Trinity Sunday 8:00 am

Welcome The Rev. Maria Nightingale The Collect (The Rev. Maria Nightingale)

Leader: ALMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

OUR Lord Jesus Christ said: Hear O Israel, The Lord

our God is one Lord; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it:

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these

two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

People: Lord, have mercy upon us, and write both these

thy laws in our hearts, we beseech thee. Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Collect for the Day (The Rev. Canon David Long) Leader: The Lord be with you; People: And with thy spirit. Leader: Father, we praise you:

through your Word and Holy Spirit you created all things. You reveal your salvation in all the world by sending to us Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh. Through your Holy Spirit you give us a share in your life and love. Fill us with the vision of your glory, that we may always serve and praise you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

All: Amen. Lesson Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (Read by Elizabeth O’Neil) Reader: The Lesson is written in the 3rd chapter of

Ecclesiastes, beginning at the 1st verse. For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew;

a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. Reader: Here endeth the Lesson. Epistle: Philippians 4:4-9 (Read by Olivia Phillips) Reader: The Epistle is written in the 4th chapter of Philippians,

beginning at the 4th verse. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. Reader: Here endeth the Epistle. Gospel John 15:9-12 (The Rev. Clement Carelse) Gospeller: The Holy Gospel is written in the 15th chapter

of the Gospel according to St. John, beginning at the 9th verse.

People: Glory be to thee, O Lord.

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. ‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Gospeller: The Gospel of Christ. People: Praise be to thee, O Christ. Homily The Right Reverend Philip Poole The Creed Together: I BELIEVE in one God the Father Almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible:

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten

Son of God, Begotten of the Father before all worlds; God, of God; Light, of Light;

Very God, of very God;

Begotten, not made; Being of one substance with the Father; Through whom all things were made:

All: Who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, And was made man, And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.

He suffered and was buried,

And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, And ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead: Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord, The

Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spake by the Prophets. And I believe One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the Life of the world to come. Amen.

Rev. Nightingale: The peace of the Lord be always with you; People: And with thy spirit.

The Intercession (The Rev. Jim Ferry) Leader: ALMIGHTY and everliving God, who by thy holy

Apostle hast taught us to make prayers and supplications, and to give thanks, for all people: We humbly beseech thee most mercifully to receive these our prayers, which we offer unto thy Divine Majesty; beseeching thee to inspire continually the universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord: And grant that all they that do confess thy holy Name may agree in the truth of thy holy Word, and live in unity and godly love.

We beseech thee also to lead all nations in the way of

righteousness; and so to guide and direct their governors and rulers, that thy people may enjoy the blessings of freedom and peace: And grant unto thy servant ELIZABETH our Queen, and to all that are put in authority under her, that they may truly and impartially administer justice, to the maintenance of thy true religion and virtue.

Give grace, O heavenly Father, to all Bishops,

Priests, and Deacons, and specially to thy servants Linda our primate, Anne our Archbishop, Andrew our Diocesan and Kevin our Area Bishop, that they may both by their life and doctrine set forth thy true and living Word, and rightly and duly administer thy holy Sacraments: Prosper, we pray thee, all those who proclaim the Gospel of thy kingdom among the nations: And to all thy people give thy heavenly grace, and specially to this congregation here present, that, with meek heart and due reverence, they may hear and receive thy holy Word; truly serving thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of their life.

Leader: And we most humbly beseech thee of thy goodness,

O Lord, to comfort and succour all them, who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity, especially those for whom our prayers are desired.

departed this life in thy faith and fear: and we bless thy holy Name for all who in life and death have glorified thee; beseeching thee to give us grace that, rejoicing in their fellowship, we may follow their good examples, and with them be partakers of thy heavenly kingdom.

Grant this, O Father, for Jesus Christ's sake,

our only Mediator and Advocate, to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end.

All: Amen.

We do earnestly repent, And are heartily sorry for these our misdoings. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; For thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, Forgive us all that is past;

The Lord’s Prayer Canon Long: Let us pray. Together: OUR Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name,

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive them that trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

All: For thou only art holy; thou only art the Lord; thou only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost, art most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Farewell Words The Rev. Canon Jennifer Reid Liturgy for the Conclusion of an Incumbency Jennifer Reid: On the 1st of June, 1989, I began my ministry at

St. Peter’s, Erindale and on June 2, 2002 I began my ministry as incumbent. I have, with God’s help and to the best of my abilities, exercised this trust, accepting its privileges and responsibilities.

After prayerful and careful consideration, I made the decision to relinquish my ministry and I publicly state that my tenure as rector of St. Peter’s, Erindale has ended.

James Beckwith: Do you, the people of St. Peter’s, Erindale, recognize

and accept the conclusion of this pastoral relationship?

People: We do. All: O God, you have bound us together for a time as

priest and people, to work for the advancement of Your vision in this place. We give You humble and hearty thanks for the ministry which we have shared in these years now past.

Silence All: Especially we thank you for your never-failing

presence with us through these years, and for the deeper knowledge of you and of each other which we have attained.

Silence All: Now, we pray, be with those who leave and with

us who stay; and grant that all of us, by drawing ever nearer to you, may always be close to each other in the communion of your saints. All this we ask for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Blessing (The Rev. Canon David Long) Priest: The peace of God, which passeth all understanding,

keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord: And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you and remain with you always. Amen.

Dismissal (The Rev. Clement Carelse) Deacon: Let us depart in peace. People: In the name of the Lord. Amen. Join us at 11:00 am for Jennifer’s Farewell Celebration on Zoom https://zoom.us/j/93709146771?pwd=WWw3eVdmQmtzVWpSS0I0SkowVkxRUT09
