rest. So keeping the Sabbath is not just a one day a week observance but in fact finding peace with God and rest for our souls. We are to make sure we rest ... from our labors to enjoy the presence of God. We are an over worked, over stimulated society and if we want to sustain our health, productivity, and rela- tionships we need to rest properly both in body and spirit. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3 ESV) 3. Fasting—This principle calls for restraint over our indulgent appetites. Fasting is an abstainingfrom the natural to obtainfrom the supernatural. This principle challenges our carnal senses by reminding us that the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Fast- ing is a supernatural diet of the Spirit that sustains our spiritual strength over the flesh. Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?(Isaiah 58:6, ESV) 4. Stewardship—We have limited resources to take care of. If we do not know how to apportion them properly in time and by need they will fail us. One of the keys to good stewardship is knowing that what we have belongs to God therefore we must use it for His glory. We must be faithful in giving to what God deems important and not according to our desires. Working our finances, time and talent for the Lord will bring amazing results and sustain us with super- natural outcomes. I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. (Psalm 37:25) 5. CommunicationCommunication with Jesus is found in study and prayer. These channels of con- versation will keep our hearts at peace and our minds filled with the knowledge we will need for what we are about to face. Communing with God is more than thinking about Him it is engaging Him in discus- sion and knowledge to understand His purposes for your life. "Let not a wise man boastof his wis- dom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth;(Jeremiah 9:23-24) I pray we will take hold of Gods Word and follow His precepts this summer to sustain our lives in the richness of His benefits despite whatever happens around us. 2017 Picnic Sunday, August 27th Located in the park pavilion Service starts at 10:00 am CLIP OUT THIS PASS AND PRESENT IT AT THE GATE FOR ENTRANCE Christ Community New Members Class, August 2 Baptismal Class, August 9 Baptisms @ the Beach, August 27, 10am at Metro Beach C3 Picnic at Metro Beach, August 27, 10am Baby Dedications, Sept. 10 Pastors Meet & Greet, Sept. 24 C3 Annual Canoe Trip, Sept. 16 New Members Service, Sept. 17 MCREST @ C3, Sept. 17-24 New Members Service, July 16 C3 Parking Lot Prayer, July 17-21 Praise in the Park @ Kennedy Park, July 22, 3-6pm Pastors Meet & Greet, July23 25410 Kelly Rd. Sustainability

“Sustainability” is a popular word today concerning environment, finance and business. Ultimately the only thing truly sustainable is the eternal imper-ishable Word of God. It is to our benefit to make sure that our health, wellness and faith are sustained by God’s Word and Spirit in order that we might be able to withstand any failure that befalls this age.

It is obvious that the moral condition of our society is unsustainable. Legitimizing such levels of sexual depravity, prejudice, hatred and gluttony will bring a quick demise to any civilization. History tells that story over and over and so America’s behavior will fail our generation. The Bible tells us that such wickedness is unsustainable and will have its dev-astating consequences. We will have to bear those conse-quences and be prepared to not only overcome them but minister to the world despite them. Therefore let us not fall into the worlds system but walk according to God’s plan for sustaining a blessed life.

The following are some of the truths in God’s Word that will sustain us through these last days. I would encourage you to keep these principles working in your life.

1.Church attendance—Believe it or not the writer of Hebrews tells us that staying in community is essential in the last days. ”Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. 5. Communication— Communication with Jesus is found in study and prayer. These channels of con-versation will keep our hearts at peace and our minds filled with the knowledge we will need for what we are about to face. Communing with God is more than thinking about Him it is engaging Him in discus-sion and knowledge to understand His purposes for your life. “ "Let not a wise man boastof his wis-dom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth;” (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

I pray we will take hold of God’s Word and follow His precepts this summer to sustain our lives in the richness of His benefits despite whatever happens around us.

Preparing for Launch What started at the end of last year when the mission trip locations were selected is finally coming to fruition. For months the team members have been preparing by attending monthly training meetings, working hard on the highly successful Bowlathon event (raising over $41,000) and spending time in individual team meet-ings where they get to know each other better and become a fami-ly. They have faced many hills to climb and fought a number of spiritual attacks throughout that time. We all understand that when these spiritual attacks happen we know it is because we are having an effect in the spiritual world.

Prayer Night Send Off - Over the last many years we have come to learn well how important prayer is for all of our teams. We end our team training by holding a Team sendoff and prayer night on August 12th at 7:00pm. This event is open to C3 members, family and friends and it will be a time of celebration and prayer for each team as they leave for each of their trips. We look forward to seeing you all on August 12th for the prayer sendoff and also please continue to pray for each of the team members, the team leaders and for the mission each team is on until they return safely home.
