OUR MISSION:

Walking in Faith – Sowing Christ’s Love

The mission of St. Paul Lutheran Church is derived from our core values - the essence of

our purpose for existence and the criteria we should use to guide our congregational

decisions and actions.

Our Core Values: 1. Spirituality – to worship and to grow and

develop spiritually as Christians. 2. Outreach – To spread the message of God’s love and

grace by word and by action. 3. Service to Others – To live Christ’s message

to Love one another.

You can support the mission of our church by coming to worship, engaging in study, shar-

ing the word, bringing a friend to church, taking part in Care Team initiatives, volunteering

at church or in the community and loving one another. We invite you to join us in this journey.

Memory Verse: Acts 14:15 15 Friends, why are you doing this? We are mortals just like you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

Going Deeper

The purpose of this page is to provide a tool or instrument for your spiritual growth. This page contains a brief synopsis of the readings as well as some questions for your reflection to help you go deeper with the Word. On the back is a day by day listing of scripture readings with possible prayer request. Individuals are listed on their day of birth—so that you might pray for them on their birthday. Also on the back is the prayer list for the congregation. Keep on Growing Spiritually!!

Readings for the Day:

Acts 13:1-3; 14:8-18: Within the Early Church, others were set apart for various functions within the church. We hear of one of those individuals—Barnabas. Barnabas and Paul were together and healed a man who had never walked. The crowd began to say that they were gods. Quickly, Paul and Barnabas told the people they were not gods, but that there is one God who is the created of all.

Matthew 10:40-42: When Jesus sends his disciples out as missionaries, he warns them of persecution and hardship they will face. He also promises to reward any who aid his followers and support their ministry.

Questions To Ponder: 1—Who is Barnabas? 2—Why were others set apart for the mission of God? 3—Why did the people think Barnabas and Paul were gods? 4—What did Paul emphasize about God to this group of people? 5—How does this text speak to you today?
