MASS SCHEDULE & INTENTIONS - February 13-21, 2021
3
This year’s celebration of Ash Wednesday, February 17 th, will follow the Vatican directive for the blessing to be said once
distribution in which ashes are sprinkled
than in the form of a sign of the cross on the forehead. This has already been the
tradition in Europe for quite some time.
The schedule for distribution of ashes is in this week’s bulle-tin, along with the schedule for Stations of the Cross and important information about our take-out Fish Frys at the St. Gabriel and St. Valentine locations.
As always, Lent is a wonderful opportunity to grow closer to our Lord through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Again this year, wooden crosses will be placed in each of the churches in or near the sanctuary. Next to each cross will be small pieces of paper for you to write a sacrifice you are planning to make this year during Lent and then tack the paper to the cross. All the papers will be burned at the end of Lent, fueling the fire at Easter Vigil fire.
With the difficult times we have experienced over the past year, this Lenten season in particular provides us with a much-needed time of spiritual growth. As more and more people are vaccinated and the springtime draws near we can indeed begin to sense real hope for the future. Our Lady of Hope, pray for us!
Our celebration of the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary time coin-cides with February 14th – Happy Valentine’s Day!
Gratefully in Christ,
Please remember to make your checks payable to Our Lady of Hope Parish.

Inspiration for the week
unworthy, unwanted or marginalized. It is not part of God’s vision. Jesus came to heal, make things whole, set things right and restore relationships. No one is to feel unwelcome or alienated from the community.
Whether we like it or not this message is at the core of the Gospel. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Perhaps this is why people kept coming from everywhere to listen to Jesus speak and to be in his presence. He made perfect sense. Most of us have no issue buying into this vision. We run into trouble, however, when we fall into the trap of privilege and power.
We diverge from God’s vision when the powerful begin to control who is entitled to wholeness and inclusion, and greed becomes a driving force.
Prejudice and entitlement have no place in the kingdom of God, and even the most needy and hurting among us are worthy of the compassion Jesus desires to offer. There are no easy solutions to the world’s dilemmas. One thing is for certain, no one can be singled out, excluded or mistreated. Everyone matters

Senior Men’s Golf League As the daylight gets longer each day, we approach the start of a new golf season. The St. Gabriel’s Men’s League begins play for the first season as Our Lady of Hope Parish.
We are welcoming new members to join a great group of forty current members who represent all four churches in the parish. Membership is limited to men who are members of Our Lady of Hope Parish. We play on Tuesday mornings rotating among Rolling Green, Scenic Valley, Cedarbrook Red and Lindenwood courses. We also have a mid-year and year-end outing. Tee times are assigned on a weekly basis with the first tee time of 9:00 AM.
Our members cover a wide range of skill levels, so no need to fear you won’t fit in. The dues for the upcoming season are a very economical $40 (does not include green fees). The league is a great way to make new acquaintances or re-new some old ones, while navigating the links. Our season starts on Tuesday, April 6th at Rolling Green, continuing every week until the year-end outing on Tuesday, October 5th at site to be determined.
There will be a league breakfast meeting in March (TBD) at Gianna Via’s Restaurant in Caste Village to share all the particulars of our

LOVE JESUS
Rosary Rally
Saturday, February 20 - Noon Our Lady of Hope - St. Valentine Parking Lot
(If inclement weather, the Rosary will be prayed inside church)
Saturday is the feast of Saints Jacinta and Francisco. After Our Lady of Fatima appeared to them, they started praying and offering sacrifices, just as Our Lady asked. In honor of the Fatima children, you are urged to pray the Rosary in public on February 20 for the conversion of sinners.
Rosary Prayers
The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontus Pilate, was crucified, died, and was
at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Our Father
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory Be Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Fatima Prayer* O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy.
*According to Roman Catholic tradition, the Decade Prayer for the Rosary, commonly known as the Fatima Prayer was revealed by Our Lady of Fatima on July 13, 1917 to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal. Tradition states the three shepherd children, Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia, were asked to recite this prayer at the end of each dec-ade of the Rosary. It was approved in 1930, and has since become a common part of the Rosary.
Hail, Holy Queen Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ
Closing Prayer O God, whose only-begotten Son, by his life, death, and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation; grant, we beseech thee, that, while meditating on these sacred mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
